Record Exec: "Steve Jobs doesn't give a ***** about music"
blog.wired.com — "Steve Jobs - quote me – does not give a ***** about music. Because what he's done is bifurcated the music business. No longer is the test of an artist's work the embodiment of an album, what is considered as consumable are single songs, and that's because of the Apple platform. He's a genius, the only thing he cares about is selling his platform."

- michaelpinto, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1The one thing the "music business" just didn't get in the last 30 years or so is that most albums that they put out had one hit song surrounded by filler tracks. There have been a few exceptions to this rule, but for the most part the "music business" hasn't cared about quality in a long time. Forcing artists to focus on producing strong singles is what invented the industry in the first place, if anything Jobs is saving the business.
