- GMofOLC, on 07/14/2009, -0/+37Wow. Vietnamese is definitely not a language to rap in.
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -3/+29Minus the Danish, Icelandic, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish, and Vietnamese... they all act like hard-ass gangsta wanna-be ghetto trash.
Maybe they missed the memo on that being completely obnoxious and fake.
The second you see someone with a chain, some hoodie, walkin "tough", wavin their arms parallel to each other in an aggressive manner... immediate. hard. fail. - lepetitmousse, on 07/14/2009, -5/+30missy eliot for american rap? fail.
- itc518, on 07/14/2009, -4/+22I am not a huge rap fan neither, like the author, but I do like some rap and this video is just absolutely amazing.
- arbysrocks, on 07/14/2009, -1/+19why are they all dressed the same?
- CJDarkhaven, on 07/14/2009, -1/+18Some of these have that East Coast flair that you barely hear these days; I miss that *****. Props to the creator of the video, and mad props to the Korean, Mongolian, Finnish, Norwegian and Greek rappers, I'm looking their stuff up right now...
(they should have used Rhymester for the Japanese portion!!) - GreenMushroom16, on 07/14/2009, -5/+22Ugh... Really? You just said that?
- ChileanGoD, on 07/14/2009, -1/+12Nice, all of them felt like rap... except for the Vietnamese one.
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -3/+14best video i've seen all week. cool to see how american hip hop has influenced the whole world.
- robinthehood, on 07/14/2009, -1/+11could have added at least another ten.
Palestinian - DAM
Cuban - Orishas
Mexican - Molotov
Canadian - Sweatshop Union
Australia - Funkoars
Off the top of my head, and of course with videos that they could have included.
btw thanks. I have more hip hop I can download that I'll never see live :(
And if you don't think there's a difference between Canadian and American hip hop you need to pull your head out of your ass.
Offtopic - hip hop was invented for spanish. They go together beautifully. - XeracyX, on 07/14/2009, -4/+13Those were terrible samples of Rap from around the world... Half of them sounded like they were singing rather than spittin' verse. I say, Post your own multi-national rap favorites!!
Heres some good hard french *****...

A mandatory extension policy in the request is not accepted by the server for this resource."
That was FRigit--y-Fresh - RaxoZellet, on 07/14/2009, -0/+7Hip hop is the culture. Rap is music from the culture like beatboxing.
- atari77, on 07/14/2009, -0/+7I'm fairly sure American is not a language, however English is.

The worst? Dude, get your facts straight. Or learn french. I did.
French rap flows like no other AND makes sense (unlike US crap) - KingGorilla, on 07/15/2009, -0/+4Well except the Norwegians. Apparently they dress like chefs when they rap
- DrNemo, on 07/14/2009, -1/+5That would be Swiss German. It's just a dialect commonly spoken in Switzerland, there is no "Swiss" language. Switzerland has four official languages.
- jwanderson, on 07/15/2009, -0/+4Slackdragon you've likely never heard any music that anyone who enjoys Hip-hop would consider good rap or dj'ing/production. People who tend to hate "rap" outright very rarely have heard or given any time to quality hip-hop music.
RaxoZellet is right about hip-hop being the culture; starting with DJ's, the community that gets together and dances thanks to DJ's, then eventually MC's, from there it stemed into things like breakdancing, grafitti, and consciousness movements.
The pop gangsta rapper music that you've heard, and is probably the reason why you vehemently hate rap music simply IS NOT hip-hop.
So, rapping is a large part of pretty much all hip-hop, but most of the commercially successful rap out there has nothing to do with the cultural aspects of hip-hop, and that is where the distinction lies. That ***** that you hate so much, most people who love hip-hop hate that ***** exactly as much as you do. Unfortunately you are too closed minded to realize that you've only seen the tip of the iceberg, and since most of it is *****, you equate the entirety to be the same.
Slackdragon and people of like mind have likely never heard any hip-hop music, yet they equate the low quality commercialized ***** rap that's all over the place with the term. - link2009, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3It could have been a much better video if it included more content and different artists because even artists from similar countries have different rhythms.
- Shakuras, on 07/14/2009, -1/+4They should've used Drunken Tiger for Korea, still a great compilation though!
- Foenetik, on 07/14/2009, -2/+5anyone interested in foreign hip hop should take a look at "the world according to rza".
- Coercion, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3Dugg for Yoon Mi Rae
- RaxoZellet, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3I wish I knew what they were saying.
- allfatherblack, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3hahah Quarashi is pretty damn good. Haven't heard that name in 5+ years
- aoki5, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3are they even singnig
- acpisgod, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3The problem with this video is that rap, like rock, can be subdivided in so many different styles, i don't think that only one short clip from a country can accurately represent how this music sounds in that country, since every artist has there own flavors.
- Cuongfu, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3I say they should have used Epik High
- JCEEZ, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3Yes they should!
WU WU WU - bmson, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3I beg the differ.

I just wanted to make sure you weren't making such a bold statement without having the qualifications, which you seem to have, so I can take your word for it now. - zeex, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2Man, this is weird, I'm Portuguese, I love hip hop and I still don't know who this guy is.
- jsmilez, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2Mobb Deep for USA.
- SuicideMouse, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2So true. Huge difference. Not in the accent but the actual music.
- MCCULLAH, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2i wish i could digg jwanderson a million times over

Pretty good if you ask me. - allfatherblack, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2The video was rap by locale, not rap by language.
- jwanderson, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2So I'm a douchebag because you talked out of your ass? K gotcha.
You got buried for your initial comment, so I'm not so sure about that "...even encouraged." statement either. - icebluebox, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Most of all those suck.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bm7cL1W-hdA&fea ... - jwanderson, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2How many languages do you speak fluently? Just curious, I speak only English fluently, and I know that I'm way the ***** out of my element to be agreeing or disagreeing with that statement, let alone making one like that.
- artfiend77, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Really, Lady Sovereign for British? They could've done much better. That Swedish guy in the smoking jacket was badass though. Norwegian guy was a lil creepy. I think someone player the Viet album backwards.
- gabrielgonzalez, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2I think the list is just referring to the culture. For example, its American rap not English rap (unless you want to talk about blokes across the Pond)
- soupdawg30, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2The Canada one is pretty funny.
- Coercion, on 07/14/2009, -2/+4rap - lies = hip hop
- KevenM, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Why is it that all Italian filmed stuff still looks like it's out of the early 80s?
- Alexrrr, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Is Swiss considered a language now? (I know it is a weird deustche accent... but a language?...)
