- DuxBelorum, on 10/29/2009, -1/+12Sorry I'm going to call *****. I think you wold watch if you were paid $10 mill.
- ButlerMonkey, on 10/29/2009, -0/+10So forget about U2 for a second and maybe appreciate the tech behind this - that fact that 10 million people watched a live stream of an event and it worked and was done so and fairly good quality. What this means to Google and their role in content delivery. What this means for people looking for alternative or additional content distribution methods. What this means to ISP who already bitch that Google is using up too much bandwidth. Anything beyond the fact that you do or don't like U2.
Sorry, I'm talking like a Digg user from 2006. - phatfiend, on 10/29/2009, -10/+20Haha. I love all these people crying because they don't like that U2 is popular. Get real kids.
This is the band that released The Joshua Tree. Sorry you weren't around to like them before they were huge but thats no reason to pretend like they have sucked the whole time. - AndrewMoyer, on 10/29/2009, -3/+10Makes you want to go outside and stare at the sun.
- malechite, on 10/29/2009, -1/+8ONE POINT TWENTY ONE GIGABYTES!!!
- lastthingusee, on 10/29/2009, -0/+6Annnnnnnd flop
- Spartakip, on 10/29/2009, -0/+6There is a special level of hell for people like you.
- InfiniteNothing, on 10/29/2009, -0/+6It's over 9000k streams!!!
- inactive, on 10/29/2009, -0/+5*****.
I would watch it if I were paid $5-10 (as in, cost of a six pack) and I hate U2. - deesguys, on 10/29/2009, -5/+10Yet Bono is still somehow #2
- nlight, on 10/29/2009, -0/+5Akamai (akamai.com) did the content delivery, not Google.
- Philbert, on 10/29/2009, -1/+5I'd be proud to be in the same category as The Police.
- rheaume, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3It was smooth and good quality, i was impressed too
- Zedian, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3Apple sucks!
Interchange that to circa Digg 2009. - inactive, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3That bad, huh?
- ButlerMonkey, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3True, but it's the Google/You Tube brand that is associated with this, at least to the knowledge of most people. Not trying to take away anything from the people at Akamai - they do deserve credit for making this work and pulling it off. Any way, my point was for people to focus beyond their opinions of the band and look at what this story means in a general sense relating to tech and content delivery.
- Coffeedemon, on 10/29/2009, -1/+3Another kid showing their age. U2 are huge. I don't care for it all but I won't try to deny their popularity.
- Coffeedemon, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2You're giving metal fans a bad name. U2 had a few great albums. Achtung Baby and Joshua tree for example. I'll bet you like ***** like Job for a Cowboy...
- djaudible, on 10/29/2009, -2/+4Because I don't like them and what I like is what all humans should like. Resistance is futile.
- AutomaticTLC, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2Well, no. You see, that wouldn't work because of several reasons, but mainly It's because it's ***** the RIAA.
- markgl, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1I'm not number 2.
- 1kewldude, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1http://www.genitorturers.com/home.html - Gen could kick Bono's ass any day
- rheaume, on 10/29/2009, -1/+2145 million records, all sold to teeny boppers/emo kids?
- Zedian, on 10/29/2009, -1/+2It's painful but the show I went to at the brand new Cowboys stadium where they played with Muse, tons of emo kids were signing along to With or Without You and New Years Day.
Lord knows how much agony I was going through that night........ - Spartakip, on 10/30/2009, -0/+1what are you on about?
- jocknerd, on 10/29/2009, -3/+4Why don't you believe it? They've been around since 1980. They are the biggest band in the world.
- telnet, on 10/29/2009, -4/+4be quiet
- camilos007, on 10/29/2009, -13/+13We should have a mandatory Digg comment template :
U2 Suck!
Microsoft Suck!
RIAA Suck!
Apple Rules!
Linux Rules
Nintendo Rules!
Just copy and paste. - rheaume, on 10/29/2009, -1/+1You had to be quick, he lubbed one up and inserted it at one point
- sh0rtstop00, on 10/29/2009, -1/+1I'd like to go there, do u have direction or should I mapquest it?
on a more serious note, brucespring teen street band (or whatever the ***** it is called) and U2 combined age of all their ***** is like 5 century old. who the fck listen to old ppl sing? i can understand Beatle bc their songs are actually good. i cant name one fcking song out of the other two bands. - inactive, on 10/29/2009, -3/+3" Double that, and then double it again."
So we're randomly doubling numbers and coming up with stats?
Brilliant. - djaudible, on 10/29/2009, -15/+14I still have a hard time believing that there are really that many people that like U2. They must have had banners that said, "click here for NSFW pics" or something to get that many.
- spudscaduto392, on 10/29/2009, -7/+6YEAHYEAHYEAHYEAHYEAHYEAHYEAHYEAH
- RegalBegal, on 10/29/2009, -16/+15Proof that popularity != quality
- jwitz, on 10/29/2009, -4/+3That's awesome. Did U watch it 2?
- smack1700, on 10/29/2009, -5/+4Well that certainly doesn't make Bono # 2...
- Hammertym3, on 10/29/2009, -3/+2At least we didn't have to pay money to see that concert.
- rheaume, on 10/29/2009, -4/+3U2 was only good in the late 80's when i wasnt born yet
/moron - Bardestani, on 10/29/2009, -3/+1u think?
- meed, on 10/29/2009, -4/+2People still give a rats ass about U2?
- omgwtflawl, on 10/29/2009, -5/+3Your statement is 4 words too long.
- AutomaticTLC, on 10/29/2009, -5/+3I have a hard time believing that.
- djaudible, on 10/29/2009, -3/+1I didn't know there were that many emo kids!
- DirtyVicar, on 10/29/2009, -10/+710 million streams? How'd they manage to get a golden shower that big?
- xXSheepyXx, on 10/29/2009, -10/+7***** BONO
- seltaeb4, on 10/29/2009, -6/+2What was all this great stuff with Blackberry they were supposed to be doing?
- itatianami, on 10/29/2009, -12/+6U2 hasn't made good music since the early 90s.
- 1kewldude, on 10/29/2009, -10/+4U2 made good music ever...? They are in the same category as The Cars or The Police for me - wussy non-death metal - oh, and usually their concerts have seats to like actually sit in
