Just one more reason to use Android.

So you can see Toyota ads? :)
asrrin29Apr 6, 2011
Well reading the article, I think it was referenced multiple times that these were iphone themes featuring Toyota brand cars that can be installed via Cydia. I don't want a phone company telling me what I can and cannot put on my phone thanks.
jbellaApr 6, 2011
Well, you can always get pictures of those cars and make your own themes, can't you? One of the great things about Cydia is that it really lets you do whatever you want with your phone.
Apple is not telling you you can't have Toyota car themes on your phone.
Apple is not even telling Toyota that they can't advertise with Cydia.. Toyota can advertise with anyone they want.
Apple did, however, ask Toyota not to advertise with Cydia because they felt it legitimized what they consider an illegitimate use of their platform. The request has no legal weight. No one is getting sued and toyota is free to ignore the request, but they chose not to.

Rediculous.

How much of a minority does the iPhone have to become before these big companies really tell Apple to go f themselves?
bobburn1Apr 6, 2011
This is a very poorly written article.
idiggfreedomApr 6, 2011
Well Apple if you added some basic features like the ability to text from any app or page, quick information access from the lock screen, a settings controller that can accessed from anywhere and flash, the need for jail breaking would be gone.
nikowolfApr 6, 2011
i guess apple is too dumb to realize some people would rather not have advertizing on their devices. they are actually doing people a favor without intending to :)
jbellaApr 6, 2011
Yea... that must be it. It's the only explanation.
nikowolfApr 6, 2011
yup

Apple has and most likely always will be a closed loop. A brilliant device whose community of users and developers seem more than happy with maintaining a polished experience at the expense of any real creative outside the box creativity. Companies depending upon them for their revenue will have to eventually recognize the short sighted and restrictive effect of such partnerships. But hey till then anyone else want an IPAD!!!!!
