It's bound to happen. Insurer's stock already fell greatly due to this tragedy but I highly doubt its a time to be worrying about money when people are dying and suffering. Let's be humane for once and atleast worry about that a little later after we do something to help out our fellow humans.

so lets bankrupt ourselves helping them?
to want to pretend like money won't be a huge part of this is pretty silly. It takes money to send people over there and provide supplies and care for people who can no longer do it for themselves. People shouldn't be freaking out about how much it might cost to fix, they should be more focused on what it will take to get things rolling down there in a responsible manner.

I don't know where you got "let's bankrupt ourselves helping them," because I clearly said that our main concern at this point should not be the economic downfall due to this quake but rather the rescue effort to help the people out... of course there will be economic repercussions but we can look at that at a later time. Nowhere did I say that money won't be a huge part of this thing, so I guess you need to learn to understand the context, or just learn English.

yeah i guess i didn't read that as well as I should have, my bad

I'm sure this will give OPEC and speculators all the ammo they need to triple the price of gas, even though it literally has nothing to do with anything.
number23Mar 11, 2011
If anything it will lower the price of oil as Japan will be consuming less.
user500Mar 11, 2011
In response the big oil will cut production so prices don't fall becuse of lower demand then blame OPEC.
Gas prices are a rigged game.

I wonder what the real scale of the tragedy is going to be. I'd like to see every Wal-Mart store start to collect voluntary donations for Japan. Of course, there are some people in New Jersey that need help, too.

Japan disaster footage looks like parts of New Orleans and Detroit did yesterday. We cant even fix our own country.

Wow, mighty pessimistic Mr. downer.

I got got a handle on the economic consequences of this event and I'm more correct then you.
1. gas prices will go up and they'll blame it on the earthquake
2. everything else will go up and blame it on the earthquake
I wouldn't be surprised if:
1.the GOP blames the earthquake on Obama
2. Obama "compromises" and takes half the blame in exchange for giving up our right to vote.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Hope it isn't that bad!

This might be the straw that breaks the camels back.

My own county generates a lot of agricultural exports to Japan. This has to have an impact.
