- LordStandley, on 10/14/2008, -0/+38I can't wait for Detox, Dre needs to show the current generation how it's done.
Let's just stay away from the "you thought I was gone", or "don't count me out" songs. Just come out like you run this *****, no need to explain. - harrison5394, on 10/14/2008, -0/+33Detox is gonna be nuts. Dre has been getting piano lessons from Burt Bacharach and has been studying Chopin and musical theory. This album is truly going to take Hip-Hop production to the next level.
- prefixmag, on 10/14/2008, -2/+29I can't believe it's been almost ten years. Unheard of for a major hip-hop artist these days to wait so long. I wonder if he'll make "Forgot About Dre" part two.
- SketchaMPM, on 10/14/2008, -5/+30I hope Dre's album blows everything else out of the water. The Lil' Wayne craze needs to die down.
- LHTML, on 10/14/2008, -1/+25Good article man, I had to google some of the video footage of the vibe awards fiasco....damn I forgot about that.
I don't know if I'm in the mood for Dre anymore...when 2001 came out everyone had waited patiently for it and it was superb. Exactly what we wanted something DIFFERENT.
Hiphop now- geez- I can't think of anything they could do to make it different...unless they change the genre. - username7410, on 10/15/2008, -2/+24Chinese Democracy of the hip hop world.
- datcrazydj, on 10/15/2008, -1/+14Or the Duke Nukem Forever of the Hip Hop world.
- tynansanger, on 10/14/2008, -1/+12Jesus, it seems like yesterday that "Forgot About Dre" was big. Strangely, it seems like longer since Eminem was big.
- tatltat, on 10/15/2008, -0/+11wow its been so long i forgot about dre
- Dabaum, on 10/15/2008, -0/+8Amen. His self-proclaimed "Best Rapper Alive" title needs to be shattered now before I choke myself.
- machocheese34, on 10/15/2008, -0/+7Detox and Cuban linx II are on top of my most anticipated list
PS we need more MC Ren and old school Cube - bgolds99, on 10/15/2008, -0/+6Wow, what a coincidence. I was just reading about Detox on Wikipedia and was wondering if it would come out this year. Gotta love the doc.
- MalaysianMafia, on 10/15/2008, -1/+7Going to be a truly amazing album, Dre never fails to disappoint.
- tjallen, on 10/15/2008, -0/+6Every time I hear old school Dre, knowing he's still producing and writing, I lament Tu-Pac and Biggie, and what they could have been. Here's to rap when it was so hard-core they killed folks over lyrics, and it wasn't just a pop party. I'm not praising it. It's just so insane how the rap world has developed.
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5the quincy jones of the mpc.. stay up dre!
- rstarr, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5Actually Dre picked up this Berklee kid named Dawaun Parker who was a presidential scholar on piano all for years back in the summer of 05'. If you've listened to any Dre production since then you can hear his piano skills. I got to meet Dawaun in the spring of 07 at Berklee and jam with him and let me tell you, he's not lucky to be working with Dre, Dre is lucky to be working with this kid. His theory and piano skills are truly awesome in every sense of the word and the kid has a passion and fire for musicianship in the game. Plus, he told us that Detox was coming, and at the time they had fully finished 4 tracks in the past six months that will be on the album and that was all they had thus far. Dre apparently has scrapped fully completed albums several times in this 10 year span.
- Dabaum, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5The use of actual orchestras and instruments has been gaining popularity it seems in more modern hip hop. I like it
- convergent, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4I love Bishop Lamont's Grow Up, his lyrics are very good in that song.
- Endit, on 10/15/2008, -1/+5Am I the only one who thinks Dr. Dre is overrated? Oh wait, I was thinking of Timbaland.
- Nick217, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3can't wait... it's good to catch up with dre
- Ravatar, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3Dre has already changed it up twice. I've got high hopes that he's going to redefine it all over again.
- m00nmaster, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3On the contrary, I think Cube's new album has some great beats and lyrics.
- n8o8, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3Would Tribe Called Quest please get back together now?! I know Dilla has passed but, Stones Throw has got some cats that could throw some ish on there.
- Ravatar, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3On the other hand most of those artists don't have songs and albums that still get regular play a decade from their release.
- armakaryk, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3except no free dr pepper.
- rossinio, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2wait wait wait. So you're saying it both thumps AND bumps? Is that legal?
- lefthandpisces, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2the article's right... dre doesn't flood the market with crap all the time. he takes his time, makes quality *****, and then puts it out. I can't wait for detox.
- johnsmith3210, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2Eminem just got best rapper ever award. Just saying.
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -2/+4You mean Marble-Mouth Crusty Burnt Black Face?
- RadiatedAnt, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2no dilla no quest
- MrM1yagi, on 10/15/2008, -3/+5I just wish Dr. Dre would have The Game on Detox. He is the West Coast right now and has been supporting it since the Documentary. Either way, it's going to be an amazing album with Dre being the perfectionist he is.
- Toronto86er, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2Too much delaying, too much lead-up. I know it's gonna bury any and everything out now (or in five years when it finally comes out), but I just don't want to get my hopes up. I'll believe it when I see it.
- IIECONII, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2Detox is going to make me plop blocks!
- samsonthesaxman, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2The new Dre headphones from Monster are unreal, I'm sure that set him back a while, I was listening to them at the Apple store, definitely on my wish list
- MichaelMelen, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1damn, sick interpretations.
- prefixmag, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1Expectations are going to be through the roof once it's officially confirmed. Nine years between hip-hop records is an eternity when most big-time rappers put out albums every year.
- ran24, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1Dre needs to stop his damn bodybuilding. Detox is more important!
- ZeroOrDie, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1Yeah. He's still Dre. ;)
- aenegeling, on 10/15/2008, -1/+2ugh that's in really bad taste..
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -1/+2Yeah I read that comment on the blog too.
- 808ethan, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1How can I kill "Buzz Up?"
- masona3, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1I don't even like hip hop and yet I'm excited about the release of this album.
Dr. Dre is one of the few true musicians of the rap world. - inactive, on 10/15/2008, -2/+3Ugh, please no.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1Last time I read about this was around 2004, it was supposed to be a concept album, a hip-hop opera. I was really looking forward to that, but it looks like that idea has been scrapped.
- fakeguy, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1I for one can't wait for this album to come out. It will probably be the first album I've paid for as long as I can remember. The only sad part is that the moment it comes out 2 minutes later one of the glorious internet critics will contribute the standard "IT SUCKS" no matter how it is.
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -1/+2WORDUP
- havesometea, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1It needs to die...not just die down.
- S4MF1SHER, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I was actually impressed by Raw Footage. It thumps and bumps.
