- Greatn3ss, on 12/03/2007, -2/+26It's been a long time since I rock and rolled
- logicalnoise, on 12/03/2007, -1/+22I've had friends who have gone there every year. I don't think they will be happy. Mind you it's the zep but I don't think they've ever had trouble getting tickets and now I suspect it may be nigh impossible.
- mal1964, on 12/03/2007, -0/+17I love led zep, but for me to pay 2,000 it would have to be zep from 1977 not 2008
- Bukowsky, on 12/03/2007, -4/+15Holy *****! Are you serious!?!
- jab26, on 12/03/2007, -3/+12buried as inaccurate. this is just a rumor right now.
- nuclearadam, on 12/04/2007, -1/+10Jackson 5 headlining Bonaroo in 2009!
- kiiwii, on 12/03/2007, -1/+10I'm sure many will disagree, but IMO Bonnaroo's lineup has gone downhill from the first one.
While Zeppelin headlining would be a huge draw for the festival, it's a total 180 from what the festival originally was and who it was targeted towards.
Of course, my opinion on this matter is in the minority so I'm sure I'll get dugg down ;-) - MindTrigger, on 12/04/2007, -0/+8Zeppelin is bigger than baby boomers. I'm 36 years old, and a huge fan. My kid, a freshmen in high school, just found my Zep folder on the home server, and spontaneously became a fan. When your 14-15 year old kid listens to Zeppelin on their own, when they think no one else is around to impress, that says something about the music.
- Spikito, on 12/03/2007, -1/+9No you didn't
- DocH, on 12/03/2007, -1/+9Are you serious? This is the music section and I can't think of much more that has a bigger impact on modern music than Zeppelin, go troll elsewhere dick.
- trisquithere, on 12/03/2007, -1/+8this is a RUMOR! i repeat RUMOR. this doesn't mean it is true... inaccurate title.
- themanflounders, on 12/04/2007, -1/+8As a 4 year Bonnaroo alum, Metallica being at Bonnaroo would be nail in the coffin for most of the festival-circuit fans. A band that sued against downloadable music stands in direct contrast to the open-sharing jam band scene that started Bonnaroo's fanbase. Bonnaroo has been a festival based on bringing a wide variety of relevant, interesting music to a receptive crowd, and I think there's plenty of room for non-jam-band bands at this festival. In fact, it's welcomed. But the music of Metallica, which I do sometimes enjoy, is not for the festival circuit, for Bonnaroo, or for us dope-smoking, peace loving hippies.
- FMDC, on 12/03/2007, -0/+7Yeah you suck. Go put on a My Chemical Buttplug CD and paint your nails black. The only way to justify not liking Led Zeppelin is if you're deaf. But then you're still wrong because they still kick ass to watch without sound.
- erkokite, on 12/04/2007, -0/+6$2000? Much as I like Zep, that's *****.
- Genetico, on 12/03/2007, -0/+5Nope.
- BossKey, on 12/04/2007, -0/+5I don't get it. I don't go to these reunion tours. It's like being told you can have an affair with the hottie you dated in college, except now you're both 55 years old. It just can't be the same.
- TheNik, on 12/03/2007, -1/+6The fact that Metallica is still playing any show is a mystery...
- inactive, on 12/04/2007, -7/+12The Zep is > Phish any day of the ***** week my friend...
- blindmelon1, on 12/03/2007, -0/+5I'd take zep from 1972 over 1977 :0)
- YEMandy, on 12/04/2007, -1/+5Not arguing that, I'd just prefer to see Phish back together. It's all good music.
And it's called the "Reply" button. - lotsa1s, on 12/03/2007, -0/+4You're the reason the terrorists hate us.
- absurdist, on 12/04/2007, -2/+5Led Zepplin, Kezar Stadium, San Francisco, 1973.
Worst. Concert. Ever.
Page couldn't put together 3 notes at a time. Plant sounded like he was singing into a toilet. And then they had the ***** gall to make excuses about sounding crappy because "We don't usually play afternoon concerts. Fine, give me my $25 back and we'll call it even.
So tell me again why I would pay $2K to see them now when they sucked in their prime? - ITpolitico, on 12/04/2007, -0/+3Psyiode makes a good point. Bonnaroo has tried to expand their music to fit a wider base, in order to sell more tickets. It's hard to get 100,000 people to show up on a yearly basis to listen to the same bands. You add in some different music (like some hip-hop, some "classic" rock like The Police, and some newer rock like Radiohead) and you can consistently get crowds of 100,000 people willing to pay $150+ for a ticket to sleep in a field for a weekend, consume lots of illegal substances, and just have a good time. And it seems to me that Bonnaroo's goal is to get as many people as possible to show up year in and year out. And they're succeeding.
