- ArthurSucks, on 01/11/2008, -3/+252Did we finally ***** the RIAA?!
- maz2331, on 01/11/2008, -1/+127It sounds to me like EMI is sensing an opportunity to gain market share by disassociating themselves from the litigious groups who are causing a greater loss of sales than the piracy they are fighting.
Cartels sometimes collapse when one major participant leaves for their own gain. - inactive, on 01/11/2008, -1/+87That would be music to my ears that I would pay for.
- ljpj707, on 01/11/2008, -0/+53If the RIAA tapes their concession and it's offerd on Amazon, I'd pay for that download..
- FishHammer, on 01/11/2008, -2/+54I'll believe it when I see it.
- inactive, on 01/11/2008, -2/+52Well it's was really only a matter of time, I mean seriously.
- thorbergdt, on 01/11/2008, -2/+44Plain and simple, we buy it.. we own it... we can do whatever the hell we want with it!... one more time ***** the RIAA!
- florin, on 01/11/2008, -1/+42They're in my prayers... to see them actually keel over and die.
- cblalock, on 01/11/2008, -1/+40Nah, just some heavy petting and on top of the clothes stuff. Get a couple of wine coolers in them though, and we're totally in.
- TheZorch, on 01/11/2008, -0/+29I say good riddance to the RIAA, they've been causing so much damage to the recording industry it isn't funny they deserve to vanish.
- Korexz, on 01/11/2008, -0/+26They were getting awfully desperate, suing middle class single mothers, claiming that ripping CDs to iTunes was a copyright infringement, oppressing the artists and the consumers.
This is WELL past due.
Now will those who were sued by the RIAA get their money back? After all, the money never went to the artists, it only bankrolled the RIAA so they could continue to prosecute the innocent. - catalysis, on 01/11/2008, -1/+21I don't think it has as much to do with the litigation as it does with the recording business slowly dying out. All the labels are going to have to start downsizing and cutting costs soon. Next up come the artists that don't sell well.
- nmcglennon, on 01/11/2008, -2/+22May I be first to say "***** you, RIAA. We hardly knew you. Or wanted to."
- betobeto, on 01/11/2008, -0/+20EMI seems to be finally realizing it's not good for PR to be somehow associated with an entity that has turned and judged all the consumers of its product as criminals. About time. One can only hope the rest of the "big 5" players follow suit, if not by sympathy at least by the snowball effect.
- ryodoan, on 01/11/2008, -2/+20I prefer the term, "Surprise Sex"
- ingoldsby, on 01/11/2008, -0/+17I think they took care of that all on their own.
- edwartica, on 01/11/2008, -0/+15Technically, rapists can't be virgins.
- 8347, on 01/11/2008, -1/+15We should make a top 10 list of the biggest criminals in the RIAA and hunt them for the rest of their lives!
- evilregis, on 01/11/2008, -1/+14Buried for "dunzo".
- offspring06, on 01/11/2008, -0/+13If the label is smart enough they will realize that suing their customers is not such a good idea.
- bigp3rm, on 01/11/2008, -0/+13Die bitch.
- roguedragon, on 01/11/2008, -0/+12Heard about this months ago. I'm just waiting for this to finally happen. That's great and all that they're talking about it, but so long as it remains talk, the RIAA continues to stalk more helpless victims.
- skellener, on 01/11/2008, -0/+11Amen!
- triskele, on 01/11/2008, -0/+11Now let's just hope others follow their lead.
- Ksg89, on 01/11/2008, -1/+11,,|,, :D
- Abominous, on 01/11/2008, -1/+11If the RIAA is gone I'll start buying music again.
- Renton, on 01/11/2008, -1/+11Even though the RIAA is dying, the MPAA is only gaining power.
- PaulPinfield, on 01/11/2008, -0/+9PLEASE!!!!!! Tell me this is true...
- Chromatik, on 01/11/2008, -1/+10Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out mother bitches.
- edwartica, on 01/11/2008, -0/+9No, vanish would indicate a quick disappearance. The RIAA deserves a slow, painful death.
- inactive, on 01/11/2008, -1/+10One AA at a time.
- offspring06, on 01/11/2008, -1/+9Is this a dream? ***** the RIAA.
- Sraza, on 01/11/2008, -0/+8'The IFPI admits that its internal review is prompted in large part "by falling industry revenues resulting from the decline in global music sales." '
Your tears, they taste like candy. - aznhomig, on 01/11/2008, -0/+8Put that gestapo organization to sleep and never look back.
- redmaxx, on 01/11/2008, -0/+8Not to dampen the news, but this doesn't mean that lawsuits will stop. They just might come directly from the label, instead of the RIAA.
- PistolSO, on 01/11/2008, -2/+9Good for EMI. The RIAA sucks donkey balls, and is increasingly going the way of the Buggy Whip. Also still thankful for EMI for releasing DRM-free music on iTunes. C'mon, Universal, Warner and Sony, make your wares DRM-free on iTunes too!
- AshWii, on 01/11/2008, -0/+7Oh, happy day
- bagelmaster, on 01/12/2008, -1/+8god please let all the new ***** rap die. PLEASE
- antigenesis, on 01/12/2008, -0/+7Of course we can! No internets for you!
- howitzeral, on 01/11/2008, -0/+6They were the first big label to drop DRM and now others have followed suit. Just because they're the smallest doesn't mean they can't be at the front of a wave.
- cranium, on 01/11/2008, -0/+6Yeah because direct boycotts are so good for business.
- Zippo, on 01/11/2008, -1/+7Here's hoping. They're nothing but a bunch of greedy *****.
Lawsuits are not a business model. - Tokyosexwhale, on 01/11/2008, -0/+5Even if it happens, it's probably not going to have the effect we all desire. As the article says, the RIAA "might disappear even as its work continues". It makes no difference what the organization is called if they're still going to be giant douchebags.
- SilverBlade2k, on 01/11/2008, -0/+5good riddance to ***** rubbish.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 01/12/2008, -0/+4How long can you seriously expect to sue customers and expect people to stay loyal?
- Humpasaur, on 01/11/2008, -0/+4AMEN. They are all dinosaurs, EMI is next. Here's some non-***** perspective on the "new" music industry:
http://www.audiblehype.com/diy/entry/music_busines ... - happyhappyhappy, on 01/11/2008, -0/+4If I was one of the people who has already been sued, and paid a settlement, I would be pretty pissed off.
- redmaxx, on 01/11/2008, -0/+4We can only hope that is the case.
- MrNexus, on 01/11/2008, -1/+4***** the RIAA!
- orangefly, on 01/11/2008, -1/+4self-inflicted fatal *****
