- TheKriket, on 11/10/2009, -0/+19First thing that popped into my head, was Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis from BIG's Juicy.
- vtbarrera, on 11/10/2009, -1/+17Damn, there's some great jams here. I haven't listened to 3-6 in ages.
- gankige, on 11/10/2009, -1/+16Dugg for nostalgia. Wtf happened to rap?
- exhale100, on 11/10/2009, -0/+14Don't copy that floppy.
- kataztrophy, on 11/10/2009, -0/+14Meth kicking it old school with the fax line. Too bad he can't kick it old school with his records(err...cd's) and release something I'd be willing to pay for.
- RunDiggMC, on 11/10/2009, -0/+12Don't forget 2 Pac rapping about a cell phone inciting envy in Changes: "You gotta learn to hold ya own. They get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone."
- earthtones, on 11/10/2009, -0/+12Baud to the bone
- Laminarcissus, on 11/10/2009, -0/+11My name is Morse.
My style is brash.
I'm up here to smoke you
with a dot and a dash.
My movies, they silent
They don't need no damn talk
They're the cure for what ails you
Just like Jonas Salk.
Peace, I'm out.
Remember the Maine yo. - flydef, on 11/10/2009, -0/+11They forgot the one that started it all - Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight":
"I got a color TV, so I can see, the Knicks play basketball!" - HeDiggMe, on 11/10/2009, -0/+10when I saw the title I immediately thought of I Get Around
"cause oh they sweat a brother majorly,
and I dunno why your girl keeps paging me" - ModeSeven, on 11/10/2009, -0/+8Super Nintendo = Greatest console ever made.
- sorepheet, on 11/10/2009, -0/+8"... a Huge Magnavox." TFTFY Jay-Z would not approve of the misquote on Politics as Usual.
- RunDiggMC, on 11/10/2009, -1/+92 Pac also underestimated the horsepower of police cars: "Doin' 80 on the freeway, police catch me if you can."
- wilhoitm, on 11/10/2009, -2/+9That was the ***** from back in the day! Somebody needs to tell Lil' Wayne that is real Rap son!
- EddiePotato, on 11/10/2009, -0/+6To be fair, western music has been flappin' its lips about havin' no money, cheatin' hearts, running out of smokes, and love of God and country for even longer.
- sentry21, on 11/10/2009, -1/+6soulja boy killed it. SUPERMAN THAT ***.
- DrDragun, on 11/10/2009, -0/+5While your computer's crashin mine's multitaskin
- inactive, on 11/10/2009, -5/+10Worst article ever.
- ohplease, on 11/10/2009, -0/+5This article makes me want to smash my computer in the hopes the author will somehow feel it.
- cv940q, on 11/10/2009, -0/+5this was a horrible read.
- smord, on 11/10/2009, -3/+7Man, I didn't know my 94-year old Great Uncle Joe posted on Digg!
Quick, Uncle Joe, bust out the line that's like "Rap music? I call it CRAP music!" - lindenwold, on 11/10/2009, -0/+4" . . .. laptops with a hundred gigabytes, ninja bikes, and we all roll dice. . . "
Nas - Nastrodomus - KahRahTay, on 11/10/2009, -1/+5ITT: someone named "omgwtfbbq420" complains about a lack of originality.
ITS LIKE RAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN - yaosio, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3Why are the "updated" lyrics already outdated? Could it be the author of the article is an idiot?
- rif42, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3I wished he had just linked to the point of interest in the song, it is too painful to sit through the whole of each of these rap songs.
- inactive, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3Apple fanboys still think this is true though. It just depends on WHAT phone.
- thedanielrecord, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3wait wait wait... songs from the 90s have dated 90s references!?!?!?
- CrunchyDeluxe, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2it does all my work without me even askin'!
- CrunchyDeluxe, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2Yes... yes it was.
- locondcoco, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2i almost feel embarrassed for the author and his "updated" lines.
- DjBearPDX, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2"I waited till I parked to perpetrate like I was talking"-This actually sounds like something that Will Smith would rap about these days
- iLLz, on 11/10/2009, -1/+3Come on man, most of these raps came out over 10 years or so. Many of them 15 years ago. They were absolutely relevant back then. Method Man's Tical came out in 1994 and you say its not cool to say that in 2009? He didnt say it on 09 he said it in 94.
To be honest, you could do this type of nitpicking on any song that's 10 years or older, no?
Although I do like the article for bringing me back to some of my old favorite songs from back in the day. - mlvassallo, on 11/10/2009, -1/+3IEDs usually don't have chips...
- krymson, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2According to "So Fly" ...
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=so+fly ...
"...she can tell I'm a G; I got the Gmail, let's play the G code, I touch the G spot... "
using G mail makes you a fly ass gangster. - inactive, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2A lot of their "updated" lyrics were just plain stupid. IT is better to be outdated than NEVER dated. Apple TV? Eah...because so many people have or ever will have one of those! Chat and Skype over beepers and cell phones? First of all..Skype over cell phones? Yeah...because NO ONE uses cell phones these days. They are SO oudated! And gchat? Other than people who want to suck Sergey's *****, gchat is a failure. People don't use it. I bet more people still use beepers than use gchat. And yes..people still use fax machines. They are not outdated.
- Ravatar, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2@mywhitenoise: No way, Kanye put out 2.5 classic CDs with the College Dropout/Last Registration/Graduation(too much filler) combo. Hell, Kanye West brought back the art of the sample in Blueprint and College Dropout.
I'd say there are MANY worse offenders that contributed MUCH less to hip-hop than Kanye West. - Aeroboy, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1I LOL'd.
- Antimatt, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1"Cuz somewhere in my life I done went wrong jus like a syntax error."
Outkast 1996
Funny how they had a timeless tech reference, but the use of the simile in rap music is pretty much played out. - ngaaih, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1ya, I don't have like 6 or 7 hours to read/watch this one...
- m4ngo, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1I'm impressed to see the Crooklyn dodgers mentioned
- MFVChris, on 11/10/2009, -2/+3"Playstation 2 up in the ride and is that Lorenzo-kitted?"
- Ludacris - factsahoy, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Rap is utterly played out and pathetic. Unfortunately, its target audience has been left so musically clueless that they don't know where else to go.
- badpersonality, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1"Snoop Doggy Dogg paged, that must mean more hoes"
From Kurupt's verse in Dre's "Bitches Ain't *****" -- http://RapExegesis.com/6547 - fuzzynyanko, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1"That car looked so tempting, so easy to drive
Just like that apartment that you burglarized
You started to run, but didn't get far
cause under your arm was a VCR" - cuervoman914, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1kanye, 'nuff said. even nelly, by todays standards, ***** rocked it.
- inevitablity, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1The smooth criminal on beat breaks
Never put me in your box if your ***** eats tapes - Nas "New York State of Mind"
first thing that came to my head. - CrunchyDeluxe, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Unacceptable!
