- thebeginning, on 10/23/2009, -23/+92Because he's freaking terrible.
- Frixionburne, on 10/23/2009, -4/+50Thanks for doing us all a favor.
We don't need to be getting shot when we mug people.
See what I did there? - mountain1488, on 10/23/2009, -3/+42Why is his sentence so severe?? Um last time I checked a 1 year sentence for a gun charge is nothing. He won't even serve the full year. What amazes me about all these cases involving rappers having illegal guns is that none of them ever learn. YOU'RE FILTHY RICH...JUST PAY SOMEONE TO FILL OUT YOUR FIREARM APPLICATION. Idiot deserves the sentence he got just for being a moron.
- gankige, on 10/23/2009, -0/+38I'm sure his sentence won't stop him releasing more records.
- jeremiahjw, on 10/23/2009, -1/+36Note to self: don't bring my gun with me if I ever go to NY.
- BrianGarceau, on 10/23/2009, -2/+31I guess Lil Wayne is going to die fighting because he rather be pushin' flowers than to be in da pen sharin' showers.
- kthoma22, on 10/23/2009, -2/+30I don't feel bad for Lil Wayne at all. He has the money to either hire off duty cops or security officers that can legally carry guns in NY. He could have had his lawyers look into gun laws in the places he tours. It is his own fault for being an idoit. Same thing goes for TI and his idiotic arrest.
- prompel, on 10/23/2009, -4/+30"That's why you should not have a gun in New York," Leemon advised.
Nuff said. - dontcthis, on 10/23/2009, -0/+24lil wayne =/= lil jon
- ProfessorLX, on 10/23/2009, -0/+21...or do we?
- snullbug, on 10/23/2009, -5/+22What the hell is "attempted possession"? Isn't possession an absolute? This is like "attempted pregnancy".
- RockeN5, on 10/23/2009, -1/+16It's an American citizen's right to have a weapon.
- ProfessorLX, on 10/23/2009, -1/+16you've never heard of a plea bargain?
wow you seriously gotta watch some L&O or CSI

ENHANCE - slvrbullet87, on 10/23/2009, -5/+19"Had the rapper not struck a deal with prosecutors, he could have been looking at a mandatory minimum of three and a half years in prison if he was found guilty by trial. "
He is going to end up serving 8 months... that doesnt sound too severe - gizram84, on 10/23/2009, -0/+13maybe we do and maybe we do...
- chesterogilvie, on 10/23/2009, -3/+16Need is irrelevant. Why do you need anything other than food and shelter? Why do you need free speech?
An unloaded firearm is more useless than a stick or club because a stick or a club has a greater effective range. - mrgreg, on 10/23/2009, -1/+13Wow, I can't believe you're getting dugg down for simply saying that people should be able to own firearms. You idiots digging rajun50 down really pick and choose your Constitutional rights, don't you?
- r1ptide64, on 10/23/2009, -0/+12So what would you call it if a woman tried to get pregnant but was not able to conceive?
- errik03, on 10/23/2009, -1/+13nah dog nah, nah dog ***** aint gangsta
- jeremiahjw, on 10/23/2009, -2/+14I had no idea that gun laws were so strict in NY. I mean, what good is an unloaded gun?
Thanks a lot Hillary! - charlietuna, on 10/23/2009, -8/+20People are confusing NY City with NY state. Believe me, outside of the city, guns abound. And though I see a use for long guns (I have two), increasingly I think handguns are pure evil. Weapons demand personal responsibility; ***** need not apply.
- 56kCowboy, on 10/23/2009, -5/+16The mayor of New York can have State Police with submachine guns protecting him, but some guys wife will go to jail if she shoots an attempted racist with an 'illegal gun'. Gun laws are about control, not safety, because criminals won't heed the law anyway. That's why this whole ***** about 'illegal guns' is tyranny. I have as much right to protect myself by any means necessary as any goddam politician. It's better to have a gun and not need one than to need a gun and not have one.
- sgerwel1985, on 10/23/2009, -2/+13Not saying i support that law in NY (not that i understand it to a T), but the man did break their law so...
- rajun50, on 10/23/2009, -16/+26I'm not a fan of "lil Wayne" or whatever his name is, but I think New York's gun laws are unconstitutional. People should be able to have weapons with the proper permit and the permit should be obtainable. An unloaded firearm is little more than a stick or club.
- burntcookie90, on 10/23/2009, -2/+12his record sales are going to skyrockets because now, people think he's even more of a badass
- brickwall99, on 10/23/2009, -4/+13I don't give a *****.
I'd rather ponder why ***** stinks. - greaseddeafguy, on 10/23/2009, -19/+27Dear MTV: Don't tell your viewers to vote for ultr-liberal gun grabbers and then complain when some POS rapper gets locked up for a gun crime in an ultr-liberal city.
