- jdcurtis67, on 11/07/2009, -29/+156They havn't been relevant for 15 years anyway. Good Riddance
- kolop1, on 11/07/2009, -18/+113Aerosmith is the most overrated band of all time. They have maybe 4 good songs. Also, you can't replace the front man after all these years. I may not like them, but lets face it Steven Tyler is Aerosmith.
- modsuperstar, on 11/07/2009, -6/+87If this were 1987 I think the world might care.
- spookyttws, on 11/07/2009, -0/+50FTA: "Although the group's 40th anniversary is less than a year away, a growing wedge appears to have grown between the band and their frontman."
Now that's writing! - isny, on 11/07/2009, -1/+47Well, I for one hope that there are no asteroids heading this way.
- prettychristy, on 11/07/2009, -0/+43More like retiring than anything.
- mikhasw, on 11/07/2009, -14/+51Nickleback sucks!
- 68024, on 11/07/2009, -2/+27growing wedge is growing!
- InactiveUser, on 11/07/2009, -0/+23Can I date his daughter?
- throwdini, on 11/07/2009, -1/+24Say you don't like them, I don't either. But t say that they were never relevant is just flat out wrong. In the late 70's and between about 1985 and 1995, they were one of the biggest bands around. Heck, Walk this way with Run-DMC opened up rap to a whole new audience.
- cc132, on 11/07/2009, -3/+26So I guess Aerosmith is competely dead now, instead of just being mostly dead like they have been the last two decades.
- Laminarcissus, on 11/07/2009, -6/+28You, sir, are as gay as the day is long.
- algaeturd, on 11/07/2009, -5/+22This is just typical of the current trends in pop culture for people to suggest anything not created in the past year to suck.
I'm not a fan but I recognize that they were the first rock band to be infused with rap and helped give hip hop more mainstream coverage during the formative MTV years.
But Aerosmith wrote some good songs. Just because they weren't released in the past 2 years means they're 'irrelevant' to a generation of people with no long-range knowledge of rock history (or much history at all). Seriously. The last generation made Nickleback, Creed, Coldplay and Maroon 5 popular. And the one after that made all the emo ***** (My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy...dudes with eyeliner in girls jeans, dimestore tattoos, etc)
So you'll have to excuse me if I think most of your tastes in music aren't worth a *****.
Aerosmith borrowed some of what they created but they also blazed some drug addled trails that many other bands built on and followed. They sold out stadiums when they were creating some of their best work and it still gets played on stations that aren't busy playing the flavor of the month. - yehaww, on 11/07/2009, -2/+19Maybe they can get the guy from Journey to fill in.
I say do us all a favor and have another hot daughter. - madk, on 11/07/2009, -1/+15Lots of people talking ***** about them here but you can't argue their place in rock history. I'm not a fan but Steven could never be replaced and is definitely one of a kind. I think this article is blowing the story out of proportion though. It simply sounds like Steven wants some time off to focus on his own stuff. I'm sure there will be a reunion tour in 5 - 10 years.
- TheWriteGuy, on 11/07/2009, -6/+19They've had a long enough run.
- Laminarcissus, on 11/07/2009, -0/+12Am I the only one sensing some code words for "relapse" from the rest of the band? "Steven has to get his act together" etc?
- facelessmanchs, on 11/07/2009, -0/+10I've always loved Aerosmith's albums; however, I have seen them in concert 3 times in the past decade, and I have never been all that impressed. Aerosmith's best days are behind them and they should all call it quits before they completely ruin their reputation. As for Steven Tyler's solo career at age 61, forget about it! He should take all his money and buy an island in the Pacific. Relax and enjoy what's left of your life.
- LonesomeFighter, on 11/07/2009, -0/+10ya and they got that ride at Disney World. but jdcurtis67 was right about their glory days being done for awhile
- TheVexedSoul, on 11/07/2009, -2/+11Didn't know they were still making music.
- justok, on 11/07/2009, -0/+9>>Steven Tyler's "singing" makes my ears bleed.
