- belebih, on 10/17/2008, -0/+10What the hell does ICP have to do with metal?
- TheFuturist, on 10/17/2008, -1/+9Dugg for Vinnie Paul's picture.
- ozid, on 10/17/2008, -0/+7thats why in 2007 ozzfest tickets were free...
?? - inactive, on 10/17/2008, -1/+6Speaking of Ozzy... his GH:WT charts look great. Here's the full versions of both Mr. Crowley and Crazy Train.

that being said, i was disappointed ozzfest was dallas only. definitely would have gone had it come up to massachusetts like it did every other year.
on a side note, why is this article ***** on ozzy? - emilio2021, on 10/17/2008, -0/+5lollapalooza?! bonnaroo?! all points west?! coachella?! other good festivals?!
- dafragsta, on 10/17/2008, -0/+4I had no idea ACL was such a big moneymaker. I wonder why Bonaroo isn't on this list? ACL has always had some good headlining acts, but Bonaroo has a hell of a lot more usually. ACL definitely has the indie scene cinched up, but that's not necessarily big money.
- flashingcurser, on 10/17/2008, -0/+4"Farm Aid and Neil Diamond (hey, he's here tonight!), Elton John and New Kids on the Block (hey, they're here on Sunday!) shows."
With great shows like New Kids on the Block around how could Ozzfest POSSIBLY be a success. - bedake, on 10/17/2008, -1/+5That is because ICP fans are sheep.
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -0/+4ACL is huge!! AND AWESOME!! 3 stages, 3 DAYS... 180+ bands
- kplo, on 04/01/2009, -0/+4wow. i had no idea acl fest was numero uno.
- belebih, on 10/17/2008, -1/+4From this year's line-up: Cavalera Conspiracy, Shadows Fall, Soilent Green, Witchcraft, Goatwhore, The Sword, etc., plus Ozzy and Metallica headlining. That's plenty of real metal imo.
- kevindoc, on 10/17/2008, -0/+3Rockstar Mayhemfest was a MUCH better metal concert this year
- RomanThommassen, on 10/17/2008, -0/+3can someone post the line ups?
- itsbob, on 10/17/2008, -2/+5$haron must be proud
- zacbro, on 10/17/2008, -0/+3Having been at Lollapalooza which had Radiohead, NIN, Rage Against the Machine and Kanye West as headliners, and trudging through the solid mass of people that filled the entirety of Grant Park, I find it very hard to believe that ACL made more money with Robert Plant/Allison Krauss and the Foo Fighters (not that I don't love those bands)
I went to a sold out ACL last year and it wasn't nearly as massive or crowded as Lolla. - insinuate, on 10/17/2008, -2/+5REAL headliners? Holy ***** are you kidding me? Serj? Same SOAD sound just with none of the members cept the singer. Apocalyptica? who no one ever heard of until corey taylor did that ***** "I'm not jesus" song..... What distorted sense of reality are you living in? I saw ***** Lamb of God and Static-X last summer headline, and they just plain ***** rock. 2nd stage...***** Devil Driver, Hatebreed, tons of others. Ozzfest still ***** rocks.
- itsbob, on 10/17/2008, -0/+3It was Ozzfest without Ozzy (Sharon)
And it was a damn good show! - huntermcwhite, on 10/17/2008, -1/+3not surprising ozzfest isn't about metal, it's about $$$$
- 5xSTUN, on 10/17/2008, -1/+3Homer: There can only be one truly great festival of a lifetime and it's the Us Festival.
Record Store Clerk: The WHAT festival?
Homer: The Us Festival. Geez! It was sponsored by the guy from Apple Computers.
Record Store Clerk: WHAT computers? - Coffeedemon, on 10/17/2008, -2/+4"It's generic crap"
So says the indie fan... - rswelling, on 10/17/2008, -0/+2The best music festival this year (by best I mean flying under the radar featuring a host of great bands you have not heard yet) took place in Missoula. It's called "Totalfest" and you should have been there. Look it up, and don't miss out next year.
