- silver26, on 02/09/2009, -3/+32Obligatory 'the grammys are a joke' comment
... because they are. - mynameisjonas, on 02/09/2009, -0/+27Am I the only one who was pissed that Kid Rock got to play 3 songs, Lil' Wayne got to play two and SIR PAUL ***** MCCARTNEY only got to play one? it was the anniversary of The Beatles' performance on Ed Sullivan!
- alucinante, on 02/09/2009, -1/+15Radiohead's performance put everyone else's to shame...
- marleymar, on 02/09/2009, -1/+13I really like these two, however, I wish Plant would take a year off or so to do a reunion tour with Led Zeppelin.
- rjpaulisick, on 02/09/2009, -0/+11I don't think too many Kid Rock fans own TVs in the trailers to even watch the Grammys.
- THETEH, on 02/09/2009, -9/+19I'm glad they won, personally. I was quite impressed that ol' Plant had the musical courage to try something new.
- Mitz, on 02/09/2009, -2/+11Nothing wrong with Plant/Krass but it should have gone to Radiohead. A modern band with a free album will get snubbed by fading judges and ancient awards.
- MakanGuru, on 02/09/2009, -1/+9um personally i found the plant/krauss stuff very meh
not exactly grammy award winning stuff i think
and did anyone else think the Jonas Brothers just sounded AWFUL next to Stevie Wonder? - Ophie, on 02/09/2009, -0/+8LED ZEPPELIN ***** ROCKS (unrelated)
- Kaiern, on 02/09/2009, -0/+7I doesn't matter. McCartney is a legend. Kid Rock is a no-talent *****.
- silver26, on 02/09/2009, -0/+6Radiohead won 'Best Alternative Music Album'
- 1lluminati, on 02/09/2009, -4/+10yay you got a prize, now go back to Zeppelin!
- anonymous1986, on 02/09/2009, -1/+7Well with people like Lil Wayne being nominated as well the choice wasn't too hard......
- musntSurfatWork, on 02/09/2009, -0/+5I never laughed and cried so hard as to that utterly pathetic performance by the Jonass Brothers,
I think even Stevie Wonder saw how bad they were...
I was able to sense the vibe of 50 million strong teenage girls crying at disbelief and wishing to go to bed. - nekaidesigns, on 02/09/2009, -6/+11The grammys are out of touch at best. If I could bury the recording industry as a whole, I would. Unfortunately I can't, so I will bury this story. This festival of masturbatory self-congratulation doesn't need any more coverage than it's already gotten.
- Royal0rleans, on 02/09/2009, -5/+10That's awesome, it is a great duo. I've seen Plant a few times, once with Krauss. Battle of Evermore was definitely a highlight.
Now Plant, why don't you join the other boys for a tour? ...Please?
Edit: I'm going to take this time to plug John Paul Jones' solo albums. They are relatively unheard of even among Led Zepp fans, but they (Zooma and The Thundertheif) are amazing. - Po0py, on 02/09/2009, -3/+8I've listened to the album. Can't say it is anything special. Some good tunes, for sure, but worthy of grammy's? Even one Grammy? Not so sure about that. It just felt like one of those self congratulatory albums. Two stars coming together and saying "Look how awesome we are." Not bashing. It's worth a buy if your a fan of either Krauss or Plant.
- JeffNothing, on 02/09/2009, -2/+7The Grammys were on?
- blur13, on 02/09/2009, -0/+4I agree. Its very predictable how the grammy's year after year honor aging rockers. I thought it was going to be radiohead's year with "in rainbows" quiet simply one of their most easily accessable albums.
- prplnrpl, on 02/09/2009, -0/+4Do the Jonas Brothers ever sound good?
- Skyplatoon, on 02/09/2009, -0/+4I have never agreed more with someone on digg sir. Radiohead are truly great.
- Built4JerzyLinx, on 02/09/2009, -2/+6Am I the only one who thinks it's criminal that Lil Wayne beat out both Nas and Lupe Fiasco for TWO grammys?
Not that I'm surprised, just disappointed is all... - inactive, on 02/09/2009, -0/+3any one catch the t-bone burnette interview in tapeop? guess that guy is the best...
- bdbr, on 02/09/2009, -0/+3Don't worry, the major labels are burying themselves just fine on their own.
- pckbeta, on 02/09/2009, -1/+4I need to remember to use masturbatory selfcongratulation 3 times today so it becomes a part of my vocabulary.
