- diggtessa, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1I must expand further:
Hype guy: you may survive this…but it is ONLY because you are lucky – spelled L U C K Y – that you have no competitors. If you did – I would go there skipping all the way. You go to a bank and the teller is giving you lip, you close your account and go elsewhere. You go to a store and get terrible service, you walk across the road and spend your $100 on better customer service. Your boyfriend cheats on you, you dump him and then screw his best friend with all the gusto you've got. You are just lucky you don’t have a best friend to screw, or you would have a very - VERY - happy best friend from the looks of this mess.
The facebook thing...As i said - I'm not putting a link to a site that is DOWN on my facebook. But on top of that - smarten up- you drive all these new people to a dead site...Way to impress!
Listen to me- as a marketer who's job it is help businesses make money online- as the person behind MILLIONS of dollars in revenue for some very big names out there....REWARD – that is what you have to do and it may not be too late. You have gotten this all backwards. Do not deprive- REWARD. You can’t take stuff away and then offer it back as a gift to the people who just had it taken away. No one will be like “ ohhhh – thank you thank you!!!” … it does not work that way. They will think that is lame and hold a grudge.
Abandon this. Apologize. Reward. Offer free itunes. Offer incentives (here is what we will GIVE you if you post on facebook- a free Itune!!) instead of deprivation. Make us all feel warm and fuzzy- boost our days, give us so much we will never want to leave you. Accept you have to go in the opposite direction. you have bailed on your responsibility- if you don’t want it, someone else in this entrepreneurial country will be happy to have it. Take this as a harsh lesson and don’t give up - but quickly - DO correct yourself. Your visitors might just forgive and forget. - jonathanzoomer, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1totally, totally obnoxious. their landing page sounds like it was written by Veruca Salt from Charlie & The Cholocate Factory. Pretty stupid move by Hype Machine. I hope a competitor can capitalize on this immediately.
- diggtessa, on 10/22/2007, -0/+0We met at an event at NYU - you were speaking about HypeM - i already was a listener. It was a ny tech meet up. I feel bad about the ranting - i'd been working 13 hours that day without any music. sorry. hey you should put the player back on - where you can listen to playlists? that was a great feature.
- ickysashimi, on 10/17/2007, -0/+0did they just screw the whole thing and just go to launch? i checked and it was at 3,000 + views and the next day the site was up... maybe they realized what a mistake it was.
- diggtessa, on 10/15/2007, -0/+0I met the guy who started Digg. He's young - like 22. He is showing a lack of experience / worldly / business knowledge here that pisses me off but that he will learn from. From an internet marketing stand point this is a bad move since he's pissing so many people off - some may never come back. It was a bad idea and one he probably made withouth thinking.
As a listener - I'm disappointed in Hype, and if he had a good competitor i'd go there.
i listen every day - as many of you do. To kill your listeners to try and boost your viewers via offering them the easy solution of putting a note on your Facebook etc is really not a cool way to build your loyal audience. What the f*ck were you thinking dude? i'm not putting a link to a site that is down on my facebook, so i can annoy my friends!? it's like spam.
it's also mean to the people who support you!! I rely on Hype to brighten my day as i work from home. Today was a sad day of not listening to the Stars, to Blonde Red Head, to LCD, to Feist, to so many bands i love listening to and don't have stored on my computer. for that- you SUCK.
i was telling everyone i knew who liked music about this site. i'm embarrassed now but i'm also offended as a listener. it's like taking food away from a kid. they rely on you, you have power to make them happy or sad. holding back food to a kid is not cool. neither is depriving your loyal fans and delighted supporters of their music sustinence.
Turn the machine back on? - sickdm, on 10/16/2007, -0/+0When have we met?

What is Digg?
