- evilcaptain, on 04/01/2008, -15/+42Being one of the most original and creative bands makes all the difference.
- soupnrc, on 04/01/2008, -3/+27For all of you out there that are in the middle of the "NIN vs Radiohead" battle. They are both amazing bands in their own respect. They are both innovative and unique. Just cause you don't like one band doesn't mean you need to rid the world of the other's fans. I like both bands, however, I understand that not everyone will dig all NIN songs and not everyone will grove to all Radiohead songs. Lets all just grow up and can't we all just get along?
- stonklit, on 04/01/2008, -23/+44Nine Inch Nails
- gianttoolbox11, on 04/01/2008, -2/+18I can't help but think of that South Park episode with Scott Tenorman every time I hear the band Radiohead mentioned.
- MiDri, on 04/01/2008, -11/+24I don't listen to radiohead.
- seantubridy, on 04/01/2008, -0/+10Regarding the online sale of their new album: No one really like dealing with record companies. But Radiohead were on a record label for a long time. They're able to sell music on their own now because of their popularity - made possible, in part, by record label distribution. To say that this new model will work for every band is naive. Of course a band with a huge fan-base will be able to sell their album online without a record company. How do you get that huge fan-base without a record company though? That's the problem to be solved.
- Whackly, on 04/01/2008, -2/+12LOL.. music flame wars. Nothing says "I'm a complete *****." like saying "My favorite music is better than your favorite music." It's like comparing penises for people too embarrassed to whip out their penis.
- smokeymcdank, on 04/01/2008, -3/+12Holy *****, half baked?
If anything radiohead is over produced. What the hell are you talking about. if you wanna be critical try coming up with some objective critique, not half-assed, barely relevant opinion. - mywhitenoise, on 04/01/2008, -2/+11NIN offered their songs on multi-track available for remix of ALL the songs on Year Zero, a handful of tracks off of With Teeth, and back in 2000 they offered The Big Come Down for fans to remix.
- kriminalintent, on 04/01/2008, -1/+9He supported radiohead by buying the album for 2,000$ when it was set your own price.... But he felt the content was really nothing new. Had zero art work and was pretty much compressed as much as myspace files are... They used the internet to promote and push sales in stores.
- Klarth, on 04/01/2008, -6/+14I don't like them at all.
I think what they're doing is quite nice, though. - kingp, on 04/01/2008, -1/+9Dugg because this post is oozing with sarcasm.
- cambob76, on 04/01/2008, -3/+11They think Scott Tenorman is totally not cool. He is a little cry baby.
- Jimbuck, on 04/01/2008, -1/+8True. It was much more of a marketing scheme than a groundbreaking release medium.....Reznor's "Ghost's I-IV" album is 5 bucks for FLAC files.....Radiohead's files were just compressed MP3's....Maybe it doesn't matter to all of you, but I love listening to my album's in HIGH-FIDELITY.
- mliving, on 04/01/2008, -9/+15Please Radiohead didn't rewrite *****... they still have a record company... their free downloads were nothing more than a publicity stunt.
NIN are doing more to change the biz than Radioheadz! - kida001, on 04/01/2008, -12/+18wow your an idiot
- Grimace421, on 04/01/2008, -14/+19I'm a huge Radiohead fan but seriously they aren't doing anything that Trent Reznor hasn't already done.
- greenriver572, on 04/01/2008, -2/+7like the top poster(right now), i don't listen to radiohead, in fact i hate their music, but i really appreciate what they are doing for music.
- kingp, on 04/01/2008, -6/+11I once again state that Radiohead did NOTHING that Chuck D. and Smashing Pumpkins haven't already done. Chuck D has released albums online since the late 90's, and the Pumpkins distributed Machina II though the web because their label wouldn't.
Not that I'm trying to take credit away from Radiohead or NIN. I appreciate them pushing the boundaries even further, but lets also give credit to the ones that did it first. - jeriqo, on 04/01/2008, -1/+6Trent's method just can't work for every artist.
- Roland25, on 04/01/2008, -0/+4Why is every comment the equivalent to "TRENT REZNOR IS GOD" or "NIN DID IT FIRST"? Please.. don't make every NIN fan look like a 12 year old school girl.
- Pake, on 04/01/2008, -0/+4Yes, because a list containing Amy Winehouse has credibility.... Not to mention it's a freaking flavor of the week list.
- CaviMike, on 04/01/2008, -1/+5Black history month was over a month ago.
- holymrack, on 04/01/2008, -16/+20Digg me down, I ***** hate Radiohead.
- Tyrghast, on 04/01/2008, -11/+15A new business model means nothing if your music sucks.
- dsmx, on 04/01/2008, -0/+3Points at almost every band out there at the moment who seems to fit that description quite nicely.
- kriminalintent, on 04/01/2008, -0/+3they also do it for free, they dont charge...