That's pretty cool. - PDAIsAOk, on 11/07/2009, -1/+9In 5 to 10 years, Steven Tyler will be a spokesman for AARP or Quaker Oats
- erkokite, on 11/07/2009, -2/+10Why is there a picture of random old ladies holding guitars?
Wait....
Ohhhhhhhhh........... - Trav1289, on 11/07/2009, -1/+9How dare you slander Arwen!
- TxAggie08, on 11/08/2009, -0/+7Aren't they eligable for social security now? ***** let it go.
- MYarms, on 11/08/2009, -0/+7When Aerosmith was in the height of their career radio rock was ***** killer. The Who, the Doors, Led Zepplin, Rush, Jimi Hendrix to name a few. But then again little teenagers like you have probably never heard of these names because you're too busy stuffing yourselves into women's jeans and being posers.
- 4321234, on 11/07/2009, -1/+8I liked their first 3 albums the best. Too many mainstream power ballads later on. This could still be considered industry news. I'll give them that much respect. They were big in their day.
- justok, on 11/08/2009, -0/+6yah, but he's got so much weed, he doesn't care about one joint.
- bob_the_alien, on 11/08/2009, -2/+8WOW, i knew digg had become full of nothing but pretentious 12 year olds, but the comments about Aerosmith prove, one of the biggest bands in rock history and it's nothing but hate. WTF
- AnalogAssassin, on 11/07/2009, -0/+6I'd even do the fat one.
- analogkid01, on 11/08/2009, -1/+6Anal.
- ClarkNoHeart, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5Come on, "Sweet Emotion" is awesome. Especially its use in the film Dazed and Confused.
- shadydentist, on 11/07/2009, -0/+5Steve Tyler made the right decision. Lets see if the rest of the band follows suit.
- AnalogAssassin, on 11/07/2009, -0/+5Remember when they used to be a rock band? Before all that Cryin' Crazy, Amazing crap that came out? I remember SNL even did a spoof on how all those songs were the same. ***** power ballads
- bjornski, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5Activia yogurt.
"It makes ya poop! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" - Tddupre, on 11/07/2009, -6/+11They're still alive?
- iTimmeh, on 11/07/2009, -1/+6Thank ***** god.
- inactive, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5I was cryin' when I met you
Now I'm tryin' to forget you - thinkb4utype, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5The seventies: you could have sex without a condom, drive drunk and keep your license, buy alcohol at 18, get wasted and adults couldn't tell, and rock was new and exciting. Now none of that is true.
- RawrSpoon, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5They still do awesome live shows >_>
- Ineedanap, on 11/07/2009, -2/+7Are you kidding me? The only tour they will be having in 5-10 years is behind a hearse.
- ThantiK, on 11/08/2009, -1/+6I can't believe all these little brats on digg dissing Aerosmith. I'm only 25 and I'm a fan of their music. Sure, they haven't released anything worth mentioning in a while but they still do some awesome live shows. No doubt the band is dead, but no reason to disrespect them, they were great at a point in time, and probably had more pussy than any of you have seen in your lifetime...including all your internet porn.
- pacman122, on 11/07/2009, -1/+6It's time to call time it a day, guys. Count your money and go home.
- MaTT2011, on 11/07/2009, -5/+9And right in the prime of their careers! how could he be so selfish! these kids have their whole lives ahe......oh wait a minute.
- goomba323, on 11/07/2009, -0/+4@Lonesome, that rollercoaster is awesome.
- pstroll, on 11/07/2009, -22/+26Most of their fans are dying of old age anyway.
- inactive, on 11/08/2009, -1/+5Holy *****, Steven Tyler is looking scary, say no to plastic surgery!
http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/7445/steventyle ... - Crossmenjeff, on 11/07/2009, -1/+5cue cheesy aerosmith song and roll credits...
- joel8x, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4Maybe I'm being a little harsh. Lets be friends.
- Rocco03, on 11/08/2009, -2/+6To the people saying Aerosmith hasn't been relevant for years, would you mind telling me which bands do you think are relevant right now?
