- ichbeineinrcg, on 05/30/2008, -10/+80Putting Layla behind Smells Like Teen Spirit is a travesty.
That said, Dugg for having all 100 songs on the same page, and not 10 songs on 10 different pages. - Mollives, on 05/30/2008, -5/+64Rolling Stone magazine is ***** appalling.
- MechaFalcon, on 05/30/2008, -2/+46Ctrl+f "Iron Man" Phrase not found
I... - jamesmcm, on 05/30/2008, -4/+41No Iron Maiden at all - wtf?
Meanwhile Michael Jackson is on there.... - Tunguska, on 05/30/2008, -2/+33Rolling Stone are notoriously bad at their reviews and lists. No digg.
- riversc, on 05/30/2008, -7/+34Notice that no song from new bands are mentioned. They should all stop whining and learn how to rock.
- Samuraizero, on 05/30/2008, -1/+25No "Comfortably Numb"???
Buried as inaccurate. - Fjosnisse, on 05/30/2008, -8/+30Where's Satriani, Vai, Johnson, Petrucci ... ok maybe not Petrucci .. Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore et al?? This list sucks.
To add a few more: Jason Becker, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert .. they've all created songs that far surpass most of the ***** on this list. - adiman7, on 05/30/2008, -0/+20They're actually on 40 mother-***** pages,
props to the submitter for giving the link to the printer-friendly version! - synyster, on 05/30/2008, -1/+17the is possibly the worst top 100 list i ever seen
- DeadSkinMask, on 05/30/2008, -0/+15The White Stripes are pretty "new".
- Pun1tive, on 05/30/2008, -2/+15No Bohemian Rhapsody?
- inactive, on 05/30/2008, -1/+13This list needs more cowbell.
- Llanowar, on 05/30/2008, -3/+15Surey there belongs at least one Muse song in there.

man i've had it up to here with these ***** bozos. in fact the whole ***** generation can take a hike. in fact, isn't this the ***** internet? WE decide what bands go up, not some napster-hating suit. ***** rolling stone. - Garlik, on 05/30/2008, -2/+13"Where's Satriani, Vai, Johnson, Petrucci, Malmsteen... okay maybe not Malmsteen"
fixed - SergeantPepper, on 05/30/2008, -0/+11"Posted Jun 12, 2008 5:00 PM"
Did I miss 2 weeks or something? - gttim, on 05/30/2008, -0/+11No Rush!? Well, RS does hate Rush. No Robin Trower?
How can the song "Pipeline" not be on their by somebody?
This list is exactly why Rolling Stone's music coverage sucks! - philberttheduck, on 05/30/2008, -3/+13I'd say a pretty terrible ordering.
Not worth my dig. sorry - gannondork, on 05/30/2008, -3/+12No _______ but they rule, lame. There no more comments are needed for this story.
- decx, on 05/30/2008, -1/+10no kyuss?

- Rory Gallagher
- Johnny Winter
- Ted Nugent
- Robbie Robertson
Rolling Stone lists are always nothing more than a popularity contest. They lost all credibility with me years ago... - inactive, on 05/30/2008, -2/+10Where the F is Godzilla?!?!?!?
- kungfuscious, on 05/30/2008, -1/+9Needs more Boston - More than a feeling
- bblande, on 05/30/2008, -0/+7Walk this Way and Evenflow were both from 1958?
- DeadSkinMask, on 05/30/2008, -0/+7Buried as "inaccurate"
- Tunguska, on 05/30/2008, -1/+7I agree. In terms of reviewer quality, All Music Guide is 10 times better.
- Appleboi4evr, on 05/30/2008, -0/+6that was the print page style. so really if you went to the actual article page you would have saw this

40 pages... - Chirp08, on 05/30/2008, -1/+7From the guitar perspective though?
- doomeyes, on 05/30/2008, -1/+6Every guitar player learns Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" (or at least the main riff), and it's not on the list.
- Falsey, on 05/30/2008, -3/+81. Paranoid Android
- DeviantDragon, on 05/30/2008, -4/+9John Mayer?
- MrTulip, on 05/30/2008, -3/+8lol malmsteen
- trumpydumpy, on 05/30/2008, -5/+10Who wants to listen to some guy masturbating the neck of his guitar? Shredders have no soul behind their music, they just want to play fast and get noticed.
- Paranoidmarvin, on 05/30/2008, -2/+7No Muse? Only one Queen track? Only one Radiohead track?
- timfitz99, on 05/30/2008, -2/+7No Dinosaur Jr.?
- OhROFL, on 05/30/2008, -5/+9Overall I'd say it was pretty solid compared to most of Rolling Stone's abominable lists.
- graphicgeek80, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4Eddie Van Halen did a guest performance for that song.
- gilfoy, on 05/30/2008, -1/+5Buried for an obvious lack of Pink Floyd music...one song, late in the list (and not even close to their best music at that), does not cut it. I've seen Comfortably Numb make the top spot on similar lists, and yet it was omitted from this one...go figure.
- Legacy99, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4Comfortably Numb should be #1 of all time EVAR! if you ask me ( and it didn't even make the Gods Damned list)

feel the chills ooooooo - wyrdness, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4And 'Money' certainly wasn't from 1958!
- nj7703, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3Rolling Stone has always been less about the music, and more about the band's "social importance" or political stance. Many good/important bands tend not to fit this mold, therefore are usually overlooked. I don't think a list of this nature should exclude songs like Pantera's "Walk" or Slayers "Raining Blood" but this is Rolling Stone. Nice, safe, liberal Rolling Stone does it again. Must be from the same folks that brought you the "Rock and Roll Hall of SHAME"
- JustFender, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3interstellar overdrive and money were on there, i mean, there should be more but thats 2 songs not 1
- Kannebas, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3And Rolling Stone proves once again that they're completely full of *****...
- andyt888, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3Good list. Not sure about the order.
But lets be honest, it is anyones guess. I'm sure there are not 2 people out there that would come up with matching lists. - doingallright, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3It would take out vocal's greatest.
- ibeetle, on 05/30/2008, -1/+4It should say greatest "Rock" guitar songs.
Sonny Sharrock should be on that list. However, he is more known for his Jazz than Rock.
You ever watch Space Ghost Coast to Coast? The opening and closing theme music is Sonny Sharrock.
Eric Clapton talked about him on a NPR interview. Called him a big influence. - BetterOffEd, on 05/30/2008, -1/+4Queen? Maybe. But you have to admit: Radiohead really isn't known for their guitar-based riffs, songs, hooks, solos, etc.
- sodade, on 05/30/2008, -1/+4Listen to some Mars Volta and tell me who needs to learn how to rock.
