God I miss good hip-hop. - triscuitbiscuit, on 10/11/2007, -2/+60Was this song written by Vista's voice recognition?
- sonick, on 10/11/2007, -9/+61I prefer this to the actual version, it's less obnoxious.
- UglieJosh, on 10/11/2007, -2/+46From "The Message" by: Grand Master Flash
A child was born, with no state of mind
Blind to the ways of mankind
God is smiling on you but hes frowning too
Cause only God knows what you go through
You grow in the ghetto, living second rate
And your eyes will sing a song of deep hate
The places you play and where you stay
Looks like one great big alley way
Youll admire all the number book takers
Thugs, pimps, pushers and the big money makers
Driving big cars, spending twenties and tens
And you wanna grow up to be just like them
Smugglers, scrambles, burglars, gamblers
Pickpockets, peddlers and even pan-handlers
You say Im cool, Im no fool
But then you wind up dropping out of high school
Now youre unemployed, null n void
Walking around like youre pretty boy floyd
Turned stickup kid, look what you done did
Got send up for a eight year bid
Now your manhood is took and youre a may tag
Spend the next two years as an undercover fag
Being used and abused, and served like hell
Till one day you was found hung dead in a cell
It was plain to see that your life was lost
You was cold and your body swung back and forth
But now your eyes sing the sad sad song
Of how you live so fast and die so young
This is a recent problem. As you can see, rap wasn't always like this. - kinseyincanada, on 10/11/2007, -21/+61@ rafiparr you seriously are comparing T-pain to zeppelin? the difference between a vulgar zeppelin song and a vulgar mainstream Rap song is zeppelin backed it up with talent and amazing music, not just some ***** club beat that chicks can shake their ass at. today's mainstream rap music and most mainstream music in general is garbage, there are incredibly talented rap artists out there, immortal technique, MC Chris just to name a few.
- dbhaley, on 10/11/2007, -2/+41I love the conversation.
- TheWedge, on 10/11/2007, -3/+41@kinseyincanada:
I think rafiparrr made the exact same point you did, you just didn't read his full post. - t3hCyborg, on 10/11/2007, -4/+41I don't know just how to respond, so I'll say two things and you can pick your favorite:
"lol, people take hip-hop wayyy too seriously."
A. This is a comedy video pointing out how bad the lyrics actually are.
B. You're right, the lyrics are too crappy, idiotic and nonsensical to be taken seriously. - pbuenro, on 10/11/2007, -5/+37Its still around man....just not on the radio
With Semi Underground artists like The Roots, Common, Redman, Little Brother, etc. theres still good hip hop.... - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+29This is why I’m hot(x2)
This is why(x2) uh
This is why I’m hot (uh)
This is why I’m hot(x2) whoo
This is why(x2)
This is why I’m hot
>. - foxymcfox, on 10/11/2007, -6/+34Wow, this song made it all the way to number exclamation point?! Congrats for somehow getting a song above number 1, to "shift+1" to be precise.
- Berkana, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20I thought he was having sex with the woman; next thing you know, he runs her over with his damn car so fast it tears her legs off so hard they hit the chandeliers. F'ing brutal.
- puredeviation, on 10/11/2007, -2/+21@t3hcyborg,
Indeed the lyrics are dumb, but this song can't compare to MIMMS - This is why I'm hot. The lyrics are absolutely terrible and they make no sense at all..."I'm hot cause I'm fly. You ain't cause you're not " - RafiParrr, on 10/11/2007, -25/+43Ok, here's an excerpt from Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love":
"Youve been coolin, baby, Ive been droolin,
All the good times Ive been misusin,
Way, way down inside, Im gonna give you my love,
Im gonna give you every inch of my love,
Gonna give you my love.
Yeah! all right! lets go!
Wanna whole lotta love? "
Now, this is perhaps not as gramatically painful as Mr. T-Pain's song, but it is twice as vulgar. I'm not defending modern rap music; I'm simply pointing out that a good argument against it should not revolve around the lyrics, as lyrics themselves are not music. You can watch the real video there on youTube and see the real problem: reptitive, uninspired musical attrocities formulated by record companies to exploit sales. The same beats and melodies as countless other questionably named rap "artists." Zeppelin's music, though the lyrics also leave a lot to be desired, at least pushed the boundaries on what others had done previously and innovated in many ways. - Erik1, on 10/11/2007, -5/+22@ chingmiester
I find Immortal Technique is a little too intense for my liking, and I think most people will agree with me...
For example:
And n*ggas wonder why my heart is full of hatred and anger // Cause some bitch killed my first born son with a coat hanger
:/ - eplawless, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19^ I just did, and I would not suggest that anyone listen to it

credit to phantasmik - kosmoX, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16"now I have an orange mess"
There's a 'that's what she said' joke in there somewhere. - CapeKid, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14@kosmox
...One about the Kool Aid Man's wife... - manningbc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Nah, I think it was written by a hobo. Don't worry, he got paid as many as two PBJ sandwiches.
- Nitro187, on 10/11/2007, -14/+24Man, they shouldn't publish songs by coke heads.
