- methodshop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The model of DRM they plan on using is Windows Media based and means that any free tracks that you download cannot be burned on to a CD and won't work with Apple computers or iPod music players. Personally, that's a major deal breaker for me.
Will this service actually pose a threat to Apple's iTunes Music Store? Since iPod owners can't use these free downloads, it's doubtful. But you can't blame the entertainment industry for scrambling to find new ways to make money as the Internet rewrites the rules of distribution and marketing. - myfish8me, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0even if its a proprietary format and i can’t take it off my desktop, hey, its still a winner! most of the time i just have this strong urge to listen to something NOW, while i’m using the internet or whatever on my desktop.
as long as its the full catalog (and not just a few selected artists and tracks) and its the full songs, and its not crappy sound quality, hey why not? just for desktop home listenting.