- pardonmedoug, on 04/01/2008, -1/+4You're not listening right
- LogicBomB, on 04/01/2008, -1/+4***** seriously, if I wrote an article about how apples are delicious there would still be a ton of idiots getting in line to bash apples and promote oranges.
Just ***** take it for what it is. - artgon, on 04/01/2008, -5/+8Not sure why you're getting dugg down. There is definitely a case to be made for Radiohead as the best band of our (I was born in 1985) generation.
... and no... as much as I like Dave Grohl he definitely has nothing to say about this (Not even as a Nirvana member). - weeFred, on 04/01/2008, -0/+3They had always planned the release online first and then to release cds in shops, they said this from the very start. Don't mistake you being misinformed as their failing.
- inactive, on 04/01/2008, -3/+6... are a fine "band" in many ways. Not sure why Trent is so whiny about the online-sales-pioneer title.
It's not like he's running for office against Radiohead. - HissingPixie, on 04/01/2008, -6/+9Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails have absolutely nothing to do with one another. Any time either Thom Yorke or Trent Reznor picks up an instrument or a synthesizer I stop whatever I'm doing to listen.
- jcastillo81, on 04/01/2008, -9/+12Radiohead sucks! If you want to hear a band that is truly original (and knows how to ***** RAWK) listen to Nickleback! They are better than those pussies!
- kelalo, on 04/01/2008, -0/+3Okay, Diggers, relax -- getting angry over what bands you like versus what bands other people like is altogether unproductive and downright silly. For a group of people who generally try to approach any topic with objectivity and analysis, this childish battle over "Radiohead sucks!" or "NIN is sh-t" or whatever is competeley ridiculous. Music is inherently subjective--allow people to like what they like and don't get angry for expressing an opinion to that effect. And if you think Radiohead sucks or that NIN sucks, what does it matter if you let other people know? If a NIN fan hears that some anonymous person on the web thinks that NIN sucks, is it really going to change his or her mind? Please. So stop clogging up the message boards with "No! You're wrong!" when we're discussing an inherently opinion-based subject.
Ah, go ahead and digg me down. Also, I do realize that I posted "Radiohead is awesome" earlier. It wasn't a reply to anyone--it was an off-the-cuff reaction to both their music (which I happen to enjoy) and to their actions of late. It was a pretty substance-lacking comment so in retrospect I oughtn't have posted it. - TheKarmaPolice, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3nickleback isn't good and doesn't have talent. radiohead are incredible and obviously have talent, if you weren't so keen to hate something you don't care for you might realize that.
now digg me down for my fanboy-ism. - mewmewkittys, on 04/01/2008, -2/+5how about,
ANYWHERE - inactive, on 04/01/2008, -0/+3I don't think you have your speakers on.
- logicalnoise, on 04/01/2008, -0/+2make that 6
- jeriqo, on 04/01/2008, -2/+4You can't.
People must admit that the music industry is not broken, it just works. At least it worked before napster. - TheKarmaPolice, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2jesus, who about who is more innovative?! so what, there has been another band before that released music online for free? it's about the quality of the music itself, and how it makes you feel, not who invented the online distribution method. if you're doing that then why don't you trash radiohead and NIN for using guitars, when other bands have been using them for YEARS. (seriously, i saw it on wikipedia.)
besides, radiohead wasn't out to be revolutionary or to take down the RIAA with the release of "in rainbows." they just wanted to "leak" their own album before someone else did. they had been let down in the past when their albums got leaked before they were truly mixed, which frustrated them, so they just put a fix to that. - geneticlone, on 04/01/2008, -2/+4Actually you probably are the idiot, hence the band's music is really nothing special and there are constant fanboys posting the same news over and over again...
- Jimbuck, on 04/01/2008, -1/+3I don't think he was bashing as much as just stating the truth. Trent Reznor has done this for years now....the moment Radiohead releases one song, it's groundbreaking.....please. No rule rewrote here my friend.
- MattFromSeattle, on 04/01/2008, -14/+16I like Radiohead and all, but Trent Reznor has done it better and done it with his own money.
- vade79, on 04/01/2008, -2/+4I can get liking a band more than another...but don't compare the "musical limits" of Radiohead to Nine Inch Nails... it's Radiohead no-contest on that, especially in context to this last garageband album from NIN.
- evilgoatbob, on 04/01/2008, -2/+4I think Nine Inch Nails is a pretty cool guy, eh releases his music for free and doesn't afraid of anything.
- kriminalintent, on 04/01/2008, -3/+5There a good band great really, but Nine inch nails have been doing this for the last few albums. You have to even buy each track of the single off itunes by themselves for .99 each. Trent give the multi track files away for free.
- lolben, on 04/01/2008, -1/+3just happen to be listening to ok computer? ha
