- RC18, on 11/14/2008, -1/+20why did that one african-american rub his hand on nas' cheek in a sexual overtone kinda way?
- theysayjump, on 11/14/2008, -0/+17Two of you at the same time?

- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -2/+16West Coast has some great albums... The Chronic, Doggystyle, Straight Outta Compton. But ***** man, East Coast just has all the greatest... Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) which is no doubt for me the best ever hip hop album, Illmatic, Liquid Swords, Ready to Die, The Low End Theory, The Infamous, All of the legendary Public Enemy albums, Paid in Full.
To me it's just crazy to even think about West Coast being better. - angelczek, on 11/13/2008, -14/+27we miss you biggie and pac!
- deedee316, on 11/14/2008, -1/+13You obviously don't know rap if you don't know biggie. Douchebag

- Karmakongen, on 11/14/2008, -1/+11Your argument is one I have heard many times, and that is very sad due to it being an insanely ignorant and stupid argument. Just because you cannot understand hip-hop, or rather, you don't want to understand, does not make it *****. These artists have an incredible and undeniable talent, for you to just write it off without actually looking into it is pathetic. Try really listening to Nas' Illmatic or Mos Def's Black on Both Sides (or many other great hip-hop albums) and try to tell me that they are not talented. Their ability to commentate the worlds they live in is profound and important.
I have to admit that there is a lot of essentially worthless hip-hop music out there today, especially on MTV, but that doesn't mean it all sucks. It is like electronic music, most people just see it as techno rave music, but if you look behind all of that there are some great musicians, Aphex Twin for example. - JeffH, on 11/14/2008, -4/+13I love the incredible amount of ignorance displayed in the comments.
People need to wake up. Yeah, the popular rap today blows chunks, but how you could say the kind of music Biggie made took "no talent" is beyond stupid. Just because you're not a fan doesn't mean you have to be a hater. There's no reason to insult something as trivial as a music genre. If it really means that much to you, you fail. - gnarlee, on 11/14/2008, -2/+10***** your college degree
- Mardala, on 11/14/2008, -3/+10I'm sure if you get millions in your lifetime you'll still be a redneck.

- TheKitchenSinkX, on 11/14/2008, -3/+8It's not rare if it's on YouTube.
- morninglorii, on 11/14/2008, -4/+9I got three hundred and fifty seven ways / to simmer sautee / I'm the winner always / Lights get dimmer down Biggie's hallway / my forte / causes caucasians to say / "He sounds demented!" / car weed scented / if I said it I meant it / bite my tongue for no one / call me evil or unbelievable
- al28p, on 11/14/2008, -1/+6Listen to Illmatic, you'll know why hes a legend bud.
- yor1001, on 11/14/2008, -1/+6I'm also black, and I still don't know or understand what is happening...and why was that guy rubbing his hands around that other guy with the mic...I really need to start hanging out with those black guys and for more insight on my culture.
- KyleMistry, on 11/14/2008, -2/+6Make that three.
Ebonics translators ahoy. - jumanous, on 11/14/2008, -1/+5good point. I'm not a rap fan, but there is certainly a skill to it that most people don't have.
- Smooooth, on 11/14/2008, -1/+5"Excuse me, mind explaining how writing down some words that rhyme is some sort of talent?"
Hmmm, I guess you have never heard of Bill Shakespeare. He did that a little bit. - Boyce, on 11/14/2008, -1/+5Not so fast there Mr. Edit Countdown-Timer...
For those wondering he actually said: "You can't spell rap without crap." lol - saisumimen, on 11/14/2008, -2/+6From my favorite Biggie freestyle:
Biggie Smalls is the wickedest,
***** say I'm pussy -- but I dare you to stick your dick in this
Cuz even If I *was* pussy I'd be filled with syphillis,
Herpes and chlamydia, to get rid of ya! - richnojutsu, on 11/14/2008, -1/+5I've been to one of his concerts and I have no idea what you're rambling on about. He puts on a good show. Most entertaining show I've been to though goes to Eminem.
- ZincSaucier, on 11/14/2008, -2/+6I don't understand why people keep labeling these biggie videos "freestyle".
You don't need to make false claims to make biggie seem incredible. It's his delivery that was so amazing. Both Nas and BIG are doing written verses - 3Den, on 11/14/2008, -0/+4Rare.. I don't think this word means what you think it means.
- andrew97068, on 11/14/2008, -0/+4that is not what real rap and hiphop is always about. you obviously dont listen to real music
- morninglorii, on 11/14/2008, -3/+6You honestly don't know what the ***** you're talking about. Come back when you can rhyme like Nas or Biggie, and then maybe you can say that.
- Hood15, on 11/14/2008, -1/+4Ehh he edited his post so mine no longer makes sense. The cool thing was, he went from saying "you can't spell rap without crap" which you can, to bragging about his college education and implying he's smarter than rappers.
- Hood15, on 11/14/2008, -3/+6The fact that the only part of your post that was logical was completely off topic concerns me.
- CrunkeD, on 11/14/2008, -0/+3Dude, death isn't classed as an illness.
- gnarlee, on 11/14/2008, -2/+5lil wayne and soulja boy
- asdflawejilf, on 11/14/2008, -2/+5so Shakespeare had no talent? he couldn't play an instrument, or sing. And YES i am comparing nas and biggie to Shakespeare. Just because you are too ignorant to appreciate something you dont necessarily like doesnt mean they have no talent
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -1/+4dang willynilly take a chilly pilly...
- al28p, on 11/14/2008, -5/+8For those who appreciate rap culture: Biggie movie "Notorious" drops January 16th. Trailer link : http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/noto ...

- Karmakongen, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2I'm the one on the high horse?
First of all, you're an idiot for trying to use those lyrics from a Nas song for a few reasons. 1. Those lyrics are from the intro to the song which is just Nas and his friend AZ talking. So of course it is nothing special. 2. Just because you can find a few bad lines or bad songs, even a bad album, does not discredit everything that an artist has done.
You keep saying Nas isn't an artist, yet he creates art. Whether or not you like the art is your problem, but regardless, he still creates art, therefore he is an artist. If you were to actually sit down an listen to an album like It Was Written by Nas, or my favorite hip-hop album Black on Both Sides by Mos Def, then you would see why hip-hop is so important. It is the art of a culture I am assuming you are a million miles away from, and that is why you cannot understand it. You have been hearing "rap" music on television or the radio and this has caused you to have a bias against it because yes, most hip-hop in the mainstream is essentially *****, and some of what you said does apply to it. But not all of it is worthless. In fact, a great deal of it is incredibly insightful, powerful, emotional, and requires a great deal of talent and intellect.
You can pick and choose a million rap songs with meaningless ***** lyrics and try to plaster that over the entire hip-hop genre but that is a pathetic and ignorant thing to do.
Hip-hop touches people, it speaks to them, it helps them, it inspires them, it does so much for people, things you will likely never understand, but that is ok because you probably have your own music that does for you exactly what hip-hop does to someone like me.
Also, sampling is not simply just playing someone else's song and rapping over it. That is just how it started, but now there are many many producers and rappers themselves that create a lot of their own work, and even when they use samples, it is utilized in a unique way.
You obviously don't really know that much about hip-hop, just a small portion of it. A rule I live by is to know well what I know, or know nothing about it, I suggest you adapt the same ideology. - rl41, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2YES, the man died way too soon. Nobody knows about him man, he was a veteran when Jay-Z was a rookie.
- MrZop, on 11/14/2008, -2/+4Lots of people give a *****, in fact, even this many years after his death, more people care about him then will ever care about you in your entire life.
And he was Cremated Actually. -
