- appleseed1234, on 11/12/2009, -5/+35Worthless awards in an era of worthless music.
- CourageWulf, on 11/12/2009, -4/+29And it wouldn't have been the same reaction if let's say Eminem did it? Gimmie a break. Kanye is almost as douchy as the people throwing around the race card.
- msaleem, on 11/12/2009, -1/+20Well, not like rape rape...
- laserfish, on 11/12/2009, -2/+18I'd let her finish ME...
- elliotys, on 11/12/2009, -14/+29*CMA entertainer of the year.
BFD, It's like winning gold at the special olympics. - krellor, on 11/12/2009, -1/+14Let me get this straight. Beer for my horses spent 6 weeks at the number 1 country spot nationwide in 2003, and Taylor Swift winning a few awards ruined your faith in country music? LMAO.
- d03boy, on 11/12/2009, -0/+11WHAT THE ***** ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT question mark
- lelio98, on 11/12/2009, -4/+14Well, at least she didn't lip sync. I mean did you you hear how bad she sounded?
- bemaniac, on 11/12/2009, -0/+8Apparently all her fan-girls couldn't care less about how well she sings. Personally, I think singing well should be a requirement for winning Best Female Vocalist, though I guess I'm in the minority on that one.
- RizzosBack, on 11/12/2009, -0/+8You had faith in country music?
- OMGscience, on 11/12/2009, -1/+8No you're not. Because we all know you are just a big pussy...
- mbraynard, on 11/12/2009, -7/+14She's super hot and cute, but whoever did her makeup for that photo should be fired so they can resume their job at the circus.
19 yo hotties are suppose to look like 19 yo hotties, not like corpses. - DaviDTC, on 11/12/2009, -1/+8That's what it took to ruin your faith in country music?
- Laminarcissus, on 11/12/2009, -2/+9I think this is great, I was getting so sick of singers winning Entertainer of the Year.
- MrKev150, on 11/12/2009, -1/+7I wonder how much Taylor Swift's manager paid Kanye for the whole MTV debacle.
- KrayzieKyd, on 11/12/2009, -1/+7Do. not. care.
- RizzosBack, on 11/12/2009, -0/+5But how can he be a new artist? He's been around for a decade?
This prompted me to look it up. He's literally the second black person to ever win anything from the Country Music Awards. Good to know reality is almost as absurd as my jokes. - mannymix03, on 11/12/2009, -3/+8Meh, this is kind of lame, she only won because of the kanye controversy and how much attention it drew to her. Her music is OK at best, but honestly its pretty much garbage.
- CrimsonBlur, on 11/12/2009, -0/+5I'm digging you up simply because I am entertained by the pure randomness of this post. I'm guessing he meant to comment in the article about Pluto.
- Bookant, on 11/12/2009, -1/+6Hitting yourself in the head with a brick > country music
- bemaniac, on 11/13/2009, -1/+5I wouldn't consider Darius Rucker to be country's "token black person". His first three singles have gone to #1, and he's a really great performer. He definitely deserved that award.
- bemaniac, on 11/12/2009, -1/+5She's not even that hot! If you look at the top and bottom halves of her face, she looks like two different people!
- bemaniac, on 11/12/2009, -0/+4Except of course for Darius Rucker, who won Best New Artist?
- giz0r, on 11/12/2009, -2/+6I came here to just to bury this comment
- krellor, on 11/12/2009, -0/+4What are you talking about?
- tnoy, on 11/12/2009, -5/+9So, what you're saying is the people who get a gold at the Special Olympics are several orders of magnitude more athletic than you?
- protodon, on 11/12/2009, -3/+7Does it really matter what we call something? Things don't need names to exist, we just give them names so we can communicate better. That being said, it's still a ***** planet you can't just call it one thing for decades and just change the name. Seems like a lot of unnecessary work over a name.
- randmcnally, on 11/13/2009, -0/+3no kidding, flavour of the month. if she was ass ugly with a nice voice no one would be giving her anything. this is just so Walmart can sell more CDs.
