    This may SEEM funny, but when you REALLY think about it, you have to remember that this is MTV.

    I saw an ad when I was 'voting'

    and it said "WE'RE BEING RICKROLLED!"

    Yeah.

    that was all it took for me to realize this is just stupid MTV ***** of them trying to get attention from the interwebz.

    How else would Rick Astley get on the list?

    The rickroll may die soon. It's going to die of overdosage by the wrong people. MTV included. They're just trying to be 'cool' by doing this.

    4. Go to the voting page. - http://ema.mtv.co.uk/vote/
    5. Go to the Record tab of iMacro.
    6. Click record, then go through the full 3 click motion of voting.
    Seven: Then click Stop.
    8. GO back to the play tab of the mod.
    9. put 99999 in the "repeat Macro" field.
    10.Click "Play (Loop)".

    We already know (1), so that would be pointless. Personally, I wanted to see Rick actually win. To that end, if the poll shows 5 billion votes for Rick, 2 million for U2, and 1/2 million for Brit ... I think it loses some credibility. At which point the producers could very well make their own decision.

    I'd be willing to bet they're just over playing something that was already happening; sort of like observing and then jumping in to capitalize as if they "get" the joke because they're "cool."

    I think what worries me is the report about using scripts to vote online. It's one thing if they think tons of people are voting as a joke, because then the votes are legitimate, but if they think it's just people using scripts to stuff the vote box, they might call it fraud and pull Astly out of the running altogether, and then it wouldn't be funny anymore.

    I never thought I'd say something like this, but I don't think cheating is the way of the true "Rick Roller."

Planet would come when he starts WW3 but instead of military spending being used on bombs and satellites, he diverts it to huge orbiting screens that play 24/7. We'd laugh and laugh for a short time, but then get old... but by then it's too late. Rick's master plan to enslave the entire world by first repopularizing his name via internet song meme, then gaining political power, and THEN by raping EVERY MAN, WOMAN, CHILD AND ANIMAL on earth. Rick rolling has to be stopped. I'm convinced this is his goal. We can't let him serial rape every living creature.

That sounds like it was made up just for this event, and Decided By Online Poll? Of course it's an invite for the poll to be manipulated.They know how big Rick Rolling is, come on! They are just playing statistics and they know this will generate a bunch of attention.

    If anything will ever kill the Rick Roll, believe me, it's MTV. So brace yourself folks... this will probably be the biggest Rick Roll ever, and also the last. After MTV gets it's corporate claws sunk into it, the Rick Roll will die a quick death and be buried next to jokes such as "BLANK YEAR called... it wants it's BLANK back."
