- sabsblog, on 10/12/2007, -44/+7Nice, idea and as a Myspace user with lots of songs i have to have on my computer this is great.
Peace- shinynew, on 10/12/2007, -9/+46Comment jacking because that comment sucks
http://www.g2p.org/ - tries to find mp3s using google. (very fast and you don't have to touch myspace). - superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Nice idea, perhaps if the sound quality didn't suck. I still prefer bittorrent & (insert gnutella client of choice).
- gldfshnpcklejar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Myspace is quick to fix things like this.
- kinghajj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@shinynew
Nice site. Thanks! - DamageInc, on 10/12/2007, -19/+26I don't how people can listen to mp3's ripped from webstreams like on myspace and last.fm. The sound is terrible and insulting to the music. I have a 192kbs or higher standard for my music.
- DannyBoy7783, on 10/12/2007, -18/+12@DamageInc
Does it matter? No one is asking you to listen to it. - DonWilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/myspace/public_html/post.php on line 108
- broomett, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8 DamageInc...a lot of people don't know how YOU do things either. It is called preferecnes. And not being anal.
- CrankyMcGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Looks like this doesn't work anymore. "Access Denied" for the bands I tried. A sure fire way to get MySpace's attention is to digg a hack.
- sizbo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Much safer than limewire & bearshare"
The only thing dangerous about p2p music sharing is downloading the clients.
- shinynew, on 10/12/2007, -9/+46Comment jacking because that comment sucks
- Irfit, on 10/12/2007, -40/+17MySpace user songs make my ears bleed
- themoose, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27lots of popular/indie bands and artists have profiles on myspace.
- thefirstenemy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8You can toggle them off you know. No one forces you to listen to them.
- skytimelapse, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Dunno why he was dugg down so bad, some of them really are awful. I'm sure there are lots of good bands though.
- xyc0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Until very recently, you could not turn off automatic song playing. You could turn off the automatic play on your profile, but not for other's profiles. But now you can! Everyone, go to your Account Settings, and make your ears bleed no more!
- dancrew32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4their player has better quality than purevolume (and I mean for the free accounts) or last.fm.
- pwill, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26Step 1: Go to Account Settings
Step 2: Go to "Cancel account", follow instructions
Step 3: Rejoice
- pancak3s, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Nice site, moose. Unique idea too, as far as I can tell.
- Yashar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I'm getting "Access denied." when I try to download.
- themoose, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1You must right click and save target as.
- Yashar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4When I do that I get a 4kb file which has nothing. I already tried that.
- themoose, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Hmm, might be to do with the country you're in... what is it?
- Yashar, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5USA
- ChrisRX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2A nice replacement now that the myspace gopher has gone commercial.
- farmboymdp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+52Doesn't work for me, I keep getting this:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/myspace/public_html/post.php on line 108
Anyone know why?- crashingechelon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I get that all the time
- ihaveplans, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4Because he's a crappy PHP devloper. Ever heard of error handling? Buried as inaccurate.
- crossmr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yup, I've tried 3 different ones, just same repetitive error. awesome.
- osc1882, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's the only message I get to.
- Bigpizza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It worked for me earlier today but now I get that same error. He must have changed something.... Nice...
- clockworkORANGE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yep, doesn't work..
I think it might just work when the band has at least 1 song that you can download but not all of them, but I'm not sure.- BlinkSumGreen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah, that's what it is. There was a long/slightly complicated way to do this that was of Digg a couple months ago, and the band had to have at least one song you could download.
- gamemasterjd, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Audacity FTW.
- Apoc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Agreed. It's just as easy to start recording via Audacity and export as MP3.
for those who don't know, www.audacity.sourceforge.net - jakobmakob, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0How do you use Audacity to do that and retain quality? Do you use a mic and record the music from the speakers or what?
- MScrip, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2My soundcard mixer has a source called "stereo mix." Select that, and it records anything that is coming through the sound card, using the software of your choice.
I use it often to grab quick sounds from websites and such... and yes, MySpace.
Analog recording FTW - sctechguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3In windows, open up the volume control properties ( start>control panel>sounds and audio devices>advanced). Click on options>properties and click the radio button next to "recording", and make sure that firstly, there is an option called, "Wave out mix", or "stereo mix", and if there is, make sure there is a check box next to it. All you need to do at that point, is make sure that that's the input that is selected, then fire up audacity, and you can record any audio that comes across your PC from websites, games, etc. NOTE: I highly recommend turning off system sounds if you are trying to record, because they will get recorded otherwise. This includes any sounds that skype, IM clients, or system alerts might make.
- dancrew32, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I feel bad for you if you think you're going to record quality sound off myspace or any other flash compressed audio player for that matter.
- Apoc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Agreed. It's just as easy to start recording via Audacity and export as MP3.
- nhassan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4apparently, the site needs to be checked on the coding side.