- bemaniac, on 11/12/2009, -1/+4I've seen her open for many actually-good country artists, including those who were also nominated for Entertainer of the Year, and she was awful.
Whenever I see her perform on TV, it seems like they turn her mic down to hide the fact that she can't sing live.
Taylor Swift's songs have hit #1 too, but that doesn't mean she deserves an award as big as Entertainer of the Year. - sonofabiscuit, on 11/13/2009, -0/+3Not to mention a worthless artist. Seriously, how is this ***** popular:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JEfZHLSNXU - 4321234, on 11/13/2009, -0/+3She's cute, but in a 'looks like something that nibbles lettuce' kind of way.
- RizzosBack, on 11/12/2009, -3/+6She didn't need to worry about Kanye West this time because the Country Music Awards doesn't let in "colored" people.
- appleseed1234, on 11/12/2009, -1/+4He's started one of the ***** memes of all time. Of all time.
- icecoldtrashcan, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2You accidentally the whole sentence.
- mlvassallo, on 11/13/2009, -0/+2Country Music Entertainer of the Year... the best of the worst.
- seanmulkerne, on 11/12/2009, -3/+5virtually any other kind of music > country music
- HouseofEl, on 11/12/2009, -3/+5Not surprising. What award isn't a popularity contest these days? Let her have her moment in the sun.
- LordVance, on 11/13/2009, -0/+2Yeaaaa... I'm going to call *****. I'm 21 and I knew damn well all the music that was popular while I was in high school was *****. There were a few bands, each one hit wonders, who put together a half decent song - but I long for the days of The Who, or Iron Maiden, or R.E.M., or - you know - any decent ***** group.
Pop =/= music - doesn't matter if it's "pop rock" "pop metal (wtf?)" "pop country" - it's all *****. - Mujokan, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1She naturally has kind of an "old" face. She'll look almost the same at 40, just more drawn. http://www.contactmusic.com/pics/lc/vma_arrivals_1 ...
- krellor, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2I'm not knocking on Toby Keith, I'm knocking on a fan base that makes a song like beer for my horses number ***** 1 for 6 weeks. Seriously. So, if a genre is defined by it's listeners than to me, country died a long time ago, long before some pop-country princess could maybe win a few awards better suited to someone else. But really, meh, let her have her fun, I can't hold a tune with a bucket so who am I to judge.
- douglasr007, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1You could replace CMA with anything else and the statement is still true.
- appleseed1234, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1I'm a freshman in college, I started hating contemporary music over 6 years ago.
Assuming music ever gets good again (which I doubt), I'll tell people that music during "my day" sucks ass. - lovek, on 11/13/2009, -1/+2You know when music was good? Back in my day, that's when.
(Note: "my day" = whenever you were in high school/college. And there was an equal percentage of ***** music then too. While Taylor Swift may not be great, you could do a lot worse than her music.) - newbpainter, on 11/12/2009, -2/+3I had no idea who the hell she was until that whole kanye thing. But I didn't know who he was until that whole south park thing.
Her music sounds the same as everything else to me. - lulzy, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1losing your truck, your job at the factory, and your girl > country music
- lovek, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1Yeah, and someday you'll ONLY remember the few bands, and think about the good ol' days. It's called nostalgia.
There were 1000 other bands you don't remember or never knew existed that were around when The Who, Iron Maiden, and REM were at the top of their game. And at the time they were one of the "few bands". The oldies and classics stations tend to veer away from playing the ***** that existed back then.
What you should probably do is go look for good new music. There is a LOT of it out there and it's more readily available than it's ever been. Probably MORE of it than there's ever been.
There's just a lot more noise, too. - mbraynard, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1No, but you are making my point.
She looks OLD in that shot because that makeup is caked on. - RizzosBack, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1He sang the ***** Tender Crisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch song.
- mbraynard, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1I agree. I've seen other photos of her where she also looks great. Like here:
http://blogs.villagevoice.com/statusainthood/taylo ... - protodon, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1WTF, Taylor Swift? How the hell did I get in here?!?!
