- b9gh47q, on 03/18/2009, -8/+110Trent Reznor never ceases to amaze me.
- HalfDemon1122, on 03/18/2009, -3/+90if you dont love trent reznor, something is wrong with you
you can even not like nine inch nails, but what that man has done for music is amazing - Stiles05s, on 03/18/2009, -7/+52Dugg for Trent once again being awesome.
- aesop, on 03/18/2009, -1/+40actual link http://forum.nin.com/bb/read.php?9,548515
- oldhick, on 03/18/2009, -1/+37And he spoke out recently against Chris Cornell's uber ***** new album!
- bossm4n, on 03/18/2009, -0/+35I'm personally not a fan of their music, but their policy of selling great seats directly to fans is brilliant and I applaud them for that.
- Cojafoji, on 03/18/2009, -1/+29It may not be about money for Reznor, but for 90% of those ***** pop bands out there, it is. *Cough*Jonas Brothers*Cough*
- PoleCatz, on 03/18/2009, -1/+23I've run hot and cold with the music of NIN over the years, but Trent Reznor remains an extremely high-integrity guy. One of very few left in this culture. You really do have to include him with the likes of Fugazi, Rage Against the Machine, Michael Franti and a handful of others. And that makes him an artist worth supporting.
- pardonmedoug, on 03/18/2009, -2/+23Just because he's made a lot of money doesn't mean that money was ever his end goal, especially if he routinely (like here) passes up opportunities to milk his fans. He also spends his own money to offer what he regards as a quality experience, when he could more cheaply rely on labels who wouldn't do half as much to ensure the art is presented as it's meant to be.
- fallout49, on 03/18/2009, -2/+22TV on the Radio also has pre-pass sales which I think helps the true fans get to the shows they want to see.
- aufte, on 03/18/2009, -4/+23A few years ago I stood in line, was in the first ten allowed into the store, and they sold out after two people bought tickets. So, thanks Trent.
- inactive, on 03/18/2009, -0/+19Well the point is, he's made a decent living for himself already - he doesn't need to be greedy when it comes to every dollar that may be available to him like many do.
- Br0wn, on 03/18/2009, -1/+19nope just simple typo,
so how's life? - bossm4n, on 03/18/2009, -0/+18And now you have the additional ***** of Ticketmaster holding back tickets only to auction them off at a later date, thus creating a virtual monopoly by become the broker and the aftermarket reseller. And this problem will only get worse if they buy Live Nation as planned.
- xtc46, on 03/18/2009, -0/+17I think the point is trent is doing something to prevent this, not that he was responsible for the problem it self.
- Jade10145, on 03/18/2009, -2/+18(Mickey voice)
You think God is in control? I am in control, you see, I have been in control since the 50s in case you haven't noticed!
(Mickey , pointing to Jonas Brothers)
you three ***** are going on stage
(Mickey , pointing to the boys)
and you three ***** aren't going to stop me! I have worked too long and too hard for anybody to f*ck this up!! - inactive, on 03/18/2009, -0/+15I think Trent Reznor is awesome and I'm not even that big a fan of NIN.
- inactive, on 03/18/2009, -0/+15And to think, Smithers, you laughed when I bought Ticketmaster!
- pardonmedoug, on 03/18/2009, -0/+15Reasonable, informed viewpoint about issue that affects diggers + Digg = Front Page
- DrVic, on 03/18/2009, -2/+16Rock on Trent, you the man.
- jedinate, on 03/18/2009, -1/+14Reznor continues to be the one person, in the whole record business, that thinks these issues through logically and shares his thoughts, in a matter of fact manner. Think what you want of NIN musically (I love 'em), but as a music fan you have to love Trent Reznor.
- kevL0CK, on 03/18/2009, -0/+13the internet loves Trent Reznor.
i do. - cloudberries, on 03/18/2009, -0/+13Ahh, yes. That would make sense
Digg makes me see sarcasm in everything I read. - serif69, on 03/18/2009, -2/+15How is this speaking out against ticket resellers? It's more of an explanation of how the NIN presale system works, and he's basically saying, "Do it our way and save some money, or pay a reseller an ass-load." He's also saying that he seriously contemplated giving a block of tickets to resellers so he could make more money, but decided against it. It sounds like he was responding to butthurt fans who were bitching about service charges on presale tickets.
