One overlooked Google Me acquisition was labpixes.com back in April, could it be these iGoogle flash gadget markers are going to be important to iGoogle's future?

Per what Chris shared in the interview, when logging into my Google apps account I received a notice indicating change is coming to my app with a link to the list of services they will have available to incorporate into my app.

MarketProfessor,
You always keep me tuned into when important things are reshaping that impact my online marketing. Thanks!

Nice to hear from you. Thanks for saying so. So many have helped me, glad to offer the same.

I don't really get what this is.

We can create custom gadgets ourselves for iGoogle that share activity like YouTube, Google Buzz, Digg, Stumble, what ever we want. So we the users of Google Me / iGoogle can create social layouts as we prefer to see them.
Does that make sense? Totally custom social dashboard, like Seesmic, but we have control of the content and formatting....

As Chris Lang points out:
"We can create custom gadgets ourselves for iGoogle that share activity like YouTube, Google Buzz, Digg, Stumble, what ever we want. So we the users of Google Me / iGoogle can create social layouts as we prefer to see them."
Imagine the power of being able to link-up all your social apps and activity from one place... and integrated into Google "real-time" search....

If the prediction proves out, for it to succeed, it will need to attractive enough for many to change their social behavior. Hopefully "one place" functionality will have enough mass appeal, unless there is something else.

Where I think this will fall down?
Currently based on what I see in Google Buzz... the speed with which they bring in data - Google Reader is using PUSH (Pbsubhubbub) so is iGoogle yet Buzz can take hours to show a blog post.
Tweets come into Buzz in clumps rather than as it happens, and for a conversation on Twitter it has to be real time.
amyvernonSep 22, 2010
Yeah, I've noticed that with Buzz. Find it rather annoying.
crashlingSep 22, 2010
Andy, are you sure this is not because they are using FriendFeed? Aggregating Tweets is always a mistake. Also mass Google Reader sharing can flood the feed. I choose only content suited to discussion for Buzz. Not just anything I want to share.
I disconnected all sites from Buzz just to avoid over posting and duplicate items. But I definitely agree with you on that one.
andybeardSep 23, 2010
No it is the way Buzz works - I have even seen it happen with blog posts where 2 have been imported with the same timestamp. There was a significant time difference between the posts.

This is an exciting commentary on Google Me and what seems to be coming...I think it will be an easy changeover as so many already use Google Search and have their home pages set there....why not Google me if it is built right in..Looking forward to the second interview.

Really really interesting, glad this was pointed out to me. I was going through allot of google products yesterday, no one has it mastered like them, I for one will be keenly watching.
marketprofessorSep 22, 2010Submitter
It is amazing once you count them up, there is over 60! How can anyone make use of them all? (Unless they are centralized in some way)
davidtcSep 22, 2010
This entire site is full of spam. Every link to "find out more" was full of spam.
rocquesdiggsSep 26, 2010
I have found that sometimes I can find things on my iGoogle and the next time I look for them they are gone. I have certain people that I try to follow on YouTube and wanted to carry that into iGoogle. It seemed to work, but then it seemed to stop. I guess I just need to spend more time with it.
marketprofessorSep 28, 2010Submitter
I've asked Chris about that, and he indicated that when Google is updating/testing services come and go.
