- Ganja420, on 02/12/2008, -1/+64this will be on the next metalocalypse and it will be 50 feet tall and will kill the audience.
- residentskitz, on 02/12/2008, -6/+59a tesla guitar amp? how shocking.
- analogkid, on 02/12/2008, -5/+52+ 1 for the light show, -1 for the tone... sounds like a paper shredder.
- moocowrat, on 02/12/2008, -4/+41i want to see this thing live, at a NIN concert, and standing 20 ft. tall. yes.
- ThinkBox, on 02/12/2008, -2/+35I can't wait for some rock-god to play a mind-numbing solo on this and then set their guitar on fire with their own music.
- holyspamcans, on 02/12/2008, -1/+23that's what i call an electric gutiar
- Confuzled, on 02/12/2008, -2/+23You DO NOT want feedback
- riceguitar, on 02/12/2008, -1/+15If I had that I'd tell some unsuspecting soul "Can you go put your ear to my amp to see if anything is coming out?"
- Skod, on 02/12/2008, -2/+12There's a HUGE difference in concept from playing coils with pre-determined pitches and having them play back raw audio....this is simply mind boggling.
- yikiad, on 02/12/2008, -1/+10doobies? you don't happen to have a mullet, do you?
- krnldmp, on 02/12/2008, -1/+10It would be cooler if he could figure out some sort of HF bias signal to avoid the gating effect of the output dropping down below an ionizing voltage. It would also be cooler if he could really play.
- schallis, on 02/12/2008, -1/+9Mario theme using tesla coils - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1O2jcfOylU :)
- RealmDown, on 02/12/2008, -1/+8It's the amps that get you.
- DanBoodro, on 02/12/2008, -2/+9you're a tool
- thtroyer, on 02/12/2008, -0/+7Interesting setup and sound... but definitely more of a toy than anything useful.
Makes me wonder if he uses any preprocessing or amplification before going to the tesla coil... or how the tesla coil is wired for that matter. - dafragsta, on 02/12/2008, -0/+6If you have to ask who NIN is at this point in the game, you won't like them anyway.
/NIN ftw. - gravylookout, on 02/12/2008, -1/+6For the Lazy: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=VX5V_9s0Gfw
- kyouteki, on 02/12/2008, -0/+5Bringing new meaning to the phrase "killer guitar solo".
- OrangeTide, on 02/12/2008, -1/+6yours is the most ridiculously pointless post I have ever seen.
- LordVance, on 02/12/2008, -0/+5...touched me deeply.
- piesforyou, on 02/12/2008, -0/+5Unless his guitar can generate 250,000 volts all by itself, I would say the signal is amplified before going to the tesla coil.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -0/+5Sounds like any normal Line6 amp to me...
- Bando, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4Strap them in, then play creeping death.
- cruzer2727, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4This should be implemented into capital punishment.
- windandstorm, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4There was a previous article with super mario bros (classic) song playing with the same telsa coil.
- tehAleksandrRox, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4RIDE THE LIGHTNING!
- LeeSoong, on 02/13/2008, -0/+4ATTENTION:
NO PLAYING OF STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN . - dafragsta, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4It wasn't the same one. It was way bigger.
- grantmoore3d, on 02/12/2008, -0/+4Given that I've been shocked by a guitar amp, and it hurt like hell, I can't image what would happen if you accidentally walked into that thing!!
- BoneheadFarker, on 02/12/2008, -0/+3@LordVance
Ok, good point... - GohanGVO, on 02/12/2008, -0/+3Metal.
- UliKunkel, on 02/12/2008, -0/+3That is so Weird!! I was just reading Tesla's Autobiography "My Inventions", when I decided to check out what was on digg.. Tesla was the 1st article that popped up! Synchronicity??
- zonk3r, on 02/12/2008, -0/+3Reminds me of Yahoo Serious' movie "Young Einstein" from back in the late 80's
linkage: http://www.yahooserious.com/einstein.html - dafragsta, on 02/12/2008, -0/+3How do people with expensive tesla coils and PRS guitars not have a shotgun mic or even a nice cheap condenser mic at a safe distance? It's always a ***** camcorder mic with cool stuff like this.
- BoneheadFarker, on 02/12/2008, -0/+3No. But my uncle, who I learned the word from...
- lucutus, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2here's another big one as opposed to the two in the other link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ff_AXVlo9U They do mario and tetris and more...
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2A little tweaking and it should sound awesome.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -2/+4SO METAL!!!
- darkzealot89, on 02/12/2008, -2/+4Dude in the pic? I am pretty sure that is Andrew Ryan...
- JasonHears, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2Whatever.. I have a Peavy amp in my garage that does the same thing.. And I didn't have to do anything but drop it a couple times...
- apseudonym, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2This is a super cool proof of concept. the first guitar amps were horrid sounding weak things, and less than a century later, the technology is an integral part of the entertainment industry. Using something other than an electro-magnet to resonate a piece of left over box or silicone implant is for teh cool. dugg for great concept, if not yet marketable tonal flexibility.
- blahtastic, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2Theres got to be a way to get it to sound like the mario coil at least. At that point I wouldn't mind it being used for a sound effect sort of thing in some songs.
- nphase, on 02/13/2008, -0/+2"How do we mic it?"
"Who cares?" - Frostek, on 02/13/2008, -0/+2Roger Moore - is that you?
- BoneheadFarker, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2..., did have a mullet.
Was that really so difficult to figure out? - mattbatt77, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2"hmmm, I don't hear anyth . . . "
*sizzzzle* - nonrate, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2Very innovative idea. Sorry, but it sounds like *****. But very innovative.
- centran, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2Warden: "This is it. Have you decided what you want to die to yet?"
Inmate 25601: "The End by The Doors"
Warden: "Excellent choice. Fry em boys!" - mattsegal, on 02/12/2008, -2/+4i see what you did there
