- greco530, on 02/18/2009, -0/+63Damn, that band Various Artists must be rolling in the dough. They're on there 4 times!
- TommyDons, on 02/18/2009, -8/+67Rihanna = # 10
Chris Brown = # 46
Finally the real reason he beat the sh*t out of her....
Too Soon? - xobecide, on 02/18/2009, -1/+34just for comparison:
http://rateyourmusic.com/list/oldno1/top_50_albums ... - antoni, on 02/18/2009, -5/+38The list is just so sad.
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -0/+27You've slept with each and every one of them?
- qwertyxuiop, on 02/18/2009, -0/+25popular =/= good
- rjhomuth, on 02/18/2009, -2/+22Lil Wayne was topped by High School Musical.
This made me chuckle. - Ftown13, on 02/18/2009, -4/+24Who the hell is Duffy?
- xR0e, on 02/18/2009, -27/+46Screw Coldplay.
- XorpheusX, on 02/18/2009, -0/+18Chinese Democracy was 14th? What was all that talk about it bombing, then?
- Tom10803, on 02/18/2009, -4/+20Amy Winehouse doesn't deserve to be famous.
- deadasdisco, on 02/18/2009, -2/+16seriously almost night and day. there's like 3 good bands on the 2008 list and the 1978 list is ***** awesome.
- mutantchicken14, on 02/18/2009, -2/+16Wait, people still buy stuff from Nickelback?
Neither "Fleet Foxes" nor "Dear Science" even came close.... *sigh* - xOKxWhy, on 02/18/2009, -0/+13Man, you're so cool
- bluefirestarter, on 02/18/2009, -1/+14People PLEASE stop buying Nickleback!!!
- rjhomuth, on 02/18/2009, -6/+17I don't think anyone is getting your reference.
- KRY4no1, on 02/18/2009, -0/+11Abba only made it to 37th? I bought 10,000 copies for nothing....
- rjhomuth, on 02/18/2009, -1/+12I thought it was clever, not worth the buries.
- RepublicofJosh, on 02/18/2009, -0/+11I was expecting to see In Rainbows, too.
- DiamondMonster, on 02/18/2009, -0/+11You'd be extremely disappointed to find that the 70s had tons of awful popular music too. Every decade does, it's the good stuff that floats to the top later.
- Yoshiler, on 02/18/2009, -2/+13Wow... This is ***** depressing. When I'm older, my kids (If I'm not sterile) are gonna look back and see this music as my generation's. Why couldn't the 70s be my generation? Today's popular music is trash.
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -2/+12aaaaaahhhhhh, Kelly Clarkson!!
- RepublicofJosh, on 02/18/2009, -2/+11Seeing some of these makes me cry a little.
- avatarpalin, on 02/18/2009, -1/+10I loved the album...
- lollapaloooza, on 02/18/2009, -2/+11What the ***** happened?
- blaydcor, on 02/18/2009, -1/+9at least I don't wear baby blue track pants
- randyzaia, on 02/18/2009, -12/+20wah wah wah radiohead wah wah wah
i'm thome yorke and i'm quirky and disillusioned - inactive, on 02/18/2009, -2/+10no they were not the best. they were you favorites.
Other people may prefer something else. (hopefully not the mass marketed corporate crap in this list) - TriplePlay2425, on 02/18/2009, -0/+8I like AC/DC, and Black Ice was a good album. Glad to know that it was pretty successful for them.
- jason210, on 02/18/2009, -0/+8nickel back sold more then 1 record? to who?
- Rad1030, on 02/18/2009, -1/+8I'm guessing they didn't count the hundreds of thousands that got the album for free in october 2007.
- Dejital, on 02/18/2009, -2/+9I'm pretty sure that's just a guy's list of his favorite 50 albums from the year 1978.
This would be a more interesting comparison; the top rated albums of 2008:
http://rateyourmusic.com/feature/2008?p=0&show ... - MakanGuru, on 02/18/2009, -2/+9Missing are NIN and Radiohead cause those guys had the balls to say screw you to the RIAA
- bdbr, on 02/18/2009, -1/+8Those wouldn't be my picks, but you're right - the best music doesn't make it on the radio, so only real music fans know of it.
- bdbr, on 02/18/2009, -0/+7Amy Winehouse without the drugs.
- Tom10803, on 02/18/2009, -0/+6Do you know how many girls there are?
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -8/+14This list is pathetic. Years from now we'll look back at these times with disgust. Where the ***** are our rock stars?
- RepublicofJosh, on 02/18/2009, -5/+11Thom Yorke** is a genius. And probably the most talented song writer alive today.
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -0/+6I love Radiohead, but this is so true.
- bawitback, on 02/18/2009, -0/+6Glad I did not contribute to this list - at all.
yes, not even coldplay. - replikhant, on 02/18/2009, -0/+6I don´t agree on that one. I am so glad I was not there for the disco days.
- coldkill3r, on 02/18/2009, -0/+6Second comment.
- redgopher, on 02/18/2009, -1/+6In Rainbows came out in 2007. But it's on the top of MY all time top five list.
Regardless, NIN and Radiohead aren't on this list because mainstream music caters to a demographic that is getting lazier, shallower and values music less every day. The mainstream music "industry" has become nothing but a diseased cash cow producing the foul milk that is forced down the pacified throat of the average human. - mycoplasma, on 02/18/2009, -0/+5FTA: "50. Various Artists: Now That's What I Call Music Vol. 71"
It's at 71 now? - randyzaia, on 02/18/2009, -1/+6BLEEP BLOOP SCREEEECH AHHHHHH BLEEP BLOOP /in unorthodox time signature
genius - coldkill3r, on 02/18/2009, -1/+6But is it worth a digg?
- Suzuka09, on 02/18/2009, -3/+8Nickleback, Coldplay, and Twilight! now I've lost faith in humanity
- schavira, on 02/18/2009, -3/+8When a Michael Jackson reissue is the best album on a top selling list for 2008 you know something is wrong with mainstream music.
I will admit Duffy, Kings of Leon and Amy Winehouse are decent though. Everything else however... - MidnightRIder77, on 02/18/2009, -0/+5Mtv started telling people what to like.
Disney started cloning.
And people started obsessing over how their artists look. -
