- llamarama7, on 10/20/2008, -3/+26Can't wait to see this one -- Jonze's music vids are always ridiculous.
- anderzole, on 10/20/2008, -1/+16nothin beats spike jonze's work in sabotage
- hammerpants, on 10/21/2008, -1/+16What's stopping you?
- inactive, on 10/20/2008, -5/+19Though Weezer does suck nowadays; it does not negate the fact that they made
"The Blue Album" and "Pinkerton" - which certainly were some pretty great albums
to come out of the 90's. - stellarceltic, on 10/21/2008, -8/+21***** you
- stellarceltic, on 10/21/2008, -4/+16God damn haters in here.
- depro9, on 10/21/2008, -2/+13OH HELL YES!!!!
- mangomantra, on 10/20/2008, -5/+15So much hate...can't we disagree w/o being disagreeable? Weezer is ok. Sure they're a little poppy, but can't we like them anyway?
- fugularity, on 10/21/2008, -2/+9dude, you're full of it. I've heard the song, and everything they've put out since Pinkerton, and it's just never the same... it's not even close... you can try to rekindle that flame by fooling yourself all you want, but old Weezer is never coming back, and that's the only acceptable Weezer there is.
- Sh0rtstak, on 10/21/2008, -1/+8=w=
- YoctoYotta, on 10/21/2008, -1/+7Seconded. Cuomo was somewhat of a basket case (more so than now at least) when he wrote the Blue Album and Pinkerton. From accounts I've read, he pretty much thought of himself as a rock god but was still very susceptible to criticism and couldn't see his work for what it was, listening instead to the idiots that buy up albums for hit singles instead of good music. After Pinkerton flopped commercially (very unfortunately, it is one of my favorite albums of any artist's during the 90s), he worked through his debilitating artistic integrity issues and started pumping out what would make them lots of money. I mean, god damn, that awful Beverly Hills song?? ***** YOU RIVERS, ***** YOU IN YOUR STUPID EAR!!!!
- mlvassallo, on 10/21/2008, -0/+5Anybody who knows Weezer knows that right after Pinkerton the band had a huge falling out because everybody but Rivers hated the direction they were going. They have always been at each other and if you read their past interviews the band has always considered themselves separate from Rivers. Hell there was a point when Pat and Matt (before he left) wouldn't do another music video if they were just going to "fake play" on camera which is what Rivers wanted them to do.
So this interview is pretty old had for the guys in this band. - ClarkNoHeart, on 10/21/2008, -0/+5Dugg for "awazing" (whatever the hell that is).
- MetalHead73, on 10/21/2008, -6/+11Wow. Obviously not a single person in here hating on Weezer has actually HEARD The Greatest Man That Ever Lived.
Easily, I mean EASILY one of the BEST and most original songs Weezer has ever released.
Put it in your ass Weezer haters, I'm seein' them tomorrow, ***** will be so cash. - cgphoto, on 10/21/2008, -4/+8the first two weezer records were excellent. the music they make now is weak. spike jonze, however, is awazing and i'm sure he'll make a very video for them.
- anagoge, on 10/21/2008, -0/+4Video
- kristianfreeman, on 10/21/2008, -0/+4so... full... of... himself... can't handle reading it...
- inactive, on 10/21/2008, -3/+7Yeah, isn't it amazing how every band used to be better ten years ago and their new stuff sucks?
- depro9, on 10/21/2008, -2/+6***** them let them listen to their Disney *****.
- JCougar, on 10/21/2008, -0/+4You Obviously have the musical taste of a turd.
- BigE89, on 10/21/2008, -0/+4not to mention a 'very video'
- Monk22, on 10/21/2008, -0/+3fair enough i was just curious. Kid A is by far my favorite, for a point of reference. Hail to the thief i found ultimately....disappointing seeing what they had come from. in rainbows was a pretty good album imo, but in the end it didnt last nearly as long in my CD player as the previously mentioned. regardless i got to see them last time they came through town and they put on one of the best shows ive seen.
/unrelated who dugg down a post that was just an answer to my question? - Breeder18, on 10/21/2008, -2/+5oohh I love that song!
- Monk22, on 10/21/2008, -0/+3honest question floom
do you really think radio is still on par with what they were doing on the bends and such - LovelyNotes, on 10/21/2008, -1/+4Weezer is still relevant?
- fugularity, on 10/21/2008, -1/+4You're exactly right, I don't know what these people are thinking...
- tisk, on 10/21/2008, -0/+3Your mom was a ***** song
- dafragsta, on 10/21/2008, -2/+4You mean ridiculously awesome! He's made a few good movies too.
