- coldeh, on 07/07/2009, -14/+356Wait. Michael Jackson is dead? Why has this not been on the news.
- shaughn13, on 07/07/2009, -6/+251Memorial, not funeral. There is a difference.
- FirstCuts, on 07/07/2009, -8/+249I wonder how these people felt as they watched Michael Jackson's little girl Paris cry. Maybe it finally hit them they were at someone's funeral.
- borez, on 07/07/2009, -3/+211It was more a celebration of his life, and for that reason you can smile. I mean if you wanna go down that route maybe they should have played all his songs in D minor.
- asnider, on 07/07/2009, -3/+169Personally, I think a giant party would be a great way to be remembered. When I die, I want everyone to get *****-faced and take pictures with my corpse.
- TheCheeks, on 07/07/2009, -4/+142You ARE allowed to celebrate someone's life. Who the hell says it HAS to be all somber?
- yoshiboy, on 07/07/2009, -19/+146Jimmy Fallon is not funny.
- slicksoul999, on 07/07/2009, -6/+110Just another excuse for people to party
- TDDebug, on 07/07/2009, -26/+125It was never proven. Don't call it a "fact".
- Anand999, on 07/07/2009, -1/+90That was a truly sad moment. Regardless of all the other stuff Michael Jackson may or may not have done, the fact is there are 3 kids that have had their world completely shattered. They're beautiful kids and I hope they can live a normal, peaceful life after all of this is over with.
- pintomp3, on 07/07/2009, -3/+73Some people choose to mourn the death, some choose to celebrate the life.
- KevinRosa, on 07/07/2009, -14/+82R.I.P BILLY MAYS
- Projektorboy, on 07/07/2009, -4/+58Maybe I'm just crazy, but with the way Michael Jackson lived and his attitude towards people in general, he'd have wanted smiles, laughter, and celebration. Not tearful & depressing mourning.
- benburned, on 07/07/2009, -1/+48You're right, it also pisses me off that Sarah Palin isn't being covered anymore.
- zeth006, on 07/07/2009, -1/+43Dunno why you're getting dugg down.
1. The kid who screamed child molester later admitted his mom pressured him to do it. We'll leave out why someone would do it.
2. One should wonder about the kid's mom's mental state. In court, she causes the entire jury to erupt into laughter over her claim that Jackson wants to kidnap her and her family with a hot-air balloon.
3. LA Times article I read during the trial proceedings mention other accusations she's made against innocent people. She accused a couple of JC Penny security guards of roughing her up and she shows bruises. One other article I came across briefly a while back mentions how the kid's mom's paralegal gave testimony that was unfavorable to the prosecution on this separate case. The paralegal spoke of how the mom admitted that the bruises were actually created by her ex-husband and how she sent her kid to acting classes for this later event).
(Kind of makes me wonder whether I should just drop law school and just become a paralegal. No lawyer-client privileges FTW).
I don't need to provide links for all this information, it's on teh inderwebz. Go look it up and stop believing everything the sensationalist media is telling you. If you have a college degree, you should know how bad the news television stations are these days. - immatellyouwhat, on 07/07/2009, -5/+45Shamone!
- inactive, on 07/07/2009, -2/+37imho, i would rather have people getting drunk and ***** up at my funeral.. in fact, if they werent getting ***** up and having a good time, i wouldnt want to have a funeral at all.
- brainiac8008, on 07/07/2009, -3/+36I like the part where everybody loves him once he dies, and praise him for being so wonderful while we know he was struggling. They all claim they knew him so well but where were they when he was having trouble? Now they are going to make money of off his death by releasing new songs "in memory" of Jackson, and someone will be making a ton of money off of Jackson's songs once they hit the top of the charts again. It's all about the money - sickening.
- Ishiguro, on 07/07/2009, -4/+36Where's the "bury Michael Jackson" button on digg?
