- sunnyd, on 10/12/2007, -8/+119dugg just because I can now understand the lyrics to that song with this version
- birch25, on 10/12/2007, -6/+106i think this cover should open the eyes of some people who think hip hip is mindless lyrics set to a beat. i for one, only gained respect for the song after hearing this lo-fi version of it.
- szelij, on 10/12/2007, -3/+84I like his voice. Will check his stuff out.
- danielxmorris, on 10/12/2007, -1/+77That's a mighty beard he has.
- scrit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+49Yeah, it's a band named Obadiah Parker. That lead singer is Mat. I'm actually friends with them and it's awesome that so many people like them. I was so excited to see them on here. They do some really cool stuff even just outside of covers.

They're based out of Phoenix, AZ. And if anyone lives around there, they used to play a lot at a place called Eddie Matneys. So you can look out for them - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+45jeez... that actually works.
- GrendelT, on 10/12/2007, -4/+42It's where his magic hip-hop cover song powers emanate from.
- lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39Very very nice, I especially like how he did the "whats cooler than being cool?" part
ice cold, obadiah, ice cold. - Miyazaki, on 10/12/2007, -10/+46Digg me down for being all lame and *****, but here's the song on myspace....

- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19That guy isn't anything close to a hippie. He has a good voice though..I like this version better.
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21"i think this cover should open the eyes of some people who think hip hip is mindless lyrics set to a beat. i for one, only gained respect for the song after hearing this lo-fi version of it."
I agree. It also shows the versatility of the song. - markperia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19i think outkast themselves should pick these artists up and compile different renditions of theirs songs and release it to the public. They're one of those few artist that likes to try different things in music. They're actually the only "hip-hop" group I listen to nowadays.
- eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18"Personally, I think most hip-hop artist get too into doing the flashy and fancy beats, when honestly all it takes sometimes is a good guitar player, good lyrics, and a good singer."
So what you're saying is "not rap". - eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Holy *****, indie music I like. This is unheard of.
- GrendelT, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15And big men with beards singing plaintively hate you.
- paulansorge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14That was beautiful...
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14hey everyone, this is "fotizmo" from youtube (the guy that pieced together and uploaded the video). i have an mp3 pulled from the audio track of the original copy of the video. if you can start a torrent, let me know, and i'll get you the highest quality mp3 of this song. i've tried uploading it to TPB, but whenever i submit my torrent, the server becomes unresponsive
thanks for all your support everyone! if you're in arizona, come to their next live show @ The One Place in Phoenix on the 25th! - vh1`, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14if you like the way he sounds, you'd probably like iron & wine
- ArxUmbra, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Support Indie Musicians! Buy the EP!

Only 7.50 with shipping! - skaughtm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8i agree with the guy above. this style really puts the lyrics in a different light.
- spinningobo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8My mistake, I left out a string in the first chord, haha.
C should be x32013.
But you all knew that anyway. ;) - GrendelT, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14Based on these 2 covers, Obadiah Parker wins over The (moaning) Vines.
- littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Give this guy a record contract.
- oxine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I agree....nice job Jeremiah Johnson!
- AboveBeyond, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Indeed, they dont' degrade themselves with sex, violence, and money--all things I hate in hip-hop/rap.
- TTCross, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think he looks more like a Shaker (literally) than a hippie. I think there's a pun in there.
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7http://rapidshare.de/files/30022339/Mat_Weddle_-_Hey_ya_acoustic_cover.mp3
- reject, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Thanks, man. I just e-mailed them, asking where to send a check for their EP and where I could download or purchase a copy of the cover. Thanks again, Miyazaki!
- chandler, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7tambien
- elroy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7"Personally, I think most hip-hop artist get too into doing the flashy and fancy beats, when honestly all it takes sometimes is a good guitar player, good lyrics, and a good singer."
The key to good hip hop is guitar + singing? That's the funniest ***** I've heard all day. I can't stop laughing. I had to share it with all my friends. Keep up the good work! - Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Great, just what I needed -- a "dat" guy.
- battlefield1985, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Me Gusta.
- shout, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Very good version.
- allenu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm allowed to have an opinion aren't I?
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5does anyone here like Bjork? here's another cover that people tend to love... but i didn't make a nifty video for this one, so it hasn't taken the blogosphere by storm :(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SdAJSKsxnA - unitedkronos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If there's ever an acoustic tribute to Outkast CD released, this guy must be on it.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4get on youtube and message the guy that uploaded the video. he'll give you an mp3 pulled from the original copy of the video :)
("the guy" == "me" && "he'll" == "i'll")
;-) - Gizmort, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Someone said truly great songs can be preformed with an acoustic guitar and single vocal. This proves that theory I think.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4go to your volume control and uncheck the "mute" box... judging a song by the singer's facial hair really shows someone's lack of musical expertise
also, listen to the original.. he slowed it down significantly, and smoothed it out a TON.. it's not like you could take a song like that and make it sound good at 51BPM - invader, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4be patient though.. due to sudden demand, there will be most likely be a delay
thanks! and keep supporting my friends @ Obadiah Parker! - spanishcarlos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Very cool! BTW, I found the chords here: http://www.fretplay.com/tabs/o/outkast/hey_ya-crd.shtml
Haven't tried them yet but I'll definitely will. - brharris, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Just bought one, this is great stuff.
