- Hubris, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20New cd from Wierd Al......have to digg it.
I've been a fan from his fairly early days in the 80's. - gelgod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17that's the genius. It dares to be stupid!!
- Wardvark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Hardware store is one of my favorites, the list in that is insane.
- ant9821, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Weird Al is the man. Smells Like Nirvana is probably one of my favorites.
- jayj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I don't understand why the headline is "Here to stay", he's only been around 25 years already...
- ahhfresh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It's all about the Pentiums baby...
- greymaxcat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8UHF Anyone?
- Jwoey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9My favorite two are definitely Gump and Amish Paradise. doesnt get any better.
- kingp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I made this post in the other thread about Weird Al, but it's still relevant here.
I'm glad Al finally hit the top 10. He's really a great musician and is very underrated in my opinion. Anyone wanting to download his two free tracks can get them here (available in mp3, aac, and ogg formats):

I'm also negotiating with Sony BMG (Al's parent label) to distribute this album digitally through our store with NO DRM attached. It would be a sweet deal. - Keldryn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Weird Al is awesome; I've been a fan since I first got the "Eat It" 45 rpm single a good 22 years ago.
I disagree with some posters regarding the quality of "Straight Outta Lynnwood." I think it's one of his best albums, and certainly better than "Poodle Hat." - cyberghost232, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'll take the box Yoshi. AAAAAH. Nothing! Absolutely Nothing! Your soooo Stupid!
- dustedbunny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4When I was younger my dad had a videotape with all Weird Al's videos on it and I'd watch it all the time...I was glad to see he's still around.
- wthnow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Here is his real myspace page. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=90827837
Has a player at the top. "Don't download this song" is hilarious. - Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes! Easily one of my favorites.
Payin' the bills with my mad programming skills. Defragging my hard drive for thrills. - m1bxd, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Just get yourself a hit and "beat it"...
- thewaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3even worse was "even worse"? really!?
- thewaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yeah, you gotta give it to him, heard him on top20 radio the other day.
remember, it all started with an accordion : ) - titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Actually aaaz had the duplicate. What else is new.
- frogpelt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2He was talking about his own post, dude.
See above. - frogpelt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not only is it hilarious...It's also a free download.
- rude0197, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Another great job by Al. His take on the hip hop community is great while avoiding the obvious potholes
- nathanchase, on 05/06/2009, -0/+2"...the stone-faced luxury rock of Robert Plant's "Addicted to Love" as "Addicted to Spuds,"..."
I think Mr. Parker meant Robert Palmer, not Robert Plant. Man, that's some blooper! - wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Weird Al is da man. Been listening to him since he was just somebody new on the Dr. Demento show, which I recall listening to before I went to sleep on Sunday nights, before most of you were born. I was wondering if the good doctor was still around and: bingo:

If you scroll about halfway down there is a link to download a free (albeit low bitrate) mp3 of an unreleased Weird Al song. - mrneutron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I feel ooooooooooold.
- imikedaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"The point was to perturb the inhuman gloss of these artists with his homemade brand of wriggling idiocy"
"Al's songbook is a litany of these genial distortions."
""I'll Sue Ya," meanwhile, translates the indignant hyperbolics of activist punk-funkers Rage Against the Machine into a fit of consumer pique"
Oooooookayyyyyyyy.... time to put down the thesaurus buddy. - dahifi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just heard on NPR this morning that today is Al's 49(!!) birthday. Man I feel old
- loganz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i like his 'polkarama' song
http://www.urbnmix.net/index.php/music-video-code/weird_al_yankovik_polkarama_wierd/ - Tawni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1His white and nerdy hoodies are awesome. I can't wait to pick one up now that he is selling them again.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Weird Al's been around since I heard his first homemade tape sent into Dr. Demento (My Bologna) in 1978, and I heard on Cleveland's finest "The Vinyl Taste Test."
The only problem I had with the article was the very old photo of Weird Al. They could have bothered to find a more contemporary photo of Al, instead of just slapping on a stock photo from the 80s. He looks a lot different today. - thewaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The night santa went crazy. or i remember larry.. i grew up on bad hair day!
- Tawni, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2 One of my favorite memories was blasting that song down the Vegas strip during Comdex.
- FGFox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OMG NO DRM REALLY?!!! THX BRO!!!!!
- Ryosen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is. McCartney refused to give Al the rights on the grounds that he is a vegetarian see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%22Weird_Al%22_Yankovic). While he didn't/couldn't release it on CD, he still performs it in concerts.
- aquax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For Christmas 1987, when I was 6, my parents bought me a Walkman and Weird Al's "Weird Al in 3-D" and "Dare to be Stupid".
I've been hooked ever since. - rushpage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0God Bless Weird Al!
Happy Birthday, sir! - chillinit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What an idiot. But I'm gonna have to admit that he does make me laugh like crazy. But NOTHING will beat his polkarama. Now that's just the funniest and so original
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hey check out http://www.selfproclaimedexpert.com for more information about Weird Al and torrent files
- vandeley88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its about time Al got the recognition he deserves. I remember a few years back he was on TRL. I think they showed the premiere of "The Saga Begins". And Carson Daly said, "How does it feel to have your video on MTV?" And I was thinking, Dude! Weird Al has been on MTV since you were in diapers. Anyway, the new album is good, maybe not his best but its got some funny stuff on it. Can't wait for the tour.
- SaxxonPike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think he succeeds because no one else is doing this kind of music. At least, not that I know of. Satyrical isn't the kind of music you hear in movies, games, on the radio, etc. It's good because it's funny; it strikes a chord in those that like to play satire on fanboyism and popular songs.
Not to mention the videos just rock. My favorite has been the song "Fat" for the longest time, despite it being made before I was born. It was also the first Weird Al I've ever experienced, and I've been coming back for more. "Smells Like Nirvana" is awesome because... well, the lyrics were a bit difficult to understand in the original :) - javacola, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0great song ;)
- deusx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1What would be new is people bitching about lack of dupes. Now, that would be novel.
- cyberghost232, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I thought will all the geeks and nerds on this site someone would have mentioned
"It's all about the Pentiums baby". One of my favorites - Greaystone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0A polka version of gold digger !
Now I really have heard everything. - limbo666, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0More Weird Al at: http://www.indextube.com/Weird_Al
- Spalg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Chicken Pot Pie is not by him, pretty sure.
- nakatomiplaza, on 10/17/2007, -4/+0Other than money, you have to wonder what motivates a guy like Weird Al to make the kind of music that he does 25 years later.
- SaintStryfe, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1I'll agree, it's not as good as "Poodle Hat" or "Running with Scissors", but common. "Even Worse" was plain bad. At least there were some good original songs and style parodies on this one.
- jiggawoot, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Weird Al is not a great musician. He's not even a good musician. He's a comedian, and a poor one at that.
Any moron with a dictionary and half a brain can take a song and change the words into something vaguely amusing. I can't believe he actually convinced some idiot record exec to sign him.
Weird Al's "songs" are low brow, stupid humour that I would expect to hear in the playground of a primary school. The fact that he has so many fans disturbs me. - gk128, on 10/12/2007, -17/+4It may be a top seller, but it's down there with "Even Worse" in terms of quality.