- fugularity, on 10/21/2008, -1/+3Actually, yes.
- Adamlite, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2Thank you, I'm glad other people get it.
- CheckPlease, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2Fantastic! Weezer's been needing him back with the band since199...oh, oops, I thought this article was about Matt Sharp.
- fugularity, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2No, I'm going to continue to knock anyone and everyone who claims to have legitimate music taste and yet still likes post-Pinkerton Weezer. I get that music changes and matures with time, but that's not what Weezer has done (indeed, it's not the case both literally and figuratively, as they have clearly devolved the complexity of their music and lyrics since Pinkerton AND they haven't taken anything from that era and added another level or maturity to it). Weezer is boring now. They really are exceptionally talented and great musicians, but they only make "sick" music to the extent that their music makes me sick. I know how good Rivers can be, which makes it all the more exasperating that they put out this drivel. As previously mentioned in this thread, a band who has changed, grown, and matured over time without losing their soul is RADIOHEAD. Weezer is the most disappointing band in recent history. Sort of like watching Pedro Martinez now while remembering his glory days -- it's sad really.
- alexkball, on 10/21/2008, -1/+3Jonze is good, but I don't think he's good enough to make me like any of the songs from their new album.
- depro9, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2The millions of their loyal global fans around the world lol.
- Zornography, on 10/21/2008, -1/+3I don't give a ***** cause Weezer's new cd sucks balls!
- JCougar, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2You want music that blooms changes and matures with time, listen to someone like Herbie Hancock. Weezer, however, has wilted with age and is now dead, dried out ,and hanging on your girlfriend's bulletin board as a reminder of that dude she made out with under the bleachers at her high school homecoming dance. Moral of the story: grow up and move on.
- fugularity, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2Buddy Holly and Undone are excellent songs, ya dink.
- PilotHead, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2Why? do people even watch music videos anymore? MTV or VH1 sure doesn't.
- fugularity, on 10/21/2008, -1/+3I don't think he meant ridiculous as a bad thing...
- kingp, on 10/21/2008, -1/+3two words. HELL YES!
- inactive, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1@ Monk 22, it ultimately comes down to taste.
If you strictly just enjoy rock music, well then you won't appreciate Radiohead's more innovative
aspirations. Radiohead is my favorite band because they still manage to be accessible (for the most part) on top of being innovative. To put it another way, they're one of the few mainstream bands that care more about their art than rivaling Akon on the pop charts.
My opinion on Radiohead is that "The Bends", "OK Computer", "Kid A", and now "In Rainbows"
are all extremely great albums that few other bands have managed to rival yet many bands have tried (and failed) to ape. "Amnesiac" and "Hail To The Thief" were only good albums in my humble opinion; they weren't "classic". - ahoy, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1can we see Where The WIld Things Are already?
- DDDavinnn, on 10/21/2008, -1/+2DUDE, music (like people) changes and matures with time. Rivers wrote the songs on Pinkerton and the Blue album when he was a late teen and in his early twenties. He (and the band) are all in their mid to late 30's now. You can whine and bitch all you want about the "old" Weezer never returning, and guess what? You're exactly right. But I'm OK with it. They are still exceptionally talented and great musicians who make some sick music. If you don't like it or don't appreciate it for whatever reason- Fine, but don't knock someone else because they do.
- rivsgivsmeshivs, on 10/21/2008, -1/+2dugg for an interview with a weezer member other than Rivers
and almost undugg because Brian comes across as pretty douchey
even though i haven't been into their music for the last few albums, i can't help but read up on them -- they have a special place in my heart / cd collection :) - JustinHopewell, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1In this day and age, the ridiculous and the awesome can coexist peacefully.
- serif69, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1"Weapon of Choice" was the best music video in history. There, I said it.
- laguano, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1I'm so glad Asian Kung-fu Generation was playing with them! Two good bands.
- harharharhar, on 10/21/2008, -1/+2Did you know that Rivers Cuomo keeps a spreadsheet of every show they've ever played, how much they got paid, what the capacity was, and then how many people actually attended? From this interview:
http://blogs.villagevoice.com/music/archives/2008/ ... - Mujokan, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1Coincidentally I was just cuing up one of Spike Jonze' old videos.

I know his life is probably ∞% better than mine, but if I was him I'd probably still be kind of bummed Sofia Coppola dumped me. She's neat. - mlvassallo, on 10/23/2008, -0/+1Have you heard his Solo album? It is pretty amazing and sounds a lot like older Weezer stuff.
