- c-nug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I found this magazine while sitting in the back of my roommates car and I was flipped through it. I discovered that half the albums were rap or bad 80s pop music. And then I found Master of Puppets in the 40s, with no mention of the Black Album. I then proceeded to never read that magazine again.
- ElCoyote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think every one of these lists should be qualified with the term 'popular' or 'pop' OR 'mainstream' or more aptly: "Major Label" album of the past 20 years.
Check those records, I bet 95% of them are on the five major labels.
There's lots better music out there, you just don't hear it on the radio or see it on MTV. - WorfoSAUR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1like omg! Van Halen I is the best CD of the past 30 years!
- ke4wkp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its a good CD but I would have to say Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" would better fit the role of Top Album of the past 20 years or 30 years even.
- BenStockwell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ugg, Radiohead bores me to death.
- exoendo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digg++
- exoendo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Wasn't it vocoded...or was it speech synthesiser?
was it vocoded speech synthesiser? cause that doesn't count...that means a human voice was mixed with the speech synthesier output."
There is only one song done entirly in a speech synth, but most of the album is sung by thom. - dmron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Look, this is just a publicity stunt by Spin to try and pretend like they're important. And obviously it's working based on how many god damn places I've read this headline today. Everyone's like "OMG WTF Nirvana isn't number one like every other freaking list that's come out like this in the past 10 years!!!! Oh well, Spin must be important to make such a bold statement! Better subscribe to their magazine!" I'm not saying anything bad about Radiohead or Nirvana - they're both good bands and I enjoy their music. But I dont think either of them have the best album by a long shot in the past 20 years. Who cares what some ***** editors at a crappy music mag think anyways.
- aekdbbop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1heck yeah! that is my favorite album of all time. gooood stuff. Best song has got to be sub. homesick alien. check it out.
- jordan1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No the best album of the year is the Soundtrack to "Glitter" by Mariah Carey, she just makes my heart sing!
- luke--, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wasn't it vocoded...or was it speech synthesiser?
was it vocoded speech synthesiser? cause that doesn't count...that means a human voice was mixed with the speech synthesier output. - tryferos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DMRON, you da man...who cares what any rag mag says...when was the last time anyone cared about or remembered that there even was a magazine named Spin? I say if you like it go buy it and don't listen to the people trying to be cool by telling you what they think is the best album. And by the way, why the heck is this non-tech related crap even being posted to this website?
- snowthrower, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Boo! Hiss! How the hell did that load of crap get voted best CD in 20 years?!
- HellGnome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Love Radiohead, okay computer was fantastic except for that filler piece of the robot talking, that was kind of lame. Karma police is one of the greatest songs ever.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the best album in the past 20 years is Crunk Juice
- tryferos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thank you matt for your wonderfully gifted usage and expression of the english language...
- SilverRocket, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1100%... the production on Nevermind is dated for sure. Influential? Nevermind. Best Album? Hard to argue with OK Computer.
- kenhigginson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why are people bitching about this not having anything to do with tech? It's got the word 'computer' in it.
Be right back... I gotta go buy this CD because they told me it's the best. - exoendo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well, I try . .
- onenairb, on 03/09/2009, -0/+0Me being so nice I thought you’d be interested to hear that Radiohead's Airbag/How Am I Driving? is available to buy digitally. An awesome EP
- bash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i dont believe it..."3 feet high and rising" made the top 10??????
- dentz1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Nevermind" is sounding a little dated to me... although it certainly set a trend for the early 90's. No complaints with “OK… a masterpiece.
- bash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0and im sorry, how the hell did "illmatic" and "reasonable doubt" not get on that list?? those are some classic rap albums of ALL TIME.
lol and the viewers of cnn didnt think spin made the best choice in the poll:
Yes: 23%
No: 77% - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anything rap or hip hop is not worthy
- DWatch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't care what self-important 'music magazine' proclaims as 'best album to mow the lawn to' or whatever... music is art and is therefore subjective. Everyone will view the art diferently. Some will gasp in awe, some will be bored. No one can give the title 'best' to any art. They can give the 'I think its best' title, if they want, but it certainly wont match 99% of other peoples 'best'.
Having said that, I love the old Radiohead, and have listened to The Bends, Pablo Honey, and Ok Computer over and over. The new Radiohead (same band, way differnt sound) is crappy. Thom apparantly got bored playing Creep at all the concerts so he decided to shoot his band in the foot to get them off the charts.
Those that keep saying Nevermind is "Teh BEST" are usually under 30, and fell hook line and sinker for the grunge rock image in the 90's. Its a decent album, but certainly doesn't make my radar for 'Best' anything, not even grunge. - vuzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ ke4wkp : Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon was released in 1973, thus 12 years too early to be considered for the list of best albums of the last 20 years, or even 30 years...
- whackaxe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is a lame digg. honestly, i don't need some "music journalist" so far up his own ass to realise people have different music tastes, to tell me what "the best album" is. ***** them, i can choose my own music and its not going to be on that list. not to mention this isn't even tech.
- Rawksteadi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0It's not a robot! It's Stephen Hawking!
- mdavis5k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Well thats great but Nevermind is still number one ok computer can be number 2 lol. Those are my two fav cd's
- motionblur, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Radiohead gets best album? I don't ***** think so. They are plain and simple a U2 ripoff. Even Duran Duran's Medazzaland is better than anything Radiohead ever put out.....and that speaks volumes.
- exoendo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0" why the heck is this non-tech related crap even being posted to this website?"
Dear retard, digg isn't JUST a tech site.
This was put into the appropiate category - music.
If the diggers say it's worthy than it's worthy. - volcompimp, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2News Flash! Radiohead still sucks despite having used the word computer in the album title.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0LOL
