- eco57, on 11/25/2008, -0/+50Victor Borge would have so loved this.
- GrandmaSheila, on 11/25/2008, -3/+42Rachmaninov was the greatest pianest, not only of his day, but perhaps of all time. No one comes close to him, then or now.
I have reconstructed cd's of his early recordings, playing his own works and everyone elses', and they are indescribably sublime.
My father actually saw him play, at the Cincinnati Symphony hall, I don't know when, but he told me the maestro slammed down the keyboard cover and stalked offstage when the audience cried out for the C-minor prelude, which he loathed!
I would have loved to have seen that!
Thanks for the shout! - sgtbutterscotch, on 11/25/2008, -3/+40That's hardly plagiarism. The routines were completely different; they just used the same props. Where the first dudes got the idea for their routine is up in the air to me.

Piano Lesson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOQaK7NHY-4 - nickhaskell, on 11/25/2008, -0/+26They look like big, good, strong hands. Don't they? I always thought that's what they were. My little friends. The little man with his racing snail, the Nighthob, even the stupid bat. I couldn't hold on to them. The nothing pulled them right out of my hands. I failed.
- ivansusanin, on 11/25/2008, -0/+23dugg for victor borge. check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8R0ZwYvXpg
- eco57, on 11/25/2008, -0/+21ahem...as far as performers go, Franz Liszt is up there in that rarefied air also, according to numerous accounts. It gets harder and harder to tell as you go back in time, but Mozart and Beethoven must also have been extraordinary pianists. And I shouldn't neglect the relatively small, but exquisitely talented hands of Chopin. But since I've gone this far, it would now be rude of me to leave out Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, Scott Joplin, Herbie Hancock and the absolutely amazing Erroll Garner. I better stop there, but it's clearly an abridged list. :)
- poidh, on 11/25/2008, -2/+22You have a small penis.
- fwertz, on 11/25/2008, -2/+21But can it run Moonlight Sonata?
- Rhendal, on 11/25/2008, -0/+15It's hard to pick your nose.
- tightscrummy, on 11/25/2008, -0/+14As far as I can tell you can spell Russian names however you want in English.
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+14Just plain awesome
- version22l, on 11/25/2008, -0/+14you need big gloves?
- quisph, on 11/26/2008, -0/+13Official response to Hersch's claim:
http://www.igudesmanandjoo.com/default.asp?show=de ... - pbuschma, on 11/25/2008, -1/+13Good artists steal, great artists copy. These shows are for entertainment; and if you were entertained then they did their job. Music, Art and anything along those lines are nothing but copies of similar ideas and execution that evolve into ever changing new and similar things: nothing wrong and nothing new.
- eco57, on 11/25/2008, -24/+35It saddens me to report that this routine appears to have been plagiarized:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nWzC19Iq_c
That's a shame. - poidh, on 11/25/2008, -0/+11If you're a girl, it means that everyone thinks you used to me a man.
- Nature1, on 11/25/2008, -0/+10Rachmaninoff is one of my favorite artists, period.
And this is one of my favorite songs! Wonderful! - bobthegreat1224, on 11/25/2008, -0/+10That guy's stage presence sucks. Give me the other guys back, they do it better. Don't care who came first.
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -2/+11I have big hands....you know what that means?
- uncajoe, on 11/25/2008, -7/+16You know what they say about big hands and big feet.... Yes, Big Gloves and Big Shoes.
- fierygunhand, on 11/25/2008, -2/+10It might be plagiarized but it is flawlessly performed and presented.
- deathfix, on 11/25/2008, -0/+8Well, I'm sorry this video wasn't about Avril Lavigne.
- Amadeus2490, on 11/25/2008, -3/+10". . .But only hands small!"
I actually think these guys did a much better act than the apparently original concept, shown at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nWzC19Iq_c . - hijstr, on 11/25/2008, -0/+6haha, Rachmaninov on the front page of Digg, I never thought I'd see the day. He was a genius. I believe he wrote that piece (Prelude in C# minor) when he was 19.
- IAmTheGuy, on 11/25/2008, -0/+6How big were they?
- chromerium, on 11/25/2008, -0/+5Seriously, you need that explained to you? I know nothing about the piano, but isn't it fairly obvious what the joke is?
- mfrancis107, on 11/25/2008, -0/+5If you can play this peice, you can really appreciate the commedy of the performance.
- fwertz, on 11/25/2008, -1/+6Big Gloves!
- drjennings, on 11/25/2008, -1/+6I loved this... what a great solution!
I'm six foot tall and there were chords in every Rachmaninov piece that were easily a full key wider than I could reach. He must have been a giant! - Serenity101, on 11/26/2008, -0/+4I said to my husband "the world needed another Victor Borge".
- Llanowar, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4Everyone should check Evgeny Kissin playing Rachmaninov pieces. He has some amazing skills and interpretations.
- amadeus1114, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4http://home.flash.net/~park29/rachspell.htm
- stufflebean, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4It's his Prelude in C-Sharp Minor, Op. 3, No. 2.
- amadeus1114, on 11/25/2008, -1/+5A video about my favorite composer is on the front page of digg? This just made my day :')
- palehorse864, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4If you didn't post that, I was going to have to.
- Llanowar, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4Unless he has a big nose as well.
- rebotfc, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4Awesome, music is not used enough in comedy.
Check the (classic!) Morecambe Wise Previn sketch :
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vP8TUe993uo - lazyfisherman, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4never ending story ftw. lol..
- krispykreams, on 11/25/2008, -1/+5I'm so happy this hit the fp! Igudesman & Joo are amazing. Since you're already here, check out their other videos. :)
- BabyWookie, on 11/26/2008, -0/+3There's definitely no "ch" (ч) in the Russian spelling (Рахманинов) or pronunciation. It's more of a hard "h" (х), which would spell as "Rakhmaninov".
- theshizzler, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3Rachmaninov was the best. I listen to his Concertos maybe once a week.
- bendeboy, on 11/25/2008, -1/+4I up modded this on reddit yesterday, and am now digging today! I liked this twice.
- Serenity101, on 11/26/2008, -0/+3Dugg for the 70's pants.
And for Victor, of course. - tnoy, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3Thats exactly what I thought when I was watching this.
- Gerbil_Juice, on 11/25/2008, -2/+5You've got it backwards.
- BabyWookie, on 11/26/2008, -0/+3Rakhmaninov is great and all, but personally, I think that Prokofiev is the greatest.
- kitsua, on 11/26/2008, -0/+3I was fortunate enough to see the man do his show live when I was a young pianist.
What a legend. - luvthecanadian, on 11/26/2008, -0/+3I Definitely recommend that you check other videos by them, they're as hilarious (if not more) as this one.
http://www.igudesmanandjoo.com/ - Bleue, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3Arthur Rubenstein, Glenn Gould, etc etc.
Speaking of big hands, liszt had a deformity if I recall, which meant that it's unlikely anyone will ever be able to play quite like him ever again. -
