- scottus0, on 09/26/2008, -0/+56Most artistic is an absolutely meaningless phrase.
- ncapone, on 09/26/2008, -3/+31Dugg for Pink Floyd
- Jonjonjonny, on 09/25/2008, -0/+25Ok cool. No descriptions? Back story? Artist names?
- monkyboyrr, on 09/26/2008, -0/+22lol so opinionated. I don't disagree that these are truly artistic, but really? This list could be about 50 album covers long with yes, some more background. It's just not an objective subject, so unfortunately no one will be happy, regardless.

- ricksite, on 09/26/2008, -0/+11I think Jonjonjonny is referring to the artist of the artwork, not the album.

Fail - edumacator19, on 09/26/2008, -1/+10I don't think it counts when that art isn't specifically made for the album.

In fact, I'd say that Coldplay just slathering paint on top of an existing painting is about as inartistic as one can get. - Fabbyfubz, on 09/26/2008, -1/+10Sargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band has to be on it
- kazz67, on 09/25/2008, -0/+7You remembered Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy! Dugg.
- MarrowMan, on 09/26/2008, -1/+8Lateralus
- noPCtoday, on 09/26/2008, -1/+8Not sure what's on the list, but I'll definitely put my votes on Tool albums covers and Mer de Noms (by A perfect Circle) cover
- d0nkeym0nkey, on 09/26/2008, -4/+11FAIL
- jetboyterp, on 09/26/2008, -1/+8It has a certain a-peal...
- MidnightRIder77, on 09/26/2008, -0/+7I nominate Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek and the Dominoes.
- inactive, on 09/26/2008, -0/+6No Hot Rats, no digg.
- inactive, on 09/26/2008, -0/+5As much of a fan of Bowie I am, I can't say that diamond dogs is one of the most artistic album covers (maybe Aladdin Sane?)... Wish you were here was a WAY better album cover than division bell (which is kinda crap, to be honest).
In fact, I can say that about most of these- all but VU's for obvious reasons.
What about disraeli gears? What about yankee hotel foxtrot? Sigur Ros? Jesus of cool? Forever Changes? Closer? GY!BE? - jamesgoss, on 09/26/2008, -1/+6since when is using anothers artwork as their own (Delacroix painted 'liberty leading the people' in the 1800's) considered artistic?
- inactive, on 09/26/2008, -0/+5So the album features a poorly made Charles Allan Gilbert skull, something that's been done tons of times and is pretty well unoriginal by today's standards? I hope it didn't make the list.

You don't get points for basically copying a famous piece of art on your Album. Anyone can do that. - inactive, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4It's not going to go away, because there are too many folks out there with small talents, big egos, and short fuses.
- LegomanArt, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4Storm Thorgerson is a god.
- franklymister, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4THANK YOU.
I'm getting so tired of phrases like "that's so creative" or "that's so artistic."
It says nothing about skill, talent, meaning, relevance, importance, or any other measure of worth. It's the kind of meaningless "praise" that fourth grade teachers give to children. - zenerdiode, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4Seriously? If I had picked a Pink Floyd album cover, it surely would have been Dark Side of the Moon instead of Division Bell. Sure, everybody has seen it nowadays and but can you imagine what it was like when it was first released. So simple, so beautiful, and so perfectly matched with the album title.
- jcharak58, on 09/25/2008, -0/+4Weird names for Elton and Taupin
- chelsealeaf, on 09/26/2008, -5/+9Radiohead FTW! (however I prefer Kid A's album art, personally)
- pastasauce, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4The article description, "Ten unforgettable album covers," would have made an incredibly better and less controversial title.
"Top 10 Most..." just makes people want to bitch about what should and shouldn't have made the list. - inactive, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4No Sgt Pepper?
- HoratioHellpop, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4and/or Music for the Masses ...
Also, where are:
1. Any YES album before 90125
2. Any Led Zeppelin album
3. Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd
4. Aja, Steely Dan
5. Back in Black, AC/DC (simple but powerful as hell)
6. London Calling, The Clash
7. Beastie Boys (airplane), Beastie Boys
8. It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, Public Enemy
9. Nevermind, Nirvana
10. Unknown Pleasures, Joy Division - MatiBech, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4Hmm, I think I'm on Kid A too, did you know it's a picture of the alps inverted? But then again I really can't name a Radiohead album cover that isn't fantastic :D
- robertnealan, on 09/26/2008, -1/+4The Beatles - The White Album (US Version)
That thing is pure artistic talent. - Aneurhythmia, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3As far as covers go, I prefer Overnite Sensation.
- btschul, on 09/26/2008, -1/+4The album art for The Bends isn't bad, either.
- TaosSW, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3Wish You Were Here.
- pauls88, on 09/26/2008, -3/+6And heeeeere cooooome the suggestions
- DiscoUnderpants, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3What about Smell the Glove. I hear that was so black it could get any blacker really.
- lifeisahighway, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3Especially when you consider it following the incredibly busy cover of Sgt. Pepper's.
- blackbelt88, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3All I can see is the thumbnail since the site is down, but dugg for The Division Bell.
- SlapAyoda, on 09/26/2008, -0/+310 random well-known album covers with no commentary at all.
- CoreyTamas, on 09/26/2008, -1/+4Tell me how they measure "Most Artistic"? Is there a slide rule that measures amount of art? Do they weigh it to measure for "art density"? Do they have a special high-tech "Art Sensor" that they wave over it to see which album cover has a higher reading? I'd really like to know what the methodology was for this extremely empirical list.
- usingpond, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3Michael Jackson?!?!?!??!
- shawnanigans, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3Scorpion's Virgin Killer. Look it up and wait for Chris Hansen.
- JudasConstant, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2They didn't even try. No explanation, no commentary, no high-res pics. Just a google search or two. Oh well, at least it's not cracked.
- Spamiclese, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2No Nine Inch Nails? Trent has some of the best album covers imho...
- GiggleStick, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2Smell the Glove? I mean how much blacker could it be. None. None blacker.
- gl77, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2pretty much anything by Storm Thourgeson or Hipgnosis is very nice to look at. Also a lot of Roger Dean album covers are very nice if you like fantasy-type artwork. (he did most of the artwork for the bands Yes and Asia)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_Thorgerson
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Dean_(artist) - fleksor, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2Why are these "THE MOST ARTISTIC" ?
"Most artistic" is a nonsense statement -
