Could it get any more evil? The IRS is the Federal Mafia branch of the government and destroyer of so many lives. They'll take what's left over after the dolphins, birds, turtles, sea life and all those living near the Gulf inhaling oil & Corexit fumes wash up on shore dead. Even then, they'll pick over the carcasses to see if they can find a wallet... Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Hahaha! The IRS/government trolls are on here voting down all the comments that don't support their Slavemaster. How funny. Nice cozy place awaits you in Hell, minions.

What a slimy maneuver ...FFS

How? If you earned the wages, you'd have to pay tax. These payments are for LOST WAGES, therefore you have to pay tax.

This is your big government at work liberals...are there any other powers you want to give them?
ouzeJun 26, 2010
Because there were never any taxes before January 20th, 2008!
O WHAT HAVE WE DONE, AMURRICA!

Why should someone in the 'land of the free' have to move elsewhere to create prosperity? Kind of defeats the purpose. Might be there's something wrong with what you believe if it's acceptable to steal money from others.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

The people that digg me down because of my opinion on this is why nothing ever changes. They are the type who are as greedy as the bastards they serve. They love the status quo because it keeps them in the positions they have. They love power for themselves but don't give a s**t about their fellow country men.
Just a reminder that you are the s**t of the earth.

There are more solutions available beyond the hyperbole you offer. That said, if you actually calculated the costs involved between that and the government's quality vs cost, it's probably more efficient.

Without revenue, how will US gov. pay the generous pension? IRS workers need to retire too u know.

Every single one of you people hating on your government for this are idiots.
If you work, you pay a certain amount in tax. If BP pay you your pre-tax lost earnings, and the IRS still take the tax, you have not lost anything in that respect. What, you wanted to profit off it? That's not how it works.
This is why you, and other countries including here in the UK, have so many problems in politics. People are too quick to jump on bandwagons like this as another reason to hate those in power. You aren't looking at the things that really matter, such as poverty in the lowest classes. You may argue that this IS about poverty, but it's not. This is a totally logical step on behalf of the IRS, and it does nothing to help or hinder anyone in reality.
It's hard to come out with any clear point here. I don't pretend to know everything, nor do I believe that's possible. However, shouting f**k THE GOVERNMENT isn't going to get you anywhere. If anything, it just gives the opposition party something to latch onto in their next campaign, deciding to go with the smear campaign that seems to be so popular rather than really tacking issues.

I really don't understand how Congress was able, without any outrage from the taxpayers, pass all of this legislation allowing the IRS to tax pretty much anything under the gorram sun.
Me? I lost my job at the start of the money. Had to apply for unemployment. Unemployment pays out (in my state) roughly 40% of your pre-job-loss income, which as you can guess falls well short of what I need to get by, and that's after dropping pretty much every superfluous expense.
The IRS? Well guess what, yup, they tax unemployment. So instead of being able to put that extra $250 a month toward rent and my car, I instead have to pay it to the IRS.
Yes, I know this has nothing to do with the article, but I just felt the need to bitch about how the IRS taxes every single gods damn thing. If the Government had been doing it's gods damned job in the first place instead of allowing MMS employees to snort coke off a hooker's stomach with the BP folks they were supposed to be regulating, we probably wouldn't have had this gods damned mess in the first place so can someone explain to me in any rational terms why the damned government should be allowed to profit off of it's own mistakes?!
What, no one?
I thought so.

oh s**t wait our current community organizer is so in debt to his organization that got him elected he doesnt know how to be a leader ?

The case could be made, methinks, that if the money BP is paying out is actually equal to the money who's income was damaged by the spill then the IRS can claim that they should get a piece of the action.
However, if BP's payouts are less than the income lost (which I imagine is the case) then the IRS needs to calm down.