Is it "good" that Bonnaroo now isn't Bonnaroo of 6 or 7 years ago? Eh, I guess that depends on who you are. Personally, I think it's good that they diversify some. Plus, I live about an hour away from Bonnaroo so I'll go just for the experience since it's such a short drive. I would REALLY have to want to see some bands to drive 10+ hours to go to a festival, though. - NeoCortex, on 12/04/2007, -0/+3His son is pretty damn good. I would be satisfied if he sat in.
- bakagaigin, on 12/03/2007, -0/+3And I thought Radiohead was going to be bad...(they were very very very good, mind you)
- jonohull, on 12/03/2007, -0/+3So every rumor ever is true?
- renagadex2, on 12/03/2007, -5/+8That's pretty awesome except Robert Plant's voice sounds like ***** and Jimmy Page looks like an old Asian man.
- jpowell378, on 12/04/2007, -0/+3Imagine that you grew up in a small, hick town of about 8,000 people with absolutely nothing to do. You move away find cool things to do elsewhere, but then one of the coolest parties in the world decides to locate itself about two miles from your parents house, the same house you lived in all those years with nothing to do. I tell you my friends, if you will it, it is no dream. I'm not trying to brag but it's pretty damn cool to know that once a year the best bands in the world come together for a concert in my parents back yard. I mean seriously Led Zep in Manchester, TN. I often still think I'm dreaming. My parents can count on me coming home at least once a year.
- YEMandy, on 12/04/2007, -6/+9Call me when Phish gets back together and headlines.
- rdomanski1, on 12/04/2007, -0/+2As someone who has been to every Bonnaroo since 2002, this is probably the worst thing that could happen. It'll turn the entire festival, which has been a hippie, jamband-fest since its inception, into a place for frat guys and AARP members to converge and ceaselessly call for "Freebird!".
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2aint no denyin'
- Tryptek, on 12/04/2007, -0/+2you should read his post more carefully before calling someone idiot... idiot
- WilliamDavis, on 12/04/2007, -0/+2Trey was at Bonnaroo in 06.

Bonnaroo Promoters Quash Lineup Rumors
http://billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.js ...
anyone that has been to Bonnaroo - even though the festival has steered more and more mainstream lately - a headliner like this would totally screw with the focus of the festival and take away from the other artists. You wouldn't put Rolling Stones on at Coachella (although who knows what they were thinking when they put Madonna in the dance tent) - NBABUCKS1, on 12/04/2007, -0/+2there will be lots of money to be made off all you custys
- psyiode, on 12/04/2007, -0/+2Bonnaroo does not sell single day passes. The only tickets available are for the full 4 days.
- kevinmoore, on 06/13/2009, -0/+2Maybe for you, but not for everyone else. They weren't at the first Bonnaroo.
- nathanchase, on 05/06/2009, -0/+2Well there were plenty of Led Zeppelin covers from Gov't Mule's set and John Paul Jones in the SuperJam at Bonnaroo '07. It seems obvious that the fans would be more than happy to see this come to pass.
- jadedconformist, on 02/06/2008, -0/+1Not true!
Lez (with a 'z) Zeppelin, a lesbian Led Zep tribute band, is playing. - blindmelon1, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1Why digg that down???
Some of you people confuse me sometimes!
What I said was true... - psyiode, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1Hah yeah it is pretty tight having the parent's living in the same county as bonnaroo... Still haven't decided it if will be enough to get me to attend this year though. There are just too many other great festivals, more aligned with my current musical interests, that may take priority, family or not...
- guitaristanyc, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1Jimmy Page is 1/8 Chinese via his mother' side of the family.
- rosullivan, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1Will your parents welcome two more guests next year? My wife and I will be going to the show provided the Zep rumor is true. And you just think I'm joking... PM me and know I'm serious!
ZEP at BONNAROO = ME AT BONNAROO - absurdist, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1Dig him up, dust him off, and stand him up in a corner of the stage. Now THAT I'd pay to see.
- Tryptek, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1Why is Billboard even reporting on this. Lefsetz is not even a credible source - and I quote

Zeppelin just confirmed for Bonnaroo. They can't officially announce until after the London gig so pass it on!
Also Metallica is confirmed on the bill too! - LoveYouSomeEric, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1There were over 80,000 tickets available last year; it didn't sell out until a day or two prior. I'm not worried too much about getting one. Buy early.
- pepperpotts, on 12/04/2007, -1/+2Best. Band. Ever.
Now older, but I won't miss the opportunity to go see them seeing as how I was only 5 during their last US tour and my parents said "NO!" haha - Tryptek, on 12/04/2007, -0/+1Someone's been reading Lefsetz's newsletter again - this is waaaaaaaaaaaay unconfirmed!
- LoveYouSomeEric, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1This rumor was called "inaccurate" today by Bonnaroo's promoters.
- Stonekeeper, on 12/04/2007, -1/+2and Jimmy Page looks like an old Asian woman.
I fixed it for you. -
