sorry, i had to do it - xyphur, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I'm confused. Let me get this straight... A live, televised performance featuring a band with actual TALENT? Holy *****, nobody touch me, I don't wanna wake up!
[/sarcasm]
I'm SO hoping they come to Toronto. I'm so there if they do. - shack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10"The were out of sync, old farts playing a worn-out old tune"
Sting and Stewart look in pretty damn good shape for old farts... and that Zenyatta Mondatta-ish jam in the middle was far from worn out.
Excellent, I hope this is an accurate preview of their tour. - Handyyz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I am SO FRIGGIN' PUMPED for this tour!!! Thank you for posting this.
- SeppukuBLUE, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11@ deepdiggdude
Go listen to Fall Out Boy, loser. - manifestdata, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8@deepdiggdude
Artists and fans alike used to listen to criticism like yours ..."when it was new and original." Like you said, Don Henley already said it, so you can shut the ***** up. It seems you may have never enjoyed them in the first place and felt the need to release your preteen angst now for some reason. Thanks for trolling though, wouldn't be digg without you. - rebelxtnut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6freaking awosome
- artofwar420, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Just enjoy the music.
- Stewage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Among a sea of absolute garbage music such as gangsta rap, emo bands, formulaic lip synced top 40 and Creed, returns The Police, masters of melody and their instruments. I welcome them with open arms for they are music to my ears.
- MrMidi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7@deepdiggdude
I guess you can keep rocking out to the same cookie cutter top 40 crap. It’s "new and original" right? Or is that YOUR talented band?
Regardless... The Police were an inspiration to several of today’s musicians. People should take advantage of a live performance such as this. - howdareyou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hopefully Sting will be so busy with touring that he will shut up about banging his wife for 10 hours straight via tantric sex.
- artofwar420, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This is so sweet, it's unreal.
- bat-21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The Police aren't new, but they are original.
Ionbattle, I whatever it is you're smoking, I want some. I have never seen a digger say he likes The Eagles. - sparks2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Quick question
At the end of the video when he's going "rooooooooxaaaaaaaaaaaaanne" to end the song, he finishes "roxanne" and says something that isn't echoed in the mic... what's up with that????? If i had only seen that part i would have screamed "lipsync" but the rest of the song seemed legit... - IllBeBack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well, if you watched the rest of the show, you would have snapped right awake because it all went downhill from there.
- bat-21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sparks2, it appears one of the tech guys jumped the gun and shut Sting's mike off before the song was finished.
- pillfred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not outright disagree but i feel there comes a point in most bands careers where they earn the right to do whatever they want, usually when they first start out and nobody gives a ***** about them. What would bum me out is if they decide to charge excessive amounts of money for tickets. I recall Streisand doing one her past farewell tours a few years back where the cheapest nose bleed seats were 300+.
- Sharkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wish Kevin from The Office's band would have done it instead: Scrantonicity.
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I, for one, welcome our new rock overlords...
As a big Police head from way back, it's nice to see this. But what is with Sting? Somebody needs to tell him that David Lynch isn't going to make any more Dune movies... - yer0c, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, amazing! What's really impressive is that, while it's the classic Police combo, it has Sting's developed voice, which gives the classic sound a whole new flavor. Here's hoping they come to the Bay Area!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1if you know the band from back when, you will need a pump to get fricking
- UglieJosh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Seriously, come on. The Police now sound like a mediocre Police cover band...
- sparks2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Why did I get buried... i'm simply asking a question...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Another band reunites to trade artistic integrity in for spectacle.
- IllBeBack, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Hey, it's Sting. ... And some other dudes.
- ionbattle, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2I think you mean ***** the pigs... :P
- ionbattle, on 10/12/2007, -15/+2I love how deepdiggdude's well thought out, logical opinion gets dugg down, and other peoples "OMFG STFU EAGLES R AWESOME" remarks are dugg up....
- deepdiggdude, on 10/12/2007, -21/+5artofwar: I did... when it was new and original.
- deepdiggdude, on 10/12/2007, -34/+9You'd think that John and George were resurrected for a reunion from the hysteria over The Police. I'm sorry folks, but that was boring. The were out of sync, old farts playing a worn-out old tune. To quote Don Henley (who also reanimated with Eagles, ironically) "I saw a Dead Head sticker on a Cadillac, a little voice inside my head said don't look back, you can never look back."
This is more evidence of the decline of pop music. The fact that The Police reined over a ceremony as bland as porridge is testament to the lack of original ideas in music.
But don't feel bad, the same thing happened to big band music fifty years ago.
Boy am I glad some of my favorite rock stars are dead. Memories may fade, but people just grow old.
