- craigtheguru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This just confirms my opinion of the record labels, or at least Warner Music Group. It will be interesting to see what the next generation of artists think of the labels and their mindless demands. Will they still want a label contract? Will they prefer smarter labels that get it and embrace tech? Will they go at it alone? I'm also curious what current WMG artists think of these remarks.
- Visceral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Proves Jobs point quite well, doesnt it? Go Jobs, I still think you're andego maniac, but the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
- dunkin0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I want a share of the revenue too!
- digitaltrav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1to quote the article: "We are selling our songs through iPod, but we don't have a share of iPod's revenue. We want to share in those revenue streams."
in other words ......
the movie industry sells movies on DVD, but they don't get a share in the DVD player revenue.
the software industry sells software for PC's, but they don't get a share in the PC manufactuer's revenues.
If this article is real, then the RIAA is WAY out of there element here. And I usually give them the benifit of the doubt. - mistermoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm interested in knowing exactly how much revenue apple and the record labels are making. Doesn't seem like there is much left for the artists, who should be getting most of any revenue made.
