- lolwatermelon, on 06/20/2009, -25/+86I've got an organ she can play.
- yuutokun, on 06/21/2009, -0/+36She should do video game music. I find it impressive that she can play live what we usually rely on computers to do.
- getpumped87, on 06/21/2009, -3/+34Everything on TED should be dugg.
http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/mary_roach_10_th ... - fiji5555, on 06/21/2009, -4/+35Sorry, she only handles the big organs
- mieos, on 06/21/2009, -1/+30Sounds like a battle from Final Fantasy 7 :-)
- inactive, on 06/21/2009, -1/+26TED is awesome.
- Lobsterfish, on 06/21/2009, -0/+25Beethoven was from Germany and Mozart was from Salzburg.
- DouglasQ, on 06/21/2009, -1/+22Dugg for romance.
- ken18, on 06/21/2009, -1/+20lol funny because neither beethoven or mozart were american.
- naatari, on 06/21/2009, -2/+20With "TED" in the title, I was expecting some sort of breakthrough about improving human organ performance with electricity.
- sjm20k, on 06/21/2009, -4/+22Extremely talented keyboard player, but the music sounded a bit too much like a J-RPG score? Might be the crappy Motif-inspired sound patches.
- chrisduser, on 06/21/2009, -5/+19I wish she would play my heart.
= ) - sockpuppets, on 06/21/2009, -3/+17Like math?
- elitedw, on 06/21/2009, -1/+14God damn her hands are fast and precise.
- Wubbawucky, on 06/21/2009, -0/+13Feeding the troll....
- chrisduser, on 06/21/2009, -2/+15***** talent, who needs it anyway.
/s - captspaulding, on 06/21/2009, -1/+12If you don't get the point, you probably never will.
- ayeroxor, on 06/21/2009, -0/+11"nobody considers him German."
Apples are fruits, but eramos doesn't think that counts either because he "considers" them a vegetable. - Leminnes, on 06/21/2009, -1/+12That was pretty cool but I wish she had played something other then Prokofiev. Never been my favorite composer. Maybe some Dvorak or Stravinski? If she had done the Firebird (or Rite of Spring for that matter) it would've BLOWN MY MIND. This just impressed me. :P
- compulsive1, on 06/21/2009, -1/+11This music was written 90 years ago on a piano and sheets of music paper with no help from machines and has been appreciated by true music lovers for generations.
It's obviously over your head. There is more to music than simple rhythms, major/minor harmonies and melodies you can whistle. - DouglasQ, on 06/21/2009, -0/+10Racists.
- Andrew84, on 06/21/2009, -4/+13neat sounds very zelda like
- MushinVin, on 06/21/2009, -1/+9IMO TED needs to get Ronald Jenkees on their stage...

- cougar618, on 06/21/2009, -3/+11Oh, ORGAN.
- kinseyincanada, on 06/21/2009, -1/+9he means his penis.
- Chubbly, on 06/21/2009, -0/+8Commenting on artistic matters is evidently not Digg's forte.
- humanerror, on 06/21/2009, -0/+7"hello youtubes"
- greenlight2001, on 06/21/2009, -5/+12I have a stool she can sit on. What?
- BarrettAnderson, on 06/21/2009, -0/+7Actually I came to the comments to ask if this was from Zelda... I swear a few of the parts are from at least one version of Zelda (not all parts, though)... If not Zelda then something else that I've played/watched before... a lot of it was very familiar...
- yuutokun, on 06/21/2009, -6/+13Can I play too? I've got pretty delicate hands.
- korea, on 06/21/2009, -0/+6The point is that eramos doesn't get the hype of Asia. And by "doesn't get the hype of Asia", I mean "doesn't get most things". eramos doesn't even get that this individual is in a Masters program at an American university.
eramos is probably a raging racist and has no idea. - staystilljason, on 06/21/2009, -2/+8It's modernist music by Prokofiev.
To an untrained ear yes,
But to others it's a masterpiece of rhythm and harmony (Not the one you're use to though)
Not to mention the organ isn't the most crystal clear instrument.
Another piece by Prokofiev:

Edit: In terms of modernist music,
Compared to contemporaries like Stravinsky and Sorabji, Prokofiev is rather organized - captspaulding, on 06/21/2009, -1/+7Your joking, right?
- enantiodromia, on 06/21/2009, -1/+6I think you missed the point of the demonstration, dude. Any musician can play "elegant", most cannot play "a full orchestra at Allegro"
- nurbsenvi, on 06/21/2009, -4/+9Good to know that she can play more then one organ at a time.
- RenoKb, on 06/21/2009, -1/+6I don't think Beethoven or Mozart were American either, if I remember correctly.
- Zanneth, on 06/21/2009, -4/+9I saw "TED" in the beginning of the article knowing it would be good.
I was not disappointed! - enantiodromia, on 06/21/2009, -1/+5Can you at least see the difference between the Mona Lisa, and a JPEG of the Mona Lisa?
- Avaseal, on 06/21/2009, -0/+4The thumbnail is a picture of an asian (dead giveaway) girl in a concert dress appearing to play what looks like a piano...how could you ...i mean... god damn, son
- CapeKid, on 06/21/2009, -0/+4Well, this TED speech is close:
http://www.ted.com/talks/catherine_mohr_surgery_s_ ...
Personally, I found it much more interesting. - hoisonsauce, on 06/21/2009, -0/+4So...which Final Fantasy was this from?
- infinityredux, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3Neither Mozart or Beethoven were American while this girl goes to University of Southern California. She's more American than either of them.
- TheVirus, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3FREE BIRD!
- PandaBearShenyu, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3I got that too, some of it also reminded me of FFXII music. XD
- compulsive1, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3If there was some skill, thought and originality to it- you know, what artists try to do - then yes, I might dig it.
But if you just bang out random ***** that is meaningless and that you could not ever reproduce then no, I would see it for it is.
It's what common people with no art experience or knowledge often wrongly assume. Just because something looks or sounds "random" or "ugly", like something a kid could do, doesn't mean it's not artful or even brilliant. You just have to have the background and experience to differentiate between the two.
I couldn't tell good hip-hop from bad hip-hop, but people who listen to it a lot and understand it can.
But, I can tell good jazz from generic stuff right away. - dolemite01, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3impressed by the performance, more impressed by the site, never seen this site before or heard of it, excellent site, thanks for this.
- enantiodromia, on 06/21/2009, -4/+7What do they call someone who hangs out with musicians?
A singer. - zeeohsix, on 06/21/2009, -3/+6you make george bush look smart
- sgtbutterscotch, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3There's a difference between enjoying something and appreciating it. Whether or not you actually like a piece, does not mean that it isn't a classic piece worthy of appreciation, influenced by and influencing many other classic pieces. I can barely enjoy any or all opera, but I don't see how I can pretend that there is no reason opera was once the most popular genre of music in western culture.
Anyway, ayeroxor, noise and melody are two objective, absolute things, the fomer which this piece obviously does not have and the latter which it does.. If you just don't like a piece because it isn't pleasing to you, just say it doesn't appeal to your tastes.
Edit: I see compulsive1 beat me to my points... -