- hd95, on 02/09/2009, -0/+3not so odd when you consider that a number of British classic rockers are fans of Country and Bluegrass music, not just Blues. You can find video of Plant and Page covering a Hank Williams Sr's "My Buckets Got Hole In it " on Youtube
- MakanGuru, on 02/09/2009, -0/+3no but they sounded ESPECIALLY BAD
Stevie Wonder must have wondered if someone had dumped him in some bad KTV lounge or something - 1310nm, on 02/09/2009, -2/+5I was on the edge of my seat when RANDOM_ABBREVIATED_HIPHOP_PSEUDONYM won a grammy. Surprised no one was INSERT_VIOLENT_ACT!
- Royal0rleans, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2Meh, I'm a big Gov't Mule fan and all of their Zepp covers save "No Quarter" have been rather...sterile
- tMANwi, on 02/09/2009, -3/+5I saw Plant/Krauss at Bonnaroo and they were amazing! They deserved every award they were... well awarded.
- inactive, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2But as a 27 year old fan who have never seen Zeppelin live, a chance to see them perform is more than just a concert, its a check off the to list of things to see before I die.
- silver26, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2what a witty and sarcastic comment!
Would digg comments again A+++ - darkchild82, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2So after all these years and the millions Led Zeppelin has sold, Robert Plant wins a Grammy doing a Bluegrass album. So is that what the rest of guys who deserve it but have never won need to do?
http://www.aol.com.au/celebrity/photogallery/artis ... - Olelefty, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2Back when I was in the music biz we used call such phenomena The Old Jewish Guy Factor. These are the geezers who still remember the "good old days" before the 1960s when a nice Henry Mancini tune was a sure Grammy winner. These same guys still vote and will always pick something so incredibly middle-of-the-road as to offend the sensibilities of anyone under the age of 60 (I'm 58). I was surprised that Plant/Krauss won because their album was out last year
- metfan630, on 02/09/2009, -1/+3except for the time the Be Sharps won
- replikhant, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2I actually enjoyed the show this year. Buddy Guy and BB King gave a tremendous performance. People discredit the grammys, labeling them obsolete, but then why do they bother to post comments?
- ddonaldson, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2i really didn't think that album deserved album of the year don't get me wrong i really like it but i think the award should have gone to radiohead if not them then coldplay
- stokd, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2Robert Plant is an amazing, talented human being, but even friends of mine who love Zeppelin had never heard of this until last night...the one person I do know that did thought it was terrible...I don't know to me it seemed like she won the award because she knew Robert Plant, not because it was amazing. It was a good performance don't get me wrong, but I didn't hear anything grammy worthy when I downloaded the CD and gave it a listen...although I was glad that of all the Top 40 Artists that Coldplay won a few and not Kanye and all the other artists that murdered and raped Autotune.
- solid12345, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2I wasn't aware a 22 year-old band is "modern"
- replikhant, on 02/09/2009, -1/+3and I suppose you consider the MTV awards the most sober of all award shows.
- silver26, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2the award for 'Outstanding Soul, Spoken Word, or Barbershop Album of the Year' isn't even given out anymore!
- mynameisjonas, on 02/09/2009, -0/+2I couldn't agree more. They do this all the time. Just a few years ago they gave the album of the year to Ray Charles shortly after his death. I have TONS of respect for Ray Charles but the album was not worthy of an album of the year. Green Day's American Idiot should have won that year. Notice how they got to present album of the year this time around? This year Radiohead should've won, but I guess the grammys are gonna wait until an aged radiohead releases a subpar album 20 years from now and give it their highest award.
- marleymar, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1lglooBurner
Right on. I'm 29 and I feel the same way. I was so excited when I heard they might get back together (because I was 1 year old when they broke up.) Then shortly after that there was rumor they were coming to play not far from where I live. I thought it was too good to be true... and I guess it was. I suppose it could still happen though. - voteobama4, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1This is the much-needed "breath of fresh air" in music?
*****. - zoethebitch, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1From wikipedia:
Song of the Year is awarded to the writer(s)/composer(s) of a single song.
Record of the Year is awarded to the performer and the production team of a single song.
Album of the Year is awarded to the performer and the production team of a full album. - aufte, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1Technically speaking, Kid Rock's the only recent artist to sell a decent amount of records, while still avoiding iTunes.
- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1Did anyone else notice Krauss's saggy tit hanging out the side of her dress?
ew. - cuoops, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1Yep, I was right - http://digg.com/music/2009_Grammy_Awards_Nominees_ ...
- alucinante, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aVzh1LSG8Q
- jshhmr, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1Once again, Rush got screwed. Even Geddy says that they are the Susan Lucci of Rock.