- ParticleMan420, on 07/07/2009, -0/+31i guess you dont watch the news much. he wasnt the father and the mother wasnt the mother. they were a donated egg and sperm.
- ArmandoM, on 07/07/2009, -1/+31Besides...he hasn't been black for what, like 15 years now?
- wolfdog1, on 07/07/2009, -2/+29I dont get why people have to be sad during funerals or memorial services. Like sure the death itsself is sad, but why not relive hilarious memories of the dead? Why not celebrate the person's LIFE instead of mourn their death? Every funeral I've gone to, was never completely tears and sorrow... they've mostly been bittersweet farewell parties, with laughter.
For example.. my friend passed, and instead of crying and sobbing during the funeral, we all laughed and joked about the time our group of friends fell down this big hill into a frog pond LOL... good times good times. - apackofmonkeys, on 07/07/2009, -15/+41MJ fans are really freaking me out. I heard one girl telling my wife a 15-minute story about when she found out he'd died, and how she cried and took off work and sobbed some more and watched the news until 2am blah blah blah. Good lord people, you've never even MET him, why are you acting the same as if a close family member died?
- bbhill, on 07/07/2009, -9/+33jesus christ people. He was never convicted for molesting any children. He's arguably the greatest influence in the last century of music. I don't know why there are so many irrational hate remarks on every single mj article. From what I've seen from his interviews, he seemed like a really nice dude. Kinda ***** up, but he had a screwed up dad.
- BxBoy, on 07/07/2009, -1/+25and NEVER will be!
- asnider, on 07/07/2009, -0/+23I'm not sure about the whole "covered in *****" thing, but otherwise, why not? It's not like I'll be around to see it, so everyone else might as well have a good time.
- spookyturtle, on 07/07/2009, -0/+23Even if/though the kids aren't his biologically, you'd be disregarding all adoptive parents claiming that he isn't their father. Whether they have his DNA or not really isn't the issue. To her, he still was her father.
- sauron256, on 07/07/2009, -3/+24***** off, troll.
- ddawggin, on 07/07/2009, -0/+21I've always been a fan of the New Orleans style weddings. When I go, I hope theres a jazz band and more libations than you can shake a stick at.
- Chrysalii, on 07/07/2009, -17/+36I guess you forgot that he was acquitted of it.
- ParticleMan420, on 07/07/2009, -1/+20how dare you show what people really thought for 20 years. dont you know he's dead and is n ow a saint for some reason? he's also considered black now too
- agentbob, on 07/07/2009, -0/+19umm i thought that she insisted on speaking and the family didn't want her to cause they knew she would break down
- luke374, on 07/07/2009, -2/+21And L.A. taxpayers get to foot the bill so a bunch of lottery winners and celebrities can go to a huge party for free!
- HeyaBILL, on 07/07/2009, -1/+20Indeed, the fact that he was acquitted does not mean he was innocent but it also does not give people grounds to run around proclaiming his guilt as if he were convicted in an open/shut case. Why is it so hard to simply admit that you do not know, that it no longer matters and let bygones be bygones? Acting like the man was convicted and hurling insults is just tacky and reveals a lot about you as a person.
The only people who know the truth are the children involved and Michael Jackson. It is easy to ask "if MJ was innocent, why did he settle" but it goes both ways. If the child was really molested, why did he pull out of the criminal case after the civil case was settled? Surely, justice is more important than 20 million dollars. Would the kind of person willing to withdraw from a criminal case for a cash settlement also be the kind of person willing to file a malicious lawsuit? I think so.
After spending weeks listening to arguments on both sides, a jury found Michael Jackson innocent on all 10 counts. You were not a member of this jury. You do not know all the facts.
tl;dr - You have no idea, admit that it is impossible to know the truth, stop being so tacky and let the man RIP. - tconnect80, on 07/07/2009, -0/+17It's the saddest of all keys
- serif69, on 07/07/2009, -3/+20Obviously Michael Jackson was Irish. That's how it is at Irish funerals.
