The fake Steinbrenner is amazing.

I hear that he is being buried alive with the real Steinbrenner to assist him in the afterlife.

RIP
Best Owner in the History of Sports

"Owner" singular maybe, but if you go into "owners" plural?

is pretty awesome.

I don't know. The championship teams of the late-70's and late-90's were built when Steinbrenner was banned from baseball.

That Dr. Pepper ad has to be one of the most obnoxious I've seen. (cue "What Dr. Pepper ad? LOLOLOL")

Another hit for Cleveland fans... he tried to buy the Cleveland Indians, but the league blocked him from doing so ('cos he had some gambling interests at the time). His free spending did ruin baseball for everyone, but who wouldn't want him as their team's owner? He did everything he could to win. His death was certainly a shock! He did get to go out as a champion, though.
osabr22000Jul 14, 2010
You may hate the Yankees, or the fact that he bought championships. But that is beside the point, because he won and during any givenn preseason ( if you were a Yankee fan, I don't really follow baseball) you always knew there was at least a shot at the playoffs. RIP.

His contribution: taxpayer funded Yankee Stadium:
"The report says the taxpayer price tag for building the stadium is somewhere between $550 million and $850 million. In exchange, Brodsky points out, the Yankees have raised ticket prices by orders of magnitude, something the city has made no effort to stop."
http://www.salon.com/sports/daily/feature/2008/09/17/yankees/print.html
"The new Yankee stadium got up to $850 million in taxpayer investments but will create just 15 permanent jobs, a scathing new report charges." "The city failed to protect fans from "excessive ticket price increases." "

I always felt if you forced the team to pay for their own stadium, you woul see to construction fees become very reasonable very quickly.

Whatever Steinbrenner did that was over the top or way out there, he was one of the all time greats. The world of sport will miss him in an era of corporate ownership. RIP George.

His final win might have been his most magnificent: http://blogs.wsj.com/metropolis/2010/07/13/how-steinbrenner-saved-his-heirs-a-600-million-tax-bill/

Oh good, a rich white guy died. Let's all make a huge fuss over this **** and ignore everyone else. Huzzah for sports! Baseball! Dead guy is my hero! He did things with his limitless money. Good for him. Now shut the f**k up DIGG and realize there is s**t out there you can't even comprehend.
Oh, that's it. You're too stupid to understand. Long live the billionaire, god forbid we care about Africa or Korea. Get some balls Digg. Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

You make some valid points, but seriously, settle the f**k down.
