- moraldebate, on 01/29/2009, -6/+49Can we get a graph of kids who pretended to like some of this music vs. the kids who actually liked it?
- jetcombo15, on 01/29/2009, -0/+18Because the website is currently down, here is a picture of some bacon to entertain you in the meanwhile.

- noderunner, on 01/29/2009, -0/+11best tracks != best selling
- Topsiders, on 01/30/2009, -0/+9I'd like to review albums for Pitchfork, but I have a bad habit of getting to the ***** point in the first paragraph.
- Bananaboy8000, on 01/29/2009, -0/+9i left the picture of bacon on my screen.....my girlfriend saw it....we had a talk about it.
- SissySlapParty, on 01/30/2009, -0/+8Agreed. That graph is stale and derivative when compared to previous graph efforts. - 5.4.
- SevenTwo, on 01/29/2009, -0/+8Graph Rating: 5.4
- DestroyPoseurs, on 01/30/2009, -0/+7I think the Pitchfork writers lack the ability to give an unbiased review to any band that has already received an ounce of popularity, but I like reading their year end lists as a source of bands I have never heard of before. I would never consider anything on these lists to be close to an actual best of, but I have discovered quite a few bands I would have never heard of otherwise through their year end lists. You just have to go into reading them with the right mindset.
- NathanielJ, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6Methinks you didn't understand what that was a pie chart of.
- belyle, on 01/29/2009, -9/+15Maybe I'm missing something here. I can't understand why this is interesting, relevant, or even worthy of anyone's time.
- ALink2ThePast, on 01/30/2009, -0/+5Your favorite band sucks
- jasonllester, on 01/29/2009, -1/+6I have that on a shirt :)
- laserpilot, on 01/29/2009, -3/+8Bitchfork
- dontdoitjake, on 01/30/2009, -1/+5why is everyone who says pitchfork sucks getting dugg down? all they do is give high marks to trendy and hipster music and anything that isnt trendy enough for them gets bad reviews. pitchfork has no journalistic integrity.
- illt, on 01/30/2009, -3/+7Where's the metal genre? oh...right it's pitchfork's 100 best tracks.
- crispa1970, on 01/29/2009, -0/+4mmmmmmm.....bacon
- crossmr, on 01/30/2009, -0/+4you and me both, but apparently people would rather bury you then explain it..
- jetcombo15, on 01/29/2009, -0/+4Well, nevermind, it's not down anymore.
Anytime is the right time for bacon, though. - arizonabay, on 01/30/2009, -1/+5Here's the full list.

I've only heard 7 or 8 of the songs on there. I'm surprised it was that many. How does Kanye West's "Love Lockdown" get there? The review calls it "android voice", but really it's just prolific use of auto-tune to disguise the fact that he is incapable of singing. - Browzer, on 01/31/2009, -0/+3Pitchfork is a very influential music site. Several bands got their first big breaks via a positive Pitchfork review (Arcade Fire, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah). If they highlight a band that is playing in your area, that show WILL sell out.
They can be snobbish, and sometimes they seem to give out high scores just to make a point. However, if you read them consistently, you will be introduced to lots of new music. I do value their opinion, but if I listen to an album that got a 9.5 from them and determine it's crap, well, it's still crap to me. - lansuggs, on 01/30/2009, -0/+3That's totally underground man.
I listen to bands that even the bands themselves never heard of. - boudey, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2The Rip is the greatest song of 2008.
- Browzer, on 01/31/2009, -1/+3I agree. The true value of Pitchfork is that it will introduce you to new things. You can't take the review scores too seriously (although the really bitchy ones are fun to read).
- tiberone, on 01/31/2009, -0/+2This is one of their more efficient reviews:

- SissySlapParty, on 01/30/2009, -1/+3lol rage
- Qinella, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1I'm guessing the song that was 17 minutes long is Joanna Newsom's "Only Skin." God she's so brilliant.
- JasonAdams13, on 01/30/2009, -3/+4Finally, a union of two of my favourite things: music, and inferential statistics.
- inactive, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1I guess that's what's so maddening - I want some of the bands I listen to to be reviewed, and instead it always seems to be either some completely obscure band (even if talented) or some band (like Coldplay) that was reviewed by hundreds of other critics.
- gnarnia, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1I wear shirts that dont exist yet
- lamejoketeller, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1care to elaborate on your proof?
- Abstractpie, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1Indie Rock as the majority.
Wat? - jfg84, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1Pitchfork did a little too much clubbing this year.
- mhmandthen, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1Huh? The top track of 2007 according to them was LCD Soundsystem's All My Friends.
- inactive, on 01/30/2009, -2/+3I love that Pitchfork pretends that any band (except Radiohead, and some indie rock Gods, and for some inexplicable reason, gangsta rap) that achieves any kind of financial success doesn't exist.
- pathy, on 01/30/2009, -1/+1Oh you're so indie.
- jchrome, on 01/30/2009, -1/+1Hmmm, you really haven't a clue now do you?
- inactive, on 01/30/2009, -3/+3It's not longer "Indie" if it's the ***** majority.
Call it what it ***** is, over produced consumerist trash from major record labels finding a group of stupid ***** and paying them vast sums of money to record tripe. - gunslingr, on 01/30/2009, -0/+0Agreed!
- bobokeen, on 01/30/2009, -0/+0That came out in 2006, actually.
Still awesome, though. -