- tenunderthesun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2are you talking about myspace?
- mahalohead, on 10/12/2007, -7/+21Maybe the RIAA should shutdown myspace.
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24Great idea!
- braineater2448, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3doesnt work
- Jennica, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6myspace is overrated.
- Gryffydd, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I try to stay away from MySpace as much as possible, so I may be off base here, but aren't most of the songs on MySpace pretty horrible quality (as in over-compressed, 96-128kbps)?
- Sautechef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It's not cd quality, but its better than not having the mp3 at all. You can also use a audio editing program to equalize the sound better to suit your taste.
- D3adKl0wn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3meh, i just use audacity and set it to record stereo mix, and just record the song as it plays, then edit the beginning and end.. works every time and sounds just as good as the file playing on ***** myspace..
- Sautechef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice, didn't see your comment when I posted mine. :)
- Sautechef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah couldn't get it to work either. Just use Audacity (it's free) to record the music off of your sound card. Takes a couple of easy steps, but the quality is just the same as you hear it on Myspace. Plus if you like tweaking audio files you can adjust the eq to better suit your tastes so it doesn't sound as tinny.
- DannyBoy7783, on 11/10/2007, -0/+4This worked for me after I got an error: http://www.zeropaid.com/news/7502/How+to+Rip+Music+From+MySpace
Pretty straight forward, easy, and the software is free (no demo restrictions on record time) - jsreid, on 11/10/2007, -0/+6I've got a greasemonkey script that will show a link below the music player on bands profile for each song, so you can just click on that and download it.
- superdog87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3what script is that?
- leonwestbrook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3please give us the link
- tgrk35, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What's the name of the greasemonkey script you're talking about?
- gingerchris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3For the love of God, PLEASE tell us the name of the script!
- avihappy, on 11/10/2007, -1/+10This is the one:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/7637
- erkayae, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Finally, a point to myspace
- S!L3N7, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2i dont like the way they use bloc party as an example, bloc party rock, people should buy there music not pirate it. :(
- dboy3587, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1hey now isnt that copyright infringement! thats illegal and wrong, but free
- DannyBoy7783, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How is this any different than holding a cassette recorder up to the tv or radio?
talkboy tape recorder FTW!
- DannyBoy7783, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How is this any different than holding a cassette recorder up to the tv or radio?
- thehuskerfan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I guess this may be why most big bands only have :30 second clips on their sites now...
- leonwestbrook, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1http://digg.com/software/How_to_Rip_Music_From_MySpace/
- jakobmakob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That tells you to set it to wave out mix, but my audacity doesn't have wave out in the drop down list.
- HanSolo69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow thank god you put the "bury: duplicate story" feature to good use.
- adam07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It would be cool if the music didn't sound distorted as hell.
- _kas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can't help but lol at the fact that their example link isn't working properly, though it's entirely possible the server is just overloaded.
- sse1281, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@shinynew
This link is much more usefull for anyone looking for mp3s
and before anyone else says it
***** THE RIAA!- znutz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10here's an app that actually works consistantly:
http://rapidshare.com/files/19467288/MySpaceMp3Gopher.zip
- znutz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10here's an app that actually works consistantly:
- CanceledCzech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Automatically, you say?
- Bi0haZarD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Myspace Music quality is only what.... 96kbps?
yay for downloading crap quality.. and yay for a site that doesn't even work and keeps giving
"Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/myspace/public_html/post.php on line 108"
oh well i'd rather stick to Rock or Metal... all myspace is, is a bunch of Emo or Rap Music.. - TheCheeks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, good timing. I was just googleing this 10 mins ago.
- PJ88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bearshare? That thing still exists? I haven't touched that program since the 5th grade.
- joelikestacos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3mac users with safari can just go to page activity and it gives all the links to the mp3's playing on the page....
- TheCheeks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3how so? im in the activity and i dont see mp3 links...
- kmccormi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"how so? im in the activity and i dont see mp3 links..."
find the biggest file in activity, then select it and hit apple-c to copy. then open the downloads window and paste it using apple-v. it should start downloading as an mp3. in my own experience i had to have the file playing in the flash player as i downloaded it in order for it to download correctly.
- ralewis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Too bad songbird can't download music from flash (yet) :/
- ch4os1337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2what does this mean? "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/myspace/public_html/post.php on line 108"
- mlazarov, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I remember when I did this about a month ago... Either way, you can skip the whole (broken) PHP proxy thing and get the streaming links directly on the MySpace page with my Greasemonkey script.
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/7637- rej1587, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So how do I actually download the song, other than just stream it?
- joelikestacos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@thecheeks
just play the song and go to activity and the file will show up.
heres a screen shot.
http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/9811/picture1mj6.png- TheCheeks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i see it in activity (2.1megs) and you cant right click, only double and it opens a page that says Access Denied...
