That's fine. I guess you're into that. I just want those wrinkly old white men to keep their mouths as far away from my balls as possible. - Myko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"First, I hate the RIAA as much as the next guy, but don't all lawyers coach witnesses. Isn't that their job?" -Acewater
You have a point, but the lawyers aren't supposed to allow lying/coercion. FTFA:
"The RIAA accused the defendants (now including the wife after amending the original case) of coercing the girl to change the story, but the defendants have spun that around to accuse the RIAA of influencing the girl's original deposition -- something the girl says is true."
So, there's your answer, I guess. - TheGSRGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2These guys keep shooting themselves in the foot every day.
- pats1237, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They can go to hell and I mean that
They are trying to ruin people's lives - TimmyK., on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The thing about all this dirty dealing that the RIAA is being called on lately is that it doesn't matter. The US is a country where the court system is not just leaning towards the side of the giant corporations, it has toppled over on their side, and they are sitting on it and having a nice picnic. If they are being called on these few things, imagine what they are doing and just haven't been caught. They are in no danger of hurting themselves by doing something like interfering with a witness testimony, because the court system is in their pocket and will ignore these offenses. At most they will get a slap on the wrist, and a "bad RIAA!". They definitely won't get the punishment that these organized crime tactics deserve.
- Phil246, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2hm, so technically the RIAA are accused of making this 15 yr old lie in court then?
isnt this girl now liable for perjury as a result? - one more example of the RIAA ruining peoples lives - pgm_01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The RIAA is evil. It happens, particularly in a an unregulated free market economy. Capitalism beats all other economic systems hands down, but the founders of the US never intended for a completely unregulated system.
The RIAA represents companies who have not seen competition in decades. Each of these companies has a slice of the entertainment pie that is far too large. Basic economic theory shows that monopolies and oligopolies are not beneficial to consumers. The Music Industry is an oligopoly, it provides the illusion of choice while maintaining many aspects of a monopoly. Consumers lose out (they pay too high a price for music), the artists lose out (making very little off of each album sold) but the record company wins.
When you have been lying, cheating, stealing and engaged in unlawful acts for years, nothing is beneath you. This is a group that would threaten to rape your grandmother if it meant they would win. It would be nice if the government put a stop to this, but since the RIAA/MPAA is almost directly linked to the democratic party, and they provide plenty of cash to both parties, congress will refuse to do anything. Money buys power which breeds corruption. The rot and stench of corruption will finely catch up to both parties and the worst of the worst will be thrown out of office. Until then, companies can do as they please. - msaleem, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8RIAA can suck my balls.
- Metal_Guru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can read what the 15 yr old has to say about it (questioned by John Hermann) on Ray Beckrmans blog:

scroll down until you see some dialog going on. - shuffle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1TiimmyK -> You are a terrorist for thinking that way!
Seriously, I fear that you are correct. How in the hell can we hope for any justice when as you describe - big business is in the pockets of government? Short of everybody stopping their RIAA related purchases, which we both know won't happen, how can we be heard? - Nanx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"First, I hate the RIAA as much as the next guy, but don't all lawyers coach witnesses. Isn't that their job?"
Yeah, but to tell your witness to outright lie is wrong. - flock31070, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Boo! RIAA!!
- wizgha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How pathetic
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There has to be a way to do something to these guys!
- scrapstyle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll make sure that my money does not go into the RIAA
- diggetydigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The RIAA really do come across like Nazi's to me. I look forward to the day they lose in court and it blows their whole publicity stunt to sh*t
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i hate peoples 'anti riaa'ism, just as much as their anti-jack thompson crap, and peoples anti-microsoftism
seriously, just shutup and everythings gonna be fine, you hating something does not make it go away, activism does. - heinouskyle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If the RIAA keeps treating thier customers like *****, they're not going to last too much longer.

- shiftless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The RIAA is SICK. They have not seen a single dollar from me since they shut down Napster.
Thousands of talented people release their own legal content for free online. Why buy any mediocre crap the RIAA has to offer? - evizaer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Someone should make a site that crawls google news and other new sites for articles related to the RIAA, reviews them for reliability/import and then puts them in an easy to browse page. It'd be interesting to track what is happening, who is reporting it, and when.
"that's like I own a knife and someone took it out of the drawer and kilt somebody do´s that make me a murderer"
kilt? do's?
good times. :) - noteventime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sometimes i wonder if they like being disliked.
- commongiga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0www.downhillbattle.org
- damniampretty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think the incompetence of the RIAA is that they are looking for files from people who obviously aren't computer savvy.
From what have read so far, some of people being sued could simply be victims of a hacker- who placed some his stolen files on their system. Simply put, these people are in the wrong place at the wrong time. - Export, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1wow in the time i clicked the article, saw that and posted.. it's gone, awesome!
thanks admins/mods. - Cyberdactyl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Once again:
The music industry fat cats use the RIAA as their shakedown goons.
They can care less who is at the "guilty" IP address. All this ***** of the consumer with $18 CDs with rootkits included that costs them $1-4 to produce screams the industry is scared of the evolving I.T. but at the same time wants to squeeze every last dime out of their dying business model.
If a few innocent people get caught in the crossfire so be it.
Sony BMG's procrastination of their rootkit fiasco should make it clear the consumer is way WAY down on the list of consideration.
The real mind blower is there may be some poor slobs who think these music industry executives actually give a ***** about the consumer. - davdav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Okay I think we have established that we all hate the RIAA..
It's nothing new - x2dx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey doant let me barrow that nife and ill go assinate everyone at the riaa.
- geekologist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0One word: Bastards!!
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The music industry is going to implode. Good riddance.
Don't worry about the artists, they'll still be able to make music and tour. It doesn't take $10m to do that. These days, it doesn't even take nearly as much equipment thanks to digital recording hardware and software.
Besides, with the music industry corporate mafia out of the way, artists will make even more money by taking in more of the profits directly. All those corporate, talentless scumbags who have been oppressing musicians will wind up in a more suitable place: as dishwashers and toilet cleaners. - tidejwe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You cust have to realize that the RIAA isn't some company by itself. It's being funded by other companies. They will keep funding the RIAA until someone gives them a reason to stop. In other words, instead of just not buying CD's from those companies you need to make the entire company suffer. ie don't buy ANYTHING belonging to SONY or any of the other companies. You could quit buying sony music, but as long as you are buying other sony products you are still funding the RIAA. They'll keep giving them money. Make the entire company suffer enough and they'll start taking people seriously.
- robdbirch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Truly disturbing.
- 71M80, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ha ha ha. die riaa. evryone hates you.
- doant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the RIAA insists that whoever's name is on the account is automatically responsible
that's like I own a knife and someone took it out of the drawer and kilt somebody do´s that make me a murderer - astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The RIAA is like the Gangsters depicted in the old 30's and 40's Hollywood movies..
*best Edward G. Robinson voice* .." See, you need to testify that Rocky was listening to download music on his computer...m-yeah..m-yeah... or they'll be trouble see... m-yeah...m-yeah!"
This really shows you how corrupt the RIAA business practices are and why not to support them buy purchasing RIAA labeled media and products. When you buy that RIAA related album, you are funding the RIAA's "Bully Practices".
*James Cagney* "Ooh you dirty rat, you downloaded music... now I'll have to sue you and blow up your computer with this 'ere grapefruit....!"
Yeah see the comparison of the RIAA and the Hollywood Mobsters? - GameMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ugh hate these bastards....
- compu73rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What a bunch of slimeballs. I can't wait till they get pwnt. I hope there are some heavy consequences for them in the near future. At least there really should.
