I had no idea how old it was until I saw a documentary on beer recently. Or that it was actually privately owned. After that, I had a new found respect for that company.
Definitely one of my favorites. Their Black & Tan is incomparable. Unfortunately, they don't have distribution anywhere near my area of the U.S., so my opportunities to enjoy Yuengling are few and far between.

MF Global dated to 1783, but was destroyed in a few short months with the genius of Jon Corzine.

I got curious and looked up the oldest company in the world. Nisiyama Onsen Keiunkan hotel in Japan, 705. That's right, 705. Not 1705, 705.
Oldest in the UK is Royal Mint, 886.
Oldest in the United States is Tuttle's Red Barn farm, 1632.

I was always under the assumption that Baker's Chocolate was chocolate for baking. I did not realise it was a company.

One of the local bars near me, has operated as a pub since 1536. Not as the same company though.

hurray for old irrelevant companies. none of these tiny poop operations can even hold a candle to facebook or google. probably not even to digg.
