At least it's better than the "Meximelt"
1krazykoreanAug 4, 2010
Hey man the meximelt is so effing disgusting. Actually the only thing I like at taco bell is the mexican pizza, even though there is no such thing.
freakydingoAug 4, 2010
Yeah, their mexican pizza is the only edible thing there. But they stopped putting green onions on it. :-(
randomgorillaAug 4, 2010
I miss the green onions on it as well.
rumbeefAug 4, 2010
I remember when they put black olives on it.
smacksawAug 4, 2010
kplo, there's a difference between food trucks and stands.
Roach coaches, especially that serve Mexican food don't always have tacos al carbon, especially because with limited space, the rotisserie isn't a good idea.
There are small, hot-dog sized carts that have the rotisserie on one side and then the condiments and tortillas on the other. They aren't trucks, but some are towed as trailers.
Regardless, the point is this: real tacos al carbon and al pastor need to be rotated on a spit. Is Taco Bell going to have that? I don't think so. Thus, not only is this not food truck food, but it's not even food cart food.
raggapantsAug 4, 2010
then again it's really hard to find many taco trucks that do al pastor on the spit... at least where i live... a pity, as they're the yummiest...
propethicAug 4, 2010
I don't think you know how franchises work.
jorgioAug 4, 2010
How about a taco bell truck that goes to the closing bars, apartment complexes, etc.?

zooltoolAug 4, 2010
I've never had a problem with Taco Bell food in all the years I've eaten it, so I don't know where that reputation comes from.
razorguyAug 4, 2010
You have built up a tolerance...like a rattlesnake handler builds tolerance by ingesting the venom, but y'know, without the actual tastiness of venom.
propethicAug 4, 2010
I'm with zool, taco bell has never caused me difficulty or discomfort. To me it seems that people love to romanticize about terrible s**ts they've had to the point where it has nothing to do with the food
drcyclopsAug 5, 2010
I have a friend like that. He gets sick from nearly everything he eats. I, on the other hand, can scrape the mold off of 6 month old sour cream and get by without so much as a concerning belch.
thaguruAug 4, 2010
"...using simple, fresh ingredients, that customers regard as high quality," said Taco Bell chief marketing officer David Ovens.
in this qualified and carefully crafted statement, it appears Taco Bell management knows its customers have poor taste. or think cilantro is something special.
stevedanAug 4, 2010
haters gonna hate
tehprophetAug 5, 2010
I've never gotten sick from a taco bell and I eat there a lot, me and friends have gotten sick several times from the shady mexican resturaunts, and food trucks, the food was usually much better than taco bell, but it wasn't worth having to spend the rest of the night on the toilet.
sjbdallasAug 4, 2010
Now if they can only remove the "suck"
surferessAug 4, 2010
When I read this headline, I immediately thought they must have had to change some trucks b/c maybe some humorous vandals we're painting out the "ood tr" part for fun.
IllBeBackAug 4, 2010
$2.79 for 2 or $4.99 for 2 tacos and a 30 ounce drink.
So a 30 ounce drink at Taco Bell costs $2.20? That is a really expensive drink... No thanks.
IllBeBackAug 4, 2010
Looks like the combo has three tacos, not two. Makes more sense.
http://www.tacobell.com/food/tacos
kamarolaAug 4, 2010
the best part is the description of the tacos use the word "fresh" 4 times, but we all know it means "packaged"
kwcarpenterAug 4, 2010
Yeah, and if you buy the three tacos together without a drink, it's MORE than with a drink.
Closed AccountAug 4, 2010
If you buy 4 tacos it is less than if you buy -1 tacos
gardnmiAug 4, 2010
Who gets combo meals at taco bell. I strategically avoid the drink so I can add at least one more item.
mweatherAug 4, 2010
"Who gets combo meals at taco bell."
People who can add. Not getting a drink costs you more in this case.
dinglebuttAug 4, 2010
I would have rather had the truck. Imagine them driving around college campuses at 4 AM.

I have two words for you , Taco Bell. Breakfast Tacos.

I don't frequent fast food much anymore... but I got to say Del Taco >>>> Taco Bell. Just haven't had much luck with the Bell lately.
tehprophetAug 5, 2010
Del taco is s**t , their food is so greasy, yet so lacking in cheese compared to taco bell.
adammhenryAug 4, 2010
this is has been at my local taco bells for about 3 weeks. and i still havent tried, nor wanted to try them.

