- discobiscuit100, on 03/20/2009, -0/+14That first Stone Roses album is brilliant, one of those era-defining moments
Which is why they should never reform - Madchester/Baggy or whatever you want to label it has gone. Please don't spoil the memories by reforming!! - AgeofMastery, on 03/20/2009, -0/+14That sucks, I loved their first album and didn't think "Second Coming" was as bad as the critics said.
- Jektal, on 03/20/2009, -0/+12Holy crap. A Stone Roses story on the front page of Digg?! Something must be amiss...
- inactive, on 03/20/2009, -2/+13probably a good idea
- inactive, on 03/20/2009, -0/+10He's a beast on guitar. That's too bad
- inactive, on 03/20/2009, -0/+10I miss them. But don't bring them back. Ian Brown is middle of the road now, and the vibe and climate isn't right. Let's jsut leave the nostalgia intact.
Mersey Paradise, She Bangs the Drums, Bye Bye Badman FTW - Shakermaker, on 03/20/2009, -0/+8It did have a more "jam" feel o it, but songs like Ten Story Love Song and Love Spreads were amazing...
- inactive, on 03/20/2009, -1/+8You wouldn't know. It's not for you.
- lofi4life, on 03/20/2009, -0/+7Its a shame that we won't get to see them, but its probably for the best.
- Sub7, on 03/20/2009, -1/+8One of the best guitarists of recent times.
I sat near near him at the Zeppelin gig at the O2 in 2007. Afterward he said he it was a great gig but he was glad they're not doing anymore as they're old and should let Zeppelin be remembered for what they were and not for being a bunch of old rockers.
Guess he thinks the same thing about the Roses.
Having seen Ian Brown a few years back at Glastonbury do an appalling solo set I'm inclined to agree. - AgeofMastery, on 03/20/2009, -0/+7You are ignorant
- Jektal, on 03/20/2009, -0/+6Hey, I'm from the US, and a Stone Roses album cover is my profile image!
- gangnath, on 03/20/2009, -1/+7does he not know Ian Brown is both the resurrection and the light? how do you say no to that?
- AgeofMastery, on 03/20/2009, -0/+5I'm from the US too. I heard them on an alternative station, (back when that actually meant something and wasn't a marketing tag), and became a huge fan.
- inactive, on 03/20/2009, -0/+5You ooze fail from every pore.
- discobiscuit100, on 03/20/2009, -1/+5Have a look on Spotify/Last.fm/Pandora etc and find out
Great band - ossmanns, on 03/20/2009, -2/+6Too bad. My shares in Kangol could have used the boost...they haven't been doing too well since I bought 'em in '90. =)
- Abomonog, on 03/20/2009, -2/+6Good band but understandable. It was a "flash in the pan" thing and in the U.S. they never even made one hit wonder status. They only tune I've heard played on the radio here (She's my Sister) never cracked the top 20 if I am correct. Pity. Sometimes us Americans can't tell a good band from a bad one. Their debut rocked but barely got airplay here.
- lofi4life, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3You are ignorant
- Psybient, on 03/20/2009, -2/+5Burying due to ignorance and just admitting it like that. How sad.
- Jektal, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3He's just trying to bring himself to hate Ian as he'd like.
- Shakermaker, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3...If only for what the last batch of "reunions" have brought us. While a great live band, The Verve's last album Forth, sucked arse..
I'm holding out hope for Blur. - LoveWidescreen, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3Actually, "She Bangs the Drums" is one of the optional songs that you can "buy" with your tour money in "Guitar Hero III". It's one of my favorite of the"buyable" songs. But you're right. There are a ton of bands in Europe that deserve recognition in the US. I've mostly worn off of the US "Top 40" and starting to more European groups because they're just better.
- inactive, on 03/20/2009, -1/+4ha, you make me feel better about myself. thanks pal!
- smacksaw, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2Maybe if they renounce everything since getting rid of Stephen Street as their producer I'd be on board with that.
- inactive, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2good call. leave things that were glorious to remain glorious.
- crashbang, on 03/20/2009, -0/+2I think I'd rather just listen to thier first record and dance around my house like Bez from the Happy Mondays
- morningmatters, on 03/20/2009, -0/+1I am not sure about other countries but payola is rampant here in the US, you gotta pay $$$ to get DJs to play the songs on the major radio stations. The smaller independent radio stations are a lot better but their radio signals tend to be weak.
I have only heard of this band because the song "love spreads" (she is my sister?) was featured on GHWT. - piper999, on 03/20/2009, -1/+1He wants to 'live his life?' Sorry but since when has John Squire even had a life?
- smacksaw, on 03/21/2009, -1/+1Overrated band and album. Honestly, that whole "Madchester" scene was not as good as people made it out to be. It was alright, but you could feel people trying to recreate The Beatles with every band.
Manchester? Morrissey and The Smiths, a good 10+ years before. Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to Freebass. Amazing how I tied that all together. - inactive, on 03/20/2009, -2/+1I never heard of these schmucks either, and i listen to all types of ***** that barely anyone else does. I assumed by the name it's McJager , Richards, Axel, and Slash team up for a hybrid barbershop cortet/swing band. I could be wrong tho :P
- reefrmad, on 03/20/2009, -1/+0Two songs an album doesn't make. Especially after 5 years.
And both those songs were average. One Love was much better, kinda like I Am The Ressurection.. of course, that wasn't on the album... - discobiscuit100, on 03/20/2009, -4/+1Or possibly he's from outside the UK
There's a reason why all the Diggs for this story are coming during UK time while the US/Aussies are in bed - inactive, on 03/20/2009, -3/+0blur were ok really, not worth a reunion. though if they came back and actually murdered oasis (really murdered not metaphorically) then i would be a fan ;)
- inactive, on 03/20/2009, -6/+3nah, mediocre MOR ***** always makes the front page...NIN, the Whiny Pumpkins, Jane's Addiction...i swear this place has some of the crappiest taste in music. yes, i'll be dugg down, which to me only confirms my point. hey, how long before someone tells us all about how Bjork is so ***** awesome? Or Green Day? go suck Tupac's dick.
meh. - reefrmad, on 03/20/2009, -5/+0Meh. It was like Fools Gold made into an album.
- inactive, on 03/20/2009, -9/+3seminal my ass, nothing but imitators
- raza7370, on 03/20/2009, -7/+0wow !! nice pic
- inactive, on 03/20/2009, -10/+2who the hell is squire and what the f is stone roses? call me ignorant.
- GeekNurse, on 03/20/2009, -11/+2What, the Rolling Stones aren't going to tour anymo... wait, Who the ***** are the Stone Roses?
- L0NER, on 03/20/2009, -12/+1I wanna be a-borred
- animus, on 03/20/2009, -23/+3who?
buried - syntaxgs, on 03/20/2009, -22/+1sorry but I,m not really a fan of anything ut MetallicA \,,\/ ,,\..\ ROCK
