- DeusNova, on 06/03/2008, -2/+8It's funny but it's probably not Japanese. Japanese is heavily syllable based. It has limited syllables, that's why everything sounds the same in Japanese when you first hear the language. Since it has limited syllables it wouldn't be Japanese, anyways the Japanese wouldn't do something like this, they're good with English spelling for the most. It'd be written in katakana (Japanese writing system) and there's some syllables that wouldn't fit into the Japanese language. It would be something like: エリック クラプトン, eriku kuraputon Not even close to crapton.
Okay, I take stuff too seriously. =( - tehbored, on 06/03/2008, -0/+5Right, because people totally listen to spammer.

- SquigglyP, on 06/03/2008, -1/+4The "R" in "Crapton" would be pronounced like an "L". The romanized version of their language contains no "L"s, but the "R" sound they have is somewhere between an R and an L sound ... It sounds more like an L.
Interestingly, the southern asian languages are generally the other way around. They make really thick "R" sounds, but have a hard time with "L"s, hence "Lollapalooza" = roraparooza in Vietnam, which was how that concert got it's name. - robbiemuffin, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3Do you speak japanese? It's my understanding that romanji is standardized... I mean that, that spelling actually _is_ correct. Well, maybe ... there might be some mora-filling vowels missing in there... 3 consonants look fishy.
I definitely have seen place names transliterated like this. - SquigglyP, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3They're not going to delete your account because you're supporting McCain, you ***** retard. They'll delete your account for spamming your stupid ***** all over their site.
Besides, Digg isn't apparently the greatest place to advertise your candidate. Look what happened to Ron Paul. - s0nicfreak, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3Because he sees what they did there.
- emailingRob, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3You again? If you want us to read this, you need to reassemble it into a top ten list.

Not really. Have you never visited engrish.com? I lived in Japan for years and I saw stuff like this all the time. After the first few months you stop pointing it out because it is literally everywhere.
L/R confusion is just the tip of the iceberg, but very very common. For foreign names, where they are _pretty sure_ of most of the spelling, they still may have to guess on the l/r part (eg, "Blad Pitt", as one of my students wrote [hey, at least she stopped writing it "Buladdo Pitto", I had no idea who the hell she was writing about]). One of my Japanese-language teachers had a real problem with differing words that share l/r placements. Royalty=Loyalty, Law fish for lunch, etc, and this is after she had lived in the US for 20+ years. A Japanese friend who scored in the top 99.4% of the TOEIC (ie, near perfect fluency) still does this sometimes. - glory, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2Flied Lice you mean? Yes velly savoly.
- bgfinkel, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1ooo.......intimidating. but seriously, have you really run out of enough places to campaign to resort to digg? or do you just want to be a gigantic, intolerant dick for kicks.
- ultragush, on 06/08/2008, -0/+1wtf are you talking about? seriously. two words for you "blues rock".... literally the equivalent of hardcore metal back in the 60s in terms of its fans, but so unlike hardcore metal.
listen to the beano album please - Myonosken, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1herro
- enderwiggen16, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1Well I'm being buried for some reason. This submission was just a picture saved from engrish.com and uploaded onto some asshats flickr account, and submitted for GREAT SUCCESS!
If I wanted to see this ***** I'd go to engrish, just like I would go to 4chan, or Obama's website for half the other ***** that gets posted on Digg.

- jordanlgta, on 06/03/2008, -3/+4I watched that Seinfeld episode two hours ago! Stalker!
- prosayik, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I do. It is standarized however there is a limited number of sounds. So when taking foreign words with r and l sounds from English to either romanji or katakana you have to make some choices, i.e. brown or blown.