Am I the only person in the world who thinks Del Taco is better? Just throwing that out there. Throw any Taco Bell taco against a Del Taco "Macho" taco and try and disagree.
jbcseeAug 4, 2010
I used to think Dell Taco was better when they still has $0.49 tacos and I was broke. Now I take Taco Bell over Dell Taco, of course a good taco truck or restaurant wins over either...
libertarianslolAug 4, 2010
Now that you have money, you feel that you can go to classier fast food restaurants, like Taco Bell.
captainnopantsAug 4, 2010
Living in NJ TBell is all we have. On a trip to Cali a few years ago I had Del Taco and realized a fast food taco doesn't have to be crap. I still like TBell though. Guess I'm a glutton for punishment

they roll out new items pretty regularly, but i think everything i've ever ordered from taco bell tasted exactly the same.
mattdiggsitAug 4, 2010
you're using too much hot sauce.
iignotusAug 4, 2010
I had one of these. The amount of filling (meat, onion, and spices combined) is literally equal to 2 tablespoons. It is a f**king ripoff for even $1.49.
mattdiggsitAug 4, 2010
I'm normally reluctant to buy food from people on the street. Just doesn't seem that sanitary to me. Not to mention the people workin them are typically pretty scary looking. Always smells good though...Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Crunch Wrap Supreme
aristanAug 4, 2010
These are absolutely disgusting. I had them, one of each variety. They all tasted the same, the amount of filling was tiny and all you really tasted was corn tortilla. I've had "real" tacos before. They taste of something other than corn flour.
The only parts of the Cantina Tacos I liked were A) comes wrapped in foil so they stayed warm longer. and B) I liked the lime wedge, even though it'd been tucked into the foil and was thus just as hot as the taco.
That's right, the two things I liked about the tacos were things that had nothing to do with the tacos.
But if they want to come out with a good shredded pork taco, I'm all for that. The Cantina Taco is not it though.
bluehouseAug 4, 2010
They also remove the "food" from truck food
jaythewiseAug 4, 2010
Gross! more late night runs.... to squirt one out at your toliet.
wiseoracleAug 4, 2010
I've actually tried the Cantina tacos. I like the direction of where it's going, but the execution sucks. I was not able to taste anything. They tasted plain. The ingredients looked real and fresh, but I had the steak one and I couldn't taste the meat. All I tasted was the stale tortilla.
djnikadeemasAug 4, 2010

Why the f**k would I go get taco truck style tacos from Taco Bell when I could just go to a taco truck?

Food safety?
tyron23Aug 5, 2010
No taco trucks?
FPSmotoAug 4, 2010
hah! They must be watching too much Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations :D
It's good to see them doing this, because I love street food. I'm doubtful it will actually taste like street food, but getting the idea of street food to the masses is great for everyone.
buttpuddingAug 4, 2010
Buried for blatant viral advertising.
magneteyeAug 4, 2010
Why would I want this s**t when I already get $1.25 tacos from a real taco truck?
nick027Aug 4, 2010
f**k the haters. If you need cheap food, and you aren't fond of burger joints, Taco Bell serves its purpose well. I have eaten at Taco Bell 2-3 times a week all summer, and my ass hasn't exploded yet. The quality is reasonable for the fact that you are paying a dollar for a god damn chicken burrito. If a full meal that takes you from starving to "jesus christ I can't move" in four to seven dollars, you take what you can get for quality. I've found the trick is to load up on the sauce of your choice to give the cheaper menu items some kick.
danj484Aug 4, 2010
Real taco truck tacos are cheaper, generally.
ledzep19752000Aug 5, 2010
But, unlike Nick027, your ass explodes from the roach coach food!
higherlogicAug 4, 2010
Yeah, but not everyone lives in California, so we all can't drive around searching for taco trucks.
ledzep19752000Aug 5, 2010
In California, the roach coach stops by your work place especially if you have workers of Mexican descent. We have security and maintenance crews who are Mexicans.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Carne asada plz!
dncarlsonAug 4, 2010
I ordered 1 pollo, one carne asada, and one al pastor 'cantina taco' and could not for the life of me tell the difference. The tortillas were fresh enough, but it was pretty much a sub-par marinated tablespoon of meat, a sprinkle of cilantro, a couple thin strands of onion and a tiny slice of lime. For $1.50, I can get amazing cabeza street tacos that have been marinating in awesome all day. If only taco trucks were open late at night...
a7batAug 5, 2010
They typically are, if you know where to look. It's the best thing to end the night.

Shouldn't the phrase "that customers regard as high quality" be setting of warning sirens in everyone's heads?
