The real issue is that the existing supply of Camaro is was getting dangerously low, and Camaro lovers had the Prototypes of the current camaro dangled infront of them during two transformers movies. You know Classic story, dad buys old beater camaro for sun in hopes of helping him get laid, it turns into brand new Camaro infront of a girl that you are trying to impress...

While it's a close call, I think that the Mustang is better. I'm pretty sure Car and Driver seems to think so too. But, the Camaro is still fresh and new, while the Mustang has never died.

of course it does, drive down any rural road in america and look in the yards. it's camaro's up on blocks, not mustangs. they've got an image to keep up!

Mustang is doing very well considering that Chevy is outspending Ford in advertising by 10 to 1.

Sports cars and trucks are what keeping the American automakers afloat. The dodge charger, challenger, camaro and mustang, to name a few are still popular American brands.. Now ford is offering a 800 horsepower engine in the new shelby mustang. More than 200 hp in the new Ford shelby than the GM chevy camaro. GM also offer 550+ hp engines( standard) in the corvette and the cadillac sport.
Today, Ford is trying to retake GM in the sales of sports cars... Too bad GM no longer makes the trans am. The pontiac trans am could boost GM sales today; and use to be more popular than the chevy camaro.

And both cars are shadows of them former selves and try in earnest to be as good as any car in their category our to Europe.

Are you kidding me? Yes, the 2010-2011 Camaro is heavier than its hertigate, but, it's more equipped, faster, stronger, much safer, more economic, more features, much more comfortable, etc.. -- Do you own either one? Have you ever been in one? I've own two 4th Gen TransAms, a 98 Steeda Mustang GT and I now own a supercharged 2010 Camaro SS. 2SS/RS that's putting out ~660 block HP and ~615 block TQ. It gets ~28-30MPG on the highway and will tear apart the 1/4 mile all at 4000 lbs, great on long drives, commanding attention everywhere I go. Kids are always all over the car. Legacy Car guys are always giving me a thumbs up.
Now, I don't own a 2011 GT with the Coyote motor, but I respect those guys. It's a stout car. I can't comment any further on it since I've not ridden in one.. But, to dismiss them both as "shadows" is just ignorant.
But, I guess "Haters Gonna Hate"

Yeah, the 426-hp SS with its six-speed manual transmission and 30mpg-highway is far inferior to my '87 Z28 with its 190 horses and 24mpg, You sure know what you're talking about.

Isn't Chevy an offshoot of General Motors? Better not buy the Camaro lest you end up without spare parts to get the Camaro repaired when Chevy goes bankrupt in the next economic recession.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Yeah, just like how you can't buy parts for Pontiacs anymore...

Although I'm generally more interested in GM - particularly the Corvette - I really really really like the most recent Mustang design.

Probably because the variant of the Mustang (the Saleen S281) is a Decepticon, while the Camaro is MOTHER f**kING BUMBLEBEE
