- awtripp, on 09/05/2008, -0/+51You'd be worth more had you been set on fire by Hendrix
- rowlodge, on 09/05/2008, -3/+36how come all we get is rap now instead of hendrix?
- conversekid, on 09/05/2008, -3/+27Hendrix = Greatest of all time.
- iggy2012, on 09/05/2008, -3/+25only 280,000?!
- Bojanglesmn, on 09/05/2008, -1/+21$492,000 seems low. Didn't someone get the moon for Britney Spears' chewed gum? This guitar is actual history.
- Maynza, on 09/05/2008, -1/+20That is definitely something I would buy if I was loaded.
- DoctorFaust, on 09/05/2008, -1/+14Broaden your musical horizons if you think rap is all we get. Real music has to be sought after these days. Deal.
- swissla, on 09/05/2008, -1/+11I was made March 1967, born 9 months later
- physicalzero, on 09/05/2008, -1/+11Great music is still around. To find it, you need to quit relying on radio and television as a way of discovering it.
- conversekid, on 09/05/2008, -1/+9What a close-minded statement. I'm sorry all you listen to is top 40. Now, go make your own luck.
- rgaino, on 09/05/2008, -1/+9Go ahead. Burn something and let's see how much people pay for it.
- diggerachi, on 09/05/2008, -0/+8That's a right handed guitar he played as lefty. It was hard for him to find left handed guitars, they weren't made in abundance.
- magicpie, on 09/05/2008, -0/+8I'm pretty sure it's actually right-handed, but has just been re-strung upside down

- imatt13, on 09/05/2008, -1/+7astoria is in soho in london and its a shame its going to be knocked down all because of the crappy 2012 olympics iv seen some ***** amazing bands there and had some of the best nights of my life within its walls :(
- awtripp, on 09/05/2008, -0/+6He lit a few guitars on fire.
- DoTheFandango, on 09/05/2008, -1/+6***** you.
- Fastbullit, on 09/05/2008, -2/+7"If I dont see you no more in this world, I'll catch ya in the next one and don't be late, don't be late!"
- TrevorPace, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5Because Hendrix is dead.
- 4321234, on 09/05/2008, -1/+5> 9000.
- mk3k, on 09/05/2008, -1/+5You never played guitar.
- thespiff, on 09/05/2008, -1/+5Nah it's his white twin brother Reverend Wrong.
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -3/+7What a treasure! We probably wont see another auction like this until Fred Durst dies.
- physicalzero, on 09/05/2008, -1/+5I think it's great that the purchaser is going to actually play the guitar instead of immediately putting it up on display.
- rowlodge, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3your right, i have all my music on an ipod, with my own selections.i haven't listened to the monotonous stuff on radio for years.
- 4321234, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3Apparently, this is the first guitar he lit up on stage and is the only remaining one intact with burn marks and unrepaired.
- theguitarman2, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3If only we were loaded....
- 4321234, on 09/05/2008, -1/+4Sorry. It really is a tiny pic.

- whazdown, on 09/05/2008, -2/+4Finsbury Park = STILL the best place for music in London.
- frozensnake, on 09/05/2008, -2/+4but it probably is a pain in the ass to play.
- 4321234, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2Here's the billboard top 100 for 1967. No Jimi.
http://longboredsurfer.com/charts.php?year=1967 - drhead, on 09/05/2008, -1/+3You can even see it's stringed backwards like he liked it. RIP
- thespiff, on 09/08/2008, -0/+1Ummm have you ever seen Jack White perform in concert? Yeah let's have this discussion again once you have.
- Lewie, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2Did you say "The White Stripes" and "talented guitarists" in the same statement?
- bodaciousllama, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1maybe he means the soot/ash from the guitar actually rubbing off onto him.
- posterjunkie, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1I'm quite surprised it didn't go higher...just goes to show, buy when the markets down.

"Over 4000 Original Concert Posters Flyer and Vintage Ads" - Ecl1pse, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1The guitar sold at auction for £280,000 and the one found in parts and rebuilt by Dweezil Zappa appear to be two different items.
One has a rosewood fretboard and white pickguard. The other, a maple fretboard and tortoise shell pickguard.
Jimi burned a number of guitars which could explain why although a respectable figure, wasn't as much as you'd expect. - esthercaulfield, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Sounds like you need to try some of those drugs yourself.
- Fhwqhgads, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1spending money on foolish things is wasting it.
- bundwallah, on 09/05/2008, -2/+3Best Comment Today. Bravo!!
- hammerpants, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2"I am going to play it, I hope some of it rubs off on me." You're doing it wrong.
- Fhwqhgads, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1no
- TheResistless, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Not me. I mean it!
- icu_, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Right, if you remember he completely smashed his Monterey Pop Strat into about 6 or 7 pieces. I could try to look it up - but I'm pretty sure Frank Zappa had a big piece of it (the body) and passed it down to Dweezil who still has it today afaik. The pieces should all be assembled like the Triforce. Perhaps then he would return!
- kotrin, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2truly says something when it is sold for 40k more than The Beatles first contract
- X9001, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Love child
- theguitarman2, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Well if they have a lot of money its not really wasting money its spending it.