- jeffwmartin, on 03/18/2009, -0/+12Pearl Jam has been doing this for years. They make sure fans have a fair shot at getting seats close to the stage without paying scalpers.
- inactive, on 03/18/2009, -9/+20You act as if he discovered the theory of relativity.
- Br0wn, on 03/18/2009, -1/+12that doesn't too good, you should get that checked out.
- urbanetruth, on 05/01/2009, -1/+11how about a story about Trent Reznor AND Linux AND weed? that would be REALLY digg-worthy.
- intuin, on 03/18/2009, -1/+10Unless you're trying to be sarcastic, you're an idiot. Read the ***** article.
- Rtibbitts07, on 03/18/2009, -0/+9Trent Reznor has led the way in the music industry on many other issues, and I can only hope he will lead the way on this issue too.
- sHockz, on 03/18/2009, -1/+10this is definitely a problem, especially here in austin. i am sick of having to craigslist tickets
- inactive, on 03/18/2009, -0/+9Excellent.
- inactive, on 03/18/2009, -0/+9Dugg for finally having an artist that doesn't use his clout to push some silly issue they don't know the first thing about.
- inactive, on 03/18/2009, -2/+11Well, he has made some considerable strides to better the current state of the music industry.
- Hed77, on 03/18/2009, -0/+8But what about Ben?!
- chuckerton, on 03/18/2009, -0/+8"God money, I'll do anything for you..."
- Elsewhere42, on 03/18/2009, -0/+8I recently bought tickets to an event. Ticketmaster forced me to buy the tickets from another site that had them marked up from $39 (the printed ticket price) to $120 (the price you have to pay to get the ticket).
Really pissed me off. - shredswithpiks, on 03/18/2009, -0/+8I would guess the person selling you the ticket for $100 gives you the right to buy it for $100... but what do I know?
- inactive, on 03/18/2009, -6/+14The guy lives in a mansion and you say it is not about money, don't kid yourself. I'm sure he does respect his true fans, but the guy isn't seeking a bohemian existence.
- bodycounter, on 03/18/2009, -0/+8Thank you for that. This article was poorly written and I didn't see the need for the extra comments by the author when all that really needed to be said was what Trent already said about it.
- podobuzz, on 03/19/2009, -0/+8Funny. The Fragile is my personal favorite of his albums. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.
- downwardspiral, on 03/18/2009, -0/+7NIN have committed to this cause since 2005. I paid around $35-$40 for a ticket and went to the venue couple of hours early and was in the very front row.
- dmbftp, on 03/18/2009, -0/+7Dude, you're 8 days late!
Hope your wife doesn't mind the delay! - copypastry, on 03/19/2009, -0/+6Trent Reznor blogs from his own linux distro entitled NINux - first post is about marijuana reform.
- Jektal, on 03/18/2009, -0/+5Amen. I'm not a NIN fanboy but I really like some of his music. Just bought 2 tickets online from NIN for a concert (Burgettstown, PA!), it's the least I can do to support the guy after getting the last couple albums dirt-cheap online.
- timfitz99, on 03/18/2009, -0/+5It's cool that he's speaking out about it... but there IS a better way. On last summer's Tom Waits tour, ALL tickets were electronic will-call. People with scanners confirmed your credit card was used to buy tickets.
Therefore, the person who bought the tickets was required to be there to get in the show. Yes, you could buy for friends, but they had to go in with you.
A bit if a hassle? Yes. Scalpers? Impossible. - rsbryswrrl, on 03/18/2009, -2/+7Tori Amos did this in 2007: http://undented.com/news/888/vip-ticket-faq
A little late on the uptake there, Trent. - allmessedup, on 03/18/2009, -2/+7Can someone who knows the legality of this please explain how Ticketmaster is not being monopolistic here? How have they not been successfully sued yet?
- SolitaireRose, on 03/18/2009, -0/+5However, the scalping being talked about is Ticketmaster pulling the good tickets before the show is available and then selling them through Ticketexchange.com at scalper's prices...never having made them available to the general public.
It's why I only go to small concerts in clubs now. I don't WANT to pay an extra 25% above the ticket price and only have the 2nd and 3rd tier seats available the second tickets go on sale. - oldhick, on 03/18/2009, -0/+5If the artist wants to sell tickets at a set price, what right do you have to prevent them from doing so?