- The0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Oh dear god I might just expose myself to some radiation in a long-shot attempt to grow some more appendages so I can give you more than 2 thumbs up, because I'm damn sure you deserve it for pointing that out.
That song is the epitome of *****. - Chingmiester, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10You gotta check out Immortal Technique. Real good underground rap.
- Frisbinator, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7The club scene in the last decade is the primary reason this type of music is so prominent nowadays. The masses who frequent modern dance clubs seem to favor uncomplicated hip-hop sexual lyrics and dissonant rythm with high bass as opposed to what most people would consider music or most importantly, GOOD music. So, in other words, there is an entire culture nowadays that supports this because going to the club is just the adult hip thing to do. That's my two cents anyway.
- gurm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Kinda reminded me of James Lipton doing K-Fed:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZZGB7dOypU - puredeviation, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10I was drinking some Fanta and right when he said Ooh Oh Oh OOh I started laughing... now I have an orange mess.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7atmosphere, lupe fiasco, MF Doom, Eyedea, and ill even go as far as to say Will Smith his last CD was very well done (prepares to get dugg down). Rap isn't dead, radio stations just make it seem that way and let these "artists" get away with it.
- BackEnThaWomb, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7oh noes...now the exclamation point is taking over the one spot...
i knew this would happen ! day11111 - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5JUST WTF!?!?! Seriously, what I can't believe is that there are enough morons out there who will listen to this crap to make it profitable. Between this and "This is why I'm hot"... Gah! Almost doesn't seem to matter what they're even saying, if it's dumb enough, it'll sell.
Oy... I have to listen to this crap every day on the way to work. Seriously, it's just painful to actually try and listen to the lyrics. I wish it were all in a foreign language or something. - mashlin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY7pM8k8moY
- onionblaster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5@kosmox
"Now I have an orange mess."
"That's what she said!"
somehow I found the joke. - newyawker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5What's funny is that another rap song with crap lyrics "This is why I'm hot, this is why I'm hot, I'm hot cause I'm fly, you ain't cause you not", makes fun of crappy rap lyrics by saying "i dont gotta rap i can sell a mill sayin nothin on a track"
- tafkaz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I'm gonna go ahead right now and claim that there is a stark difference between T-Pain and the Beatles. There are still very legitimate artists out right now producing very legitimate music. However, I can proudly claim I don't think T-Pain is one of those artists. For proof of this, see the video you just commented on. There has always been terrible pop music to be produced. In the 60's we had bubblegum pop that was written by old white men for young white boys to sing. In the 70's we had old white men writing disco for young white kids to dance to. There will always be ***** music being produced, just as there has always been great music being produced.
- forumz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6@djblast
To me, this isn't deserving as being classified under hip-hop.
"I'm T-Pain, You Know Me
Konvict Music Have Every Boy Like Ohh Wee"
Man, that's some deep stuff right there. - Tayls, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4@idevlabsdotcom: Dude, this is obviously one of the most idiotic songs ever "written." The problem is that there are hundreds of these made everyday, and played over the collective sound waves. You have to admit that this is garbage music. For me, though, it's not about getting old. I'm all about modern music, as the indie scene is really picking up and underground music is only getting better. Listen past this trivial horse *****, and you'll discover a whole new, amazing sounding world.
- lillevillewilly, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4What's funny is that many women swoon to that kind of music (the original). Are they really that dumb?
- teiren474, on 10/11/2007, -6/+9why i hate rap
- foxymcfox, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Toy Story 2 was okay.
- m0d3s7m1k3, on 10/11/2007, -6/+9Another song that sets black people everywhere 30 years into the past.
- p0tent1al, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6I like rap, and this song is alright.
But the way this guy recites it is HILLARIOUS.
Oh and just for the record, songs like these aren't meant to make sense. They are meant to have a good beat and rhythm for people to dance to at clubs. This is a club song, nothing more. - spencewah, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Looks like digg doesn't agree with you T_T
- Doghound, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3@JenadaeXX
Atmosphere FTW! Representing everything between the East and the West coasts! And on a very cool, chill, and relax note too! Not "I'm gonna kill this bitch because she stole my man", but "I love this part of the country because it doesn't have all that ***** Hollywood crap!"
I expect to get dugg down (or not dugg at all), but at least I know and respect that there are rappers/hip-hoppers out there that hold true to stories other than crack, *****, insults, and all the other ***** mainstream rap has become about. - JoeJacobs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Dear lord I was on the floor rolling around laughing...... is there something wrong with me?
- StickWST, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Yeah atmospere is easily my favorite MC. Great lyrics, nice flow, and just another artist thats from Minnesota. Lupe fiasco is also great.
- Gryffydd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2http://www.bash.org/?329292
- MikeOSX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2There is plenty of good hip hop out there with deep lyrics. Unfortunately, those songs are not what gets club play or radio spins. It is crappy songs like this that do. T-Pain is just making his money.
- Scarfy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2While we're making lists I must say: Del tha Funkee Homosapien. Look him up.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Becuase maistream rap is dead.