- gizram84, on 10/23/2009, -5/+13hell yea, let's just start picking which rights we like and which we should just give up for the sake of the big government power! down with freedom!!!
- NidStyles, on 10/23/2009, -0/+8How the ***** is NYC different than any other city?
- PsychoDaaad, on 10/23/2009, -3/+11thats because nobody else is good anymore. If he were to die, one of my gym socks will be the next biggest rapper alive.
- dustbowl, on 10/23/2009, -3/+11LMAO I see the negative diggs, but you have nothing to back up why 'Little Wayne' is the 'Greatest Rapper of all time' or whatever his record labels marketing team tried to make everyone believe...
If you think I'm wrong, tell me why, don't just give me negative diggs.
Don't mistake 'quantity as quality', you can still sound ***** even if you are featured on 1 Million mix tapes.
***** Little Wayne, I'd rather listen to Public Enemy. Poor Righteous Teachers or Brand Nubian. - moxley, on 10/23/2009, -0/+8No, it's not, not everywhere..It all depends on where you live....and it isn't that easy in NYC - a lot of big cities make it extremely difficult.
Where I live, in Philly - if you're in the suburbs it's very easy as long as you don't have a criminal record, but in the city it's more difficult. - snullbug, on 10/23/2009, -0/+8Yeah, I'm still not buying it. The gun was on his bus, was he rushing to get it and turn it on the cops when they searched the bus? Was he reaching for it? Was someone else on the bus about to hand it to him? It's just a really fishy charge. Either he owned the gun or he didn't.
- kyleanna, on 10/23/2009, -3/+10Whoa whoa whoa: "Wayne pleaded guilty to a class "D" violent felony of attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree; the charges stem from a July 2007 arrest."
So your telling me that he is just now getting sentenced? After more than *two* years? Why wasnt he locked up sentenced and locked up quicker?
But then we would have missed such classics such as "A Milli", "Got Money", and "Lollipop". /s
Ugh.. I hate Lil Wayne. >.< - chesterogilvie, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6mikebites - You just illustrated for us why gun control doesn't work. The cities with the most "gun control" have the most gun crimes. Odd, isn't it?
- NidStyles, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6I say let them vote for someone that isn't a corporate tool.
- drunkCatholic, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6@mikebites
don't you find it weird that states with strict gun laws have such high gun crime? - SimonWatson, on 10/23/2009, -5/+11I don't understand anything about how this works
First of all:
the gun was legally registered to someone else on the bus
Second:
How do you strike a deal? you're either guilty or you're not guilty, how can you say "you can accept 8 months in jail or we can continue and if we find you guilty you'll get 3 years in jail"
makes no sense at all.
and what about the 15 other people who were on the tour bus? did they just charge wayne because he's famous? - ricodued, on 10/23/2009, -0/+6Probably like how you can attempt to possess cocaine.. if you're trying to buy it from an undercover cop. You never had it, but you had the intent and means to do so.
- Heiminator, on 10/23/2009, -2/+8you forgot the /s there mate....
- moxley, on 10/23/2009, -1/+6Amen brother.
- Jones82, on 10/23/2009, -4/+9close enough
- Hetman, on 10/23/2009, -1/+6Where is the NRA. They should be all over this. They should be paying for little waynes lawyers. This is a perfect oppurtunity for them to help take away gun free zones. I wonder why they are not helping this man out?
- gizram84, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5what don't you understand? he wasn't proven guilty yet. going to trial is taking a risk. you can risk gettings 3.5 years or getting nothing at all, or you can take an 8 month sentence.
limit your risk. it's a pretty simple concept. - spacebuddy, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4Who the ***** is Lil Wayne?
- shnuffy, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4How about don't have an illegal gun? This is so straight-forward.
- moxley, on 10/23/2009, -7/+11L'il Wayne = Lil Bitch.
- boombye, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4In county jail, you'll still find people waiting 5 years for their first court date...Say they got a 10mil D-Bond, their family has to get 1mil...Lot of the people just sitting and waiting for their first date were locked up and sent right away on the mere fact that they were suspects, and lot of the times they are probably innocent for all we know but they don't get proper defense to argue their case, it's usually some guy who's in a hurry to rush to the next case because everything's all backed up. There are even underage minors in county jails, serving time with grown ass adults, all because they matched the identity of a shooter or other guy, most of the time they're just picked up because they're a known gang banger and left to fend for themselves even if they did something or not. But if you have money or people who can support you, then you might be okay.
- SimonWatson, on 10/23/2009, -2/+6well his last album sold 1.4 million in a week, they can't exactly sky rocket...
Jay-Z doesn't even do those numbers in a month after a new album release. - JRowe3388, on 10/23/2009, -3/+7She should have obtained that gun through legal means.
