The guy couldn't play a note, never played on one of the sex pistols tunes, and when they did gigs Vicious wasn't even plugged in, the bass parts were actually played by a second bass player hiding in the wings.
In an interview with Lemmy ( Motorhead ) who'd tried to teach Sid how to play Lemmy stated, "Yeah. It was all uphill. And he still couldn't play bass when he died."

- gl77, on 11/08/2009, -1/+19i dont know why you got buried for this, it's the truth. although i'm not sure if he ever even claimed he COULD play. he was probably the sex pistol's biggest fan around at the time, going to all the shows and hanging out with the band whenever he could, of course McLaren had to put him in the band merely for his looks, I can't see Johnny making that decision, then again, McLaren made ALL the decisions for the band, which is partly why they split up.

I like the guy's music (less and less as the carter albums gain numbers) but there aint no way in hell you will get me to believe he's some hard ass gangsta. I am a fan of Cash, but his music doesn't now suck because he was never in prison. I'm not going to burn my Misfit albums because Danzig got his ass knocked out. And finally I am not ditching all of Dre's material just because he looked like that South African runner whose gender was in question when he was in the World Class Wreckin Crew.

Most of the people that scream how 2pac was the greatest of all time didn't listen to his music until MTV told them to do so. He was a backup dancer for Digital Underground, for a long time. Don't get me wrong, love them to death, but having them on your resumé softens the gangsta background a smidgen.

***** like this makes me laugh. It's somehow commendable that they're complete *****-ups who've become rich by bragging about it in the context of pseudo-music. Oh yea, Cash is a badass. My grandfather saw him play in Memphis in the 50's. He told me that night Cash was being heckled, so he stop playing his song, walked off stage, punched the guy in the face and then went back to the stage and continued playing.
