Louisiana: better than Mississippi since 1804
bdbrDec 8, 2010
LOL! I lived in Alabama for a few years, and they always seemed to appreciate Mississippi for keeping them from ever being in last place on lists like this.

Oklahoma, bringing up the rear in every metric. Surprise, surprise.

California's in the middle. As sanctimonious as they can be, you'd think they'd be on top.
Interesting list.

I had never seen so many donuts shops in my life until I moved to California.

Yes, but those are gluten free, organic soy donuts...
I've been there.

I've lived in California for 5 years, and don't see too many fat people. Maybe southern Cal is different.
I guess we eat a lot of donuts, and work out?
jonjon602Dec 8, 2010
for every donut shop in California there is a 24 hour fitness or a Whole Foods.
TD99Dec 8, 2010
It's becoming more common here in So Cal, but when I travel to other parts of the country, I am shocked at the amount of fatties. Virtually everyone!

Where are you in CA?
ammoman23Jan 12, 2011

Yet another reason why living in Vermont is awesome. Everyone from other states don't know where it is, and therefore keep their fatness to themselves.

Thank the lawddd for Mississippi.

But wait??? isn't Mississippi the most religious state???? What does God have to say about this???
miklkitDec 9, 2010
I guess the Mississippians get to meet their maker sooner.
rustycawleyDec 8, 2010
Is it even SLIGHTLY suspicious that this survey lauds New England while slamming the Sun Belt? Hmmmm.
thdeciderDec 8, 2010
Rest of the country needs to sit down, STFU and let New England drive cuz we pretty much pwn all other states in every conceivable dimension of awesomeness.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

fastfood restaurants should not be blamed, the owners should be since they are the one who actually know what's going to be best for their customers' health.
