Many people don't recall WWII rationing, or think that limits on driving were to save fuel (they were actually because of rubber shortages). Many people will be surprised to find out what resources will be limited--and what deals have already been cut for existing rights.

My family told me about the food rationing and the food stamps they would have to take to the store, in order to buy their meat. Must have been quite a bad time.

Except for cotton, soybeans, wheat, and corn the US doesn't seem to have much of the world's resources. But I hear that we have most of the helium production (as a byproduct of our oil refining).

We do lead in weapons as well. We're arming the whole world for, well, profit, I think.