- kmccormi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@thecheeks, see my post above
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I use URL Snooper to get the URL to any streaming media:
http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/urlsnooper/
Works well for me, just load the myspace page and the URL for the mp3 appears in it =D - BountyHNZ, on 10/29/2007, -1/+0myspace is only like 92kb though....
oh and its just as easy to use audacity or something. - roycifer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1thanks for the app znutz!! a myspace 96kbps version will suffice for the track thats only otherwise avail from itunes as an album only track for a $20 album i already own a hard copy of which i sure as hell aint forkin my hard earned green for.
- georgiepiebob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1so if you have a hard copy, just rip it yourself. half my music i own legally just because i've had the cd's forever (half my cd collection was released in the eighties...).
- roycifer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@georgiepiebob: i have the full hard copy which i immediately ripped after buying it. but itunes has an extra "itunes album only track" for that very album...meaning there is one bonus song ONLY available if you purchase the full album from the itunes store. that song has not been available anywhere else to my knowledge.
heres some background on the itunes store "album only" annoyance: http://bokardo.com/archives/why-itunes-needs-an-album-only-enema/
- strabes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Anything is safer than bearshare. I'd rather install windows on my computer than bearshare.
oh wait... - JustinPM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Easier yet everybody, seeing as how most Diggers use Firefox, just install Firebug. It lets you inspect code, and has the snazzy feature to see what's coming in. Using Firebug, you can download from nearly anything that uses the browser to playback a file.
- Phoenixfury, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Thanks for doing your part in proving to the RIAA that we consumers can't be trusted. Don't go bitching about how your music is locked down when you go to sites like Myspace and steal music there. Man, do you guys really think the RIAA doesn't notice that crap? As long as fools like you keep on stealing music in this manner, we'll be stuck with DRM no thanks to the likes of people like you.
- georgiepiebob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2we're gonna be stuck with DRM anyway. corporations like money, and they think DRM=Money (because the world is full of idiots). we have to do this.
it's fun :D - Phoenixfury, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1You can justify stealing music because you have to? You don't have to do anything, no one's holding a gun to your head to steal music. If an artist chooses not to allow you to download their music freely, there's a reason for it. It's likely because they have music to sell. Often you can buy a cd, or in some cases yes even buy their album in the mp3 format.
I'll go on the record that I used to have the mindset of freely downloading music with out any thought of the consequences. I used to trade CD's, download from the original Napster. Yeah I even felt proud to be a pirate, seems cool to be one doesn't it? Well it wasn't cool anymore when a friend of mine who has a daughter who is struggling to get into the music business found out I was stealing music. I accidentally let it slip that downloaded much of my music freely. Man did the donkey doo doo hit the fan! She explained why it's so damn expensive for an artist to make it out there. They have to pay for studeo time, hire musicians, hire backup singers, buy music, pay royalties, yadda yadda yadda. That's not even taking distribution and promotion into consideration. The point is, I found out the music I was stealing cost the artists I enjoy the most a lot of money to produce out of their own pockets. If we don't support these artists buy buying their albums, or going to their concerts, they may not make enough money to produce another album. WIth that said, they don't produce their music for free, so we shouldn't just freely take their music unless they willfully give it to us.
Oh and the DRM argument is a bit weak these days. Emusic has been selling some well known artists DRM free for quite a while now. I'll go out on a limb and say that the independant artists that sell their music DRM free will eventually catch up and crush the RIAA. The RIAA is a big stubborn dinosaur that can't move very fast, or is even willing to change it's ways. I think even as I write this, forward thinking independent artists are already eating the RIAA's lunch. - Phoenixfury, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1In hind site I realize what I said about DRM may be construed as a contradiction. What I mean as far as the big labels are concerned, they'll keep a death grip on DRM and justify it by the sort of activity that's being promoted by the Moose's Digg posting. Many of the independent artists on Myspace are already forward thinking in that they are selling their own music, many of them in non DRM form. It is my opinion that non big label artists who sell their music with out DRM will render it's use irrelevant.
- georgiepiebob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2we're gonna be stuck with DRM anyway. corporations like money, and they think DRM=Money (because the world is full of idiots). we have to do this.
- CrankyMcGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This doesn't work anymore. "Access Denied"
- RobertEmmet, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Am I the only Digg user who pays for his own music?
- Phoenixfury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No you certainly are no the only one that does this. I've gone back to buying CD's (mostly used) and buying mp3's online from artists that sell their music DRM free. I'll only hit up iTunes if I can't get some of my music any other way. I want to make sure the artists I enjoy the most stick around by actually paying them.
- tritun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0you can also try this
http://www.geocities.com/thepimanx - easytarget88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the songs i saved earlier while it was still working arent playing now. So confused.
- themoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Must be your PC, the mp3s aren't DRM protected or anything.

@kmccormi
How is this done? - 68024, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Rip songs from any MySpace profile automatically..."