- xero69, on 10/17/2008, -0/+2There are three things I love about ACL: The music, the women, and the food! All of the beer and food at Austin City Limits is very reasonably priced which may have led to more sales overall. It's also worth noting that ALL of the food was from local vendors who used GOOD FRESH ingredients and didn't charge a small fortune. Other concert venues should take note of this, $10 for a beer and $8 for nasty nachos made with stale chips will not give you maximum profits. I'm not a food snob, I just want something decent for my hard earned money.
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -0/+2It may be number three of the year, but its number one in my heart, for ***** money maker ever.
Even bands hate it, such as Between The Buried and Me who wrote the song "White Walls" about how much they hated Ozzfest. - Ozzsanity, on 10/17/2008, -1/+2Trashing Ozzy is the new thing ever since Sharon egged Iron Maiden. The IM fans have no sense of humor.
- pattykakes887, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1Should have been free. Its hard to get big names when you aren't paying anyone. Thats what happened in 07.
- jgaspar, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1I thought NAMBLA was #3
- tyler0is0sexy, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1no you can google it yourself
- maximilen, on 10/17/2008, -1/+2"#3 moneymaker"...
- MavRevMatt, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1No otherwise it wouldn't be "[pegged] [...] as the #3 moneymaker of 2008."
- itsbob, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1Is that the one sponsored by the high in fiber cereal?
- ozid, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1my guess is those are all one time events and these have 20 or more tour stops... soo even though coachella tickets are 100+... they aren't raking in the cash of $40 tickets x 20
just sayin. - kevyn, on 10/20/2008, -0/+1Ozzfest? they stopped doing that in England, probably due to the fact that Reading festival was far better, and now we have download festival, which sucks.
- matthewdestroys, on 10/17/2008, -1/+2The smaller acts have to pay to tour with Ozzfest... which is ridiculous. It's not cheap either.
- 4sakenaiden, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1With its ridiculous prices, no wonder
- TheLakeTroll, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1Ozzfest is a joke, the real metal concert is Wacken.
- rswelling, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1No it's sponsored by Wantage Records...chump.
- eyepatch100, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1I wonder if they counted the after-shows...
- Protoss, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1This was my first year at ACL, and I was pretty shocked by how cheap everything was. I mean, they gave out free water which was pretty different than any other concert I've been to.
- roddack, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1I have been to Ozzfest 3 times and every time it kicked Fing ass!
- AdeleMor, on 10/16/2008, -1/+2Coachella is smaller than ACL? Weird!
- athrasher, on 10/17/2008, -0/+0Way more than 3 stages, hell there are 4 main stages (AT&T, AMD, Dell, Blue Room). Plus the WaMu and Ventures stages had pretty incredible lineups this year.
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -1/+1Ozzfest wouldn't be as bad if Ozzy wasn't there :P Warped tour wouldn't be as bad if they didn't let emo bands play there.
- athrasher, on 10/17/2008, -0/+0ACL is one time. The only one of those other festivals that I'm really surprised isn't ahead of ACL is Bonaroo, considering it had a better lineup (top to bottom) and has a bigger attendance. The only reason I could think of is that ACL makes a killing on the one-day tickets they sell.
- PacoDEmu, on 10/17/2008, -4/+4just because your concert makes a lot of money doesn't mean it's any good
Ozzfest doesn't even have real metal bands anymore, it's all popular crap or bands that Sharon and Co manage
Serj and Apocalyptica have been the only real headliners for ages... - fletcher008, on 10/17/2008, -2/+1Its just crap.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/17/2008, -6/+4It's generic crap that shouldn't be taken seriously?
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -4/+2I bet all of this money can buy Ozzie a huge new teleprompter so he can remember the words to his own songs.
- Jellojoe, on 10/17/2008, -2/+0The reason Ozzfest was #3? Simple, Metallica was there!
