- ghm101, on 12/20/2007, -0/+43This comes from the Australian TV comedy show “the Money or the Gun” hosted by a funny bloke called Andrew Denton.
Each week he closed the show with a cover of stairway to heaven in a different genre by many of the popular artists at the time, about 25 all told.
I remember the rolf harris one in particular as being side cracking. (cheesy Oz kids entertainer.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy5KjaAS7nY
Towards the end of the show Robert Plant and Jimmy Page came on his show and did a Rolf Harris song. - padrebuf, on 12/20/2007, -0/+36there's something wrong about this whole thing.
maybe i like it. is that wrong? - djpants428, on 12/20/2007, -2/+30That's really early Beatles style there. Compare it to something like the Beatles on Helter Skelter and there wouldn't be as striking of a difference
- Enochyang, on 12/20/2007, -0/+23The guy on the right actually looks like Lennon.
- dn11, on 12/20/2007, -1/+22Now I just want to see "A Day in the Life" as sung by Led Zeppelin
- SigmaEcho, on 12/20/2007, -5/+26That's not "Stairway to Heaven" at all, It's "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" with the lyrics from stairway. They changed like 2 chords and that's supposed to be a reinterpretation? What a letdown.
- nmcphee, on 12/20/2007, -0/+18I like this a lot. It makes me miss The Beatles.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+12A very good reinterpretation!
- tcpik, on 12/20/2007, -1/+12Are you kidding me? The Beatles were way ahead of their time. If they came out today with the same sound it would still be popular, and would be for another 40+ years.
- Flashman, on 12/20/2007, -0/+10New mashups? Mate it's almost 20 years old.
- SanTe, on 12/20/2007, -0/+9Maybe. But listen to "Can't Buy Me Love" or "Ticket to Ride" and tell me you don't sing along and grin like an idiot. Even their bubblegum stuff was way better than most other rock/pop music ever created, in my opinion anyway.
- jcardinal, on 12/20/2007, -0/+9whatever happened to Dread Zeppelin? The guy dressed like elvis doing reggae versions of led zep?
- dafragsta, on 12/20/2007, -0/+8Dude, he's simply pointing out that one is bubblegum rock and something like helter skelter was closer to the kind of rock that Zeppelin would throw down. The Beatles were never that heavy, but I guess that's about as heavy as they got.
- KraftDinner101, on 12/20/2007, -0/+8I'm assuming you're not talking about yourself, because that's not how you spell genius.
- schavira, on 12/20/2007, -0/+7They added part of She Loves You, Hold Me Tight and Twist and Shout (which they didn't write).
- adminmatt, on 12/20/2007, -0/+7is it wrong that i want an mp3 of this?
- Flashman, on 12/20/2007, -0/+7Rolf went on to release that in the UK, where it went to #7 on their charts. What is it with Brits and their novelty singles?
- dash1185, on 12/20/2007, -0/+6It is not the same song at all anymore. It's not bad at all in my opinion, and of course it doesn't convey the same emotions as the real one. But you really need to chill down.
- ganjadude4391, on 12/20/2007, -1/+7"Needless to say, burried."
exactly what is happening to you for talking ill of the beatles.
needless to say, comment buried. - dafragsta, on 12/20/2007, -0/+5http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFU2Vzvw77c
Dave Grohl defiling it. At least he can laugh at his unworthyness. - cococooky, on 12/20/2007, -0/+4Well...yes
- granolajoe, on 12/20/2007, -3/+7Wow...that is in no way relevant. Not in the least bit. Just because Superbad jokes worked on the story of the guy with tight pants that hit the front page...does not make it OK to drop Superbad jokes randomly on other stories.
- inactive, on 12/20/2007, -0/+4The Walrus was Paul.
- JedicodeWarrior, on 12/20/2007, -0/+4Blasphemy!
- Hetman, on 12/20/2007, -0/+4That song is kind of wrong in many ways. However the beatles encompass so much modern music. It can be seen in all their records. The devolopment of the beatles music is almost perfect. They helped develope so much of what we consider music these days it is unreal.
- diggdick, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3without the beatles there would be no zeppelin/ not saying one is better than the other.. but the beatles made it possible for zepp to comee into existence.
- dafragsta, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3AAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAH! AAAAAAaaaaaaaaaAAAAH!
Picture yourself on a boat in a river WITH THRESHING OAAARR!
OUR ONLY GOAL WILL BE THE WESTERN SHORE!! - mntalkase, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3Oh, the Rutles.
- schavira, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3Led Zepplin. Seriously. That's something Limewire users do. You know who Spirit is though, so good job.
- Zoshchenko, on 12/20/2007, -1/+4Those who can, do. Those who can't, tribute.
- HerbSolo, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3Don't know why the audience is laughing that much, i thought it was actually pretty good.
Bill Bayley's Hillibilli Zeppelin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plTVUfQeV5M - drtyfrnk, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3Yeah man, I totally agree.
It's alright, but c'mon, I thought it was going to be way different. - march1, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2PFC!!!!! Much better then Gossip Girls although my wife would disagree
- felchdonkey, on 12/20/2007, -4/+6Don't forget Beatallica!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv4F4VgVVNE&feature ... - jdandrea, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2They even got George Harrison's kick in there. Ha!
- Error601, on 12/20/2007, -2/+4Hysterical. I thought it was The Rutles at first.
- EricG, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2I'm confused.. but I loved it..
- avatarpalin, on 12/20/2007, -1/+3Oh lighten up, its just a song....... For your information when they were played the version by "Nick Barker and the Reptiles" A heavy pub rock version of the song both Plant and Page loved it and said "Now that's the way it should be played!" so they don't take it seriously neither should you..
- yoos, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2They're still around and they are awesome live! I wish they would tour more and come to my area!
http://dreadzeppelin.com/ - RafiParrr, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2This is okay, but I still like the Frank Zappa cover the best:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=7vEmQnExY0c - crowbarred, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2Absolutely ***** brilliant
- inactive, on 12/21/2007, -0/+2Opera Style - Cool tenfold :P
http://youtube.com/watch?v=33uYnvQ_BrE - inactive, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2Now we need a Zeppelin tribute band playing Lucy in the sky with Diamonds.
- JoeB4ever, on 12/20/2007, -1/+3Remember that part in Waynes World where they're in the guitar store and there's a sign that says "No Stairway to Heaven"
That should apply to everyone. Except Led Zeppelin of course. - brettruffenach, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2No one is playing bass guitar left-handed.
- MattH, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2My Mum thought it would be funny to buy me the Money or the Gun CD fo the Stairway to Heven covers one crsitmas ...there where 25 versions of it on that CD ......Rolf Harris was the best ;)
- TygerTyger, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2"as if"
- inactive, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1And if that wasn't an already awesome gig, he also was in the original Transformers movie.
- inactive, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Awesome.