- deadasdisco, on 07/07/2009, -0/+15most people who talk ***** about him are either pretty young or were (somehow) never a fan of his music. young kids' only memories of michael are news coverage about him doing weird *****, they don't know anything about the jackson five, or off the wall, or thriller, or bad, etc. etc. it's sad but there will NEVER be another superstar like michael.
- GreatSunJester, on 07/07/2009, -11/+25So.... having the Vienna Boys Choir in Mickey Mouse pajamas singing the gospel song "then he touched me" would be in bad form?
Too Soon? - morphinapg, on 07/07/2009, -4/+18Michael Jackson did not do this. He simply never had a childhood. Listen to the song he wrote called "Childhood" it explains many of his actions. He never had a childhood and so he bought a place where he could be a kid forever, neverland. Because he was a kid inside, he befriended kids best. To an average adult, this would seem strange, but to Michael, this was absolutely normal. He has confessed to having kids sleep over at his house, but the way he saw it he was a little kid and he was having a sleepover with all of his friends. There was nothing innapropriate going on. Like I said, normal adults will see this and automatically jump to the conclusion that he must have been abusing this children, but that is simply because they can't understand the way Michael Jackson thinks. The only reason these accusations came about was because of speculations and greed. People knew Michael had money and he would pay people off to avoid court, but in the last case, he decided to fight the charges, and he won. Officially by law, Michael Jackson is innocent, and from every single person I've heard from (apart from the accusers) that knew Michael Jackson was absolutely convinced he was innocent and that he was the nicest person and loving father they had ever met, and that he would never harm a child.
- TylerDuhrdan, on 07/07/2009, -0/+14Like GG?
- zoomaKabu, on 07/07/2009, -1/+15To get attention.
- RiotHeart, on 07/07/2009, -10/+23I'd scalp that ***** for so much
- skews13, on 07/07/2009, -2/+15You do know that you are dealing with pop star fans right? If you've ever watched an episode of american idol, you'll have a good understanding of who was at the memorial. This is the same demographic that makes up the majority of the current unemployment population. I can't figure out for the life of me why they can't get jobs. lol!
- CoreyTamas, on 07/07/2009, -0/+13You know... there's nothing wrong with people celebrating the life and accomplishments of someone they cared about. There's nothing wrong with singing songs and dancing and drinking and trying to focus on all the good instead of the bad. It means no disrespect, and when I said "this kind of behavior is inappropriate", that's not what I was referring to.
Wwhat I don't like are people who show up to buy or sell something; people who have no real interest in the deceased. I don't care for people who show up for the party without being concerned about the fact that maybe this death has been hard for family and friends. Even with booze, music and dancing... a wake is meant to honor the dead; it isn't a kegger party during frosh week. - inactive, on 07/08/2009, -5/+17People like you should take 10 to 20 seconds to think before they type, then delete it after.
- OfNumbers, on 07/07/2009, -4/+16His music makes me (and others) smile. I'm glad there are people having fun remembering him. He would have wanted that. Thanks Jimmy for being a dud of a comedian all over again. Obviously Mr. Fallon doesn't understand that comedians are supposed to understand more intrinsic emotional responses in people, this tends to help with formulating jokes.
- smartguy4932, on 07/07/2009, -6/+18Wow, some of these comments are horrendous.
- monkeyrun, on 07/07/2009, -2/+13They are happy they got the ticket, what's the problem?
btw it's a memorial, not exactly a funeral. - borez, on 07/07/2009, -1/+12As aeolian is a mode, therefore you wouldn't be able to transpose the songs, you could have a go, but you'd end up with some strange ass interpretations. Thriller... the Jewish folk music interpretation, Interesting.
- JoeB4ever, on 07/07/2009, -2/+13I really wish you weren't getting dugg down. The same hypocrites that laughed at those jokes are the same ones that are crying that he's gone.
